Tag: Socialism sucks and is a failure
If you had any doubt that there really isn’t that much of a distinction between the political elites in DC that has driving the pro-Trump revolution, all you need to look at is Paul Ryan’s pittiful appeal to pretend sending money to blue model Puerto Rico isn’t a bail out. Puerto Rico is as blue model as you can get. It’s what the left is all about: spend too much, massive corruption, cronyism, and abuse of power to the max. Now they are downright broke and dying, just like most blue model stats on the continent, think Illinois and soon, California itself, and they are going to DC to ask US tax payers to bail them the fuck out:
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) blasted Wall Street investors on Wednesday as he tried to tamp down conservative discontent with a bill to assist Puerto Rico.
The GOP leader charged that “special money interest groups on Wall Street” are trying to sabotage the legislation by billing it as a “bailout.”
Ryan said that the government will be forced to actually bail out the island if Congress fails to act, predicting massive defaults on its bonds.
“Many big-money interest groups on Wall Street know this and have put a lot of money toward sabotaging this legislation in order to force a last-minute bailout upon Puerto Rico, putting U.S. taxpayers on the hook for their bad loans,” his office said in a lengthy statement. “They call this a bailout, because they know it is not. And a bailout is what they want.”
Ryan’s push comes as GOP leaders are trying to pull in enough support from both parties to clear legislation that would impose a fiscal oversight board on Puerto Rico and allow it to restructure some of its debts.
He dismissed “buzzwords and special interest ad campaigns” that describe the package as a bailout, and instead argued the House plan imposes much-needed fiscal rigor on the island while avoiding a messy set of defaults.
What a pile of crock. This is a bailout for a bunch of crooks that ran their protectorate’s economy and finances into the ground, and Paul Ryan blaming Wall Street for pointing that out is about as idiotic as it gets. Congress is starting with this bailout of Puerto Rico for a reason: doing it for Illinois, California, Massachusetts, Michigan or anyone of the other blue states looking at the looming bankruptcy their blue model tax-and-spend, free-for-all, vote-buying scam system first, would leave the tax payers that foot this bill for broken government systems no doubt that this was them bailing out failed blue model states, and then in a way that allows these blue states to keep doing the same stupid shit that got them broke and begging in the first place. No dice.
Fuck a Puerto Rico bailout. Tell them to tighten the belt and deal with the shit that happens. The blue model states on the mainland can then absorb the army of free-loaders that will move there to suck at the government’s teat, and their demise will be hastened as well. We all will win when the vote-buying blue political model implodes and we can do away with this shit, the pain it will cause notwithstanding. The sooner this house of cards collapses, the sooner we can burn down the nanny state.
A very good Manhattan Institute article titled Hillary & Bernie’s tax fantasies points out some very big problems with the left’s tax-and-spend approach to business. From the article:
Soak-the-rich proposals ignore history and wouldn’t raise nearly enough money to fund big spending plans.
If they stole every penny from anyone making over $100K a year, the collectivist government Hillary & Bernie promise wouldn’t be able to operate for more than a year anyway. Who would they steal money from after they robbed the productive? And the sad thing is that Hillary at least knows this. Bernie is a fucking loser and doesn’t care. It is about revenge for the fact that he couldn’t hold a real job or bag a real women. That is why, in practice, I firmly believe that the left wouldn’t do this (maybe Bernie would). So why this charade then?
Here is a question to ask Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders: What is the best tax rate to impose on high-income earners to ensure there is enough government revenue to pay for your trillion-dollar promises to voters?
Perhaps they think it is 83%, a rate that economists Thomas Piketty and Emmanuel Saezhypothesized in 2014 in a widely circulated paper. Or maybe it is 90%, which Sen. Sanders told CNBC last May was not out of the question. “Our job is not to think small,” Mr. Sanders elaborated in the Huffington Post a month later. “It is to think big.”
Progressives have often reminded us that the U.S. had such rates in the past. From 1936 to 1980, the highest federal income-tax rate was never below 70%, and the top rate exceeded 90% from 1951 to 1963. Under Ronald Reagan, the top federal rate declined to 28% by 1988 and has never reached 40% since.
The discussion of these rates can easily create the impression that the federal government collected far more money from “the rich” before the Reagan administration. And it can also leave another impression: There would be no downside to raising rates to 1950s levels, given that decade’s prosperity.
Neither impression would be correct. The effective tax rates actually paid by the highest income earners during the 1950s and early ’60s were far lower than the highest marginal rates. Few taxpayers reached the top brackets, the code was rife with loopholes, and capital gains were taxed at much lower rates.
