Not Guilty

That was quick:

A jury acquitted George Zimmerman on Saturday night of all charges in the death of Trayvon Martin, bringing to an end a case that set off nationwide protests and searing debates over racial justice and self-defense laws.

I am watching Foxnews and the lead prosecutor is still trying the case in front of the media.

Personally, I am glad at the outcome, strictly from the stand point of what the evidence told me. The circumstances being what they were, the whole case of was going to come down to certain perceptions. There was no eye witness or any probative elements that pointed strongly one way or the other. Using a baseball analogy, a tie does go to the runner, the burden to prove guilt is placed with the state, in this case, they did not meet the standard.

The obvious point remains, Zimmerman might very well have been guilty of the charges brought, but placing someone in prison is serious stuff, the old I’d rather see 100 guilty men go free then have one innocent man go to jail, applies here.

Any other thoughts?

As if this wasn’t already blatantly obvious..

Now we get a confession from the Sanford ex-police chief himself that the whole Zimmerman fiasco was politically motivated and done from outside. From the article at CNN:

(CNN) — The George Zimmerman investigation was hijacked “in a number of ways” by outside forces, said the former police chief of Sanford, Florida. Bill Lee, who testified Monday in Zimmerman’s second-degree murder trial, told CNN’s George Howell in an exclusive interview that he felt pressure from city officials to arrest Zimmerman to placate the public rather than as a matter of justice.

“It was (relayed) to me that they just wanted an arrest. They didn’t care if it got dismissed later,” he said. “You don’t do that.” When Sanford police arrived on the scene on February 26, 2012, after Zimmerman fatally shot unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, they conducted a “sound” investigation, and the evidence provided no probable cause to arrest Zimmerman at the scene, he said.

It had nothing to do with Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law, he said; from an investigative standpoint, it was purely a matter of self-defense. Zimmerman told police he killed Martin after the teen attacked him. While the evidence at the time corroborated that claim, the ex-chief said, Lee’s lead investigator made a recommendation that Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter.

It was a matter of protocol, Lee said. Arresting Zimmerman based on the evidence at hand would have been a violation of Zimmerman’s Fourth Amendment rights, he said. Thus, the Sanford police presented a “capias request” to the state’s attorney, asking that the prosecutor determine whether it was a “justifiable homicide,” issue a warrant for arrest or present the case to a grand jury.

“The police department needed to do a job, and there was some influence — outside influence and inside influence — that forced a change in the course of the normal criminal justice process,” Lee said. “With all the influence and the protests and petitions for an arrest, you still have to uphold you oath.”

“That investigation was taken away from us. We weren’t able to complete it,” he said.

If you still don’t get why this poor man’s life was ruined and he was dragged into court, let me remind you that the left and the media were desperately looking for something to get out the vote in 2012. Pretending some white guy had killed some poor innocent child that was black fit that bill perfectly. This was never about the justice of any kind: It was about fucking over gun owners and bringing down the Florida “Stand your ground” law, while scoring political points. Anyone still defending the hack job done by the LSM, which set out to create the appearance that Zimmerman had disobeyed direct police orders so he could then gun down a poor and young black kid for being in a ritzy neighborhood, all so they then could point out how racial America needed more Black Jesus in the WH to fix that shit, is despicable. Zimmerman’s life has been ruined so democrats could get out the vote and win the 2012 election. This wasn’t the only such scandal. We had many, many more of those.

Let the usual idiots come post about how this is all bunk and that Black Jesus and his gang of Chicago inspired thugs are not doing anything out of the ordinary, and worse, how it is that those of us pointing out the abuses of power and the criminal behavior that are in the wrong. In the meantime, the country keeps sliding down into a shithole and lawlessness, as our credentialed elite betters show us that they will stoop to any and all lows to make sure they keep power.

Please, Don’t Break Stuff

The Zimmerman trial is winding down and it may go to the jury as early as Friday. A perfect time to remind people (certain people) that going all Visigoth in your neighborhood just because your blood lust is not sated is not a good idea.

A preemptive strike, but much more is needed. The WH web site reflects his jam packed busy schedule, the poor guy doesn’t know if he is winding his ass or scratching his watch, but maybe in the next few days he can spend a few minutes and calm down a potentially angry rabble with some soothing words reflective of conciliation. They wanted Zimmerman tried, he was tried, now accept the wisdom of the jury and get on with your lives.

Some comments on the last few days. I thought all that time wasted on who’s voice it was on the tape that was crying for help, was just that, a waste of time. Granted, once the persecution had the mom swear that the voice was indeed Travon’s, the defense had to counter, which they did with George’s mom, a several other friends who were adamant that the voice was George’s. But each trumped the other so nothing was achieved.

Today the defense scored some big time points with their forensic pathologist expert . From what I have read from those at the trial that witnessed the testimony and the juries reaction, he was major credible. The testimony concerning Zimmerman’s injuries to the head, that being consistent with getting pummeled on the pavement, and that a series of these blows could be fatal, fear and a real sense of extreme peril can easily be proven.

I also like the testimony of George’s sensi. It sounds like Zimmerman would have gotten his ass handed to him by Suzy the lemonade girl.

And the evidence of Martin’s marijuana use, a clear win for the defense, not only indicative of erratic or bizarre behavior that day, but could go to character if the jurors wanted to run with it.