And when you read between the lines, that last paragraph, it becomes obvious why the left still thinks this absolutely idiotic idea has merit. Insane tax rates provide the political left with the greatest opportunity for graft. In the name of “social engineering” they would flood that system with loopholes to favor their preferred constituencies: lobbyists, mega crops, the ultra rich, and the people that vote for a living. If we went back to the tax rates of the 50s, it would come with a trough feeding frenzy by the lawmakers pushing this crap on the people, as one special interest after another lines up to buy their own bennies.
The only people really screwed would be the middle class. The left can’t operate their totalitarian command driven economy nanny state unless they get rid of the middle class, anyway. History shows us that you always end up with a 2 class system: the aristocracy in charge, and the serfs bearing the brunt of the horrible policies they are made to live under.
Nostalgia aside for a world that never existed, few people paid the top tax rates of the 1950s and early 1960s…
Meh, the political left doesn’t pine for any of that. They spout it to hide their real intention: to rob taxpayers fucking blind by making everyone line up to buy favors from them. In short, they think this move will enhance their ability to pick the winners and the losers even more while in the process lining their pockets. gangsters the lot of them.
Chavez fooled enough people in his country to go along with the usual redistributive nonsense that SJW, capitalizing on the envy and greed of those that for whatever reason feel their existence justifies their needs, peddle to grab power. he’s now dead, and his social experiment, resulting in one failure after another, has come to ,a href=”http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/southamerica/venezuela/11754156/Venezuelan-farmers-ordered-to-hand-over-produce-to-state.html” target=”_new”>this:
Venezuela’s embattled government has taken the drastic step of forcing food producers to sell their produce to the state, in a bid to counter the ever-worsening shortages.
Farmers and manufacturers who produce milk, pasta, oil, rice, sugar and flour have been told to supply between 30 per cent and 100 per cent of their products to the state stores. Shortages, rationing and queues outside supermarkets have become a way of life for Venezuelans, as their isolated country battles against rigid currency controls and a shortage of US dollars – making it difficult for Venezuelans to find imported goods.
Pablo Baraybar, president of the Venezuelan Food Industry Chamber, said that the order was illogical, and damaging to Venezuelan consumers.
“Taking products from the supermarkets and shops to hand them over to the state network doesn’t help in any way,” he said. “And problems like speculating will only get worse, because the foods will be concentrated precisely in the areas where the resellers go.
There is power in this approach, Pablo. This move by the Venezuelan government may not make sense to someone that genuinely wants to let the market figure this stuff out, but it makes perfect sense if you look at it from the stand that the government can grandstand and pretend they are doing it to help, but then use it to control people. And collectivism, despite the bullshit you get sold by the SJW, is all about control. The power to punish those that you deem to have violated whatever arbitrary line you have drawn and to keep the others in line out of fear is central to the command economy politics of collectivism.
Be it hard core communism, the state owned socialism of Franco and the Nazi party, the crony-capitalism socialism of the west, or anything in between, the system can’t survive without the state’s ability to control and punish dissent. The end result, when you run out of other people’s money is the rationing of basic necessities – from toilet paper to soap – and the government confiscating the production of labor, like in this case, leading to a drastic decline in productivity across the board. After all, who wants to work hard to get the same reward as the people that do absolutely nothing?
This is what the social revolution will always play out as. Ask the Greeks how close they are to just this.
Who woulda thunk that there would be rate hikes on health insurance caused by the stupidity of the progressive unicorn fart sniffing crowd that passed Obamacare so we could find what was in it? Well, some of us not only predicted this, but warned others this was the pan from the start:
Major insurers in some states are proposing hefty rate boosts for plans sold under the federal health law, setting the stage for an intense debate this summer over the law’s impact.
In New Mexico, market leader Health Care Service Corp. is asking for an average jump of 51.6% in premiums for 2016. The biggest insurer in Tennessee, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, has requested an average 36.3% increase. In Maryland, market leader CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield wants to raise rates 30.4% across its products.
And on and on. Because this thing wasn’t just flawed, but set up to fail and do exactly this to those of us that actually produce and pay for these things. Since Obamacare was passed, my rates have gone up over 30%. And I was not one of the people directly impacted by the individual mandate because I had an employer sponsored plan for which the marxists behind this debacle kept pushing out the date the rules would kick in for fear of the political damage it would cost. Well, the 2014 elections are done, and the chickens are coming home to roost.
And speaking of employers: my employer has done a lot of talking about how they will not stop offering healthcare because they care about employees. This much bloviating is a red flag to me. Too much effort when they could just not even bother. Someone in the industry will sooner than later drop company provided insurance, that’s because the penalty is cheaper than paying for the insurance, and every single company in the industry will follow suit because their competitiveness is impacted – by design, mind you – to dump everyone on the government rolls.
This thing was designed to destroy the worlds most effective and efficient healthcare system – based on the medical capability and access, and not on the bullshit stats progressives like to push such as who gets care at other people’s expense – so the left could pass a single payer system that would give them even more control over the life of the serfs under them. Of course, people that have already used other branches of the government to punish dissenters, political enemies, and anyone they feel disrespected them – from the IRS to the DOJ, or the EPA – would never decide to use healthcare as a weapon against their enemies when they control it.
The left will always resort to tyranny, because that’s the natural and logical conclusion of what they believe in always leads to. The over 100 million murdered and billions made to live in misery, in the name of social justice of all things, during the last century of progressive power has not served to dissuade low information, brain washed, mushy headed idiots from voting for the people preying on their jealousy and envy.
Don’t you know that we need to break a shit ton of eggs for this giant shit omelet they want to feed us, you evil individualist! Power to the nanny state! Get ready to pay a lot more, for less, and have to wait a long ass time to get whatever mediocre service you can get. And don’t you dare complain that you though they would bleed someone else to give the slackers more free shit in return for their votes. Sad to have to admit it, but the only reason I feel justice is happening is the army of idiots that pushed for this monstrosity and are now going to take it up the ass (not that there is anything wrong with that if you are into that).
Why would anyone be surprised to find out that collectivists pretending to be solving a financial problem opted to implement more of the too big to fail and centrally planned solution, despite the fact we have history showing this approach will lead to trouble and failure?
A new study by Marshall Lux and Robert Greene reports that since the enactment of Dodd-Frank community banks have lost market share at twice the rate that they did prior to Dodd-Frank.
The authors note that many of the regulations implemented pursuant to Dodd-Frank are not linked to the size of the institution, thus there are economies of scale in regulatory compliance. Thus, regulatory costs tend to fall proportionally heavier on smaller banks, which, in turn, tends to promote consolidation of the industry (as I noted several years ago when I predicted that Dodd-Frank would promote industry consolidation).
The study has lots of interesting data on the industry patterns of lending by various types of banks as well, most notably that large banks tend to make fewer agricultural loans than community banks.
This result was to be expected and is only news to people that believe doing the same old dumb pseudo-marxist shit will suddenly produce a different result. If anything, history, replete with examples of how this stuff fails, stagnates, and breeds inefficiency and trouble, shows us that the statists on the left believe in an unholy alliance between state and big business. In their minds it provides them with the ability to micro manage and centrally plan. That it only serves to create a monopolistic environment where innovation and cost reduction are destroyed by ever growing protectionist regulation and that the people forced to deal with these entities lose out, seems to escape these moron’s ability to cogitate.
The demcorats created the “too big to fail” entities they then successfully managed to convince an ill informed and low information based public was Boosh’s fault. Dodd-Frank upped the ante here. Those of us that pointed that out were told that it was needed to curtail evil people in the financial industry, as if the problem wasn’t with the system, the rules, and implementation of contradictory and bad regulations that encouraged the bad behavior in the first place. People should not be surprised that what we end up with will be giant unresponsive, bloated, inefficient, and costly financial conglomerates, in bed with our own government, and a system that remains fragile and prone to costly and painful implosions.
But don’t worry. The democrats responsible for the problem in the first place will be more than happy to throw oodles of tax payer dollars, syphoned from the productive, at the problem. Then they will blame the rich, the financial sector, republicans, and anyone they can conveniently scapegoat instead of themselves and their wealth redistribution schemes and scams. They will demand the right to fix the problem they conveniently blame on others, like they did when they created Dodd-Frank. And when their regulation results in even more of the same, but just on steroids, they will rub their grubby hands together and laugh at the envy and jealousy driven idiots that will go along with them yet again.
The once victorious left is getting its ass handed to it after showing the world how fucked up the shit they believe in is in practice in just a short 6 year span. Oh don’t get me wrong. The LSM has tried real hard to hide the damage being caused, but it has failed. Who still believes anything done by this administration fixed anything? I mean, we have had the LSM telling us for 6 years now how the recession was over and things were getting better. Sure, if you are one of the people that votes for a living or an ultra rich lib connected to this administration, you have made out real well – at the expense of future generations that will now have to pay for that deficit spending – but if you are middle class, you have been shafted by these crooks and know better. If there have been economic boons, it has been despite anything done by the Obama administration and the left.
Take energy for example. The US is now producing and exporting more oil than ever, and it has had an incredible impact on that racket. As a result of that the oil prices the democrats spent years telling us would remain unaffected by anything that would increase oils supply – such as more drilling in the US, fracking and shale oil recovery, Xcel pipeline, you name it – have plummeted, giving most Americans a needed break. Don’t worry though, because democrats in DC are already talking about increasing the taxes on gasoline. Their reasoning is that since the infrastructure is falling apart higher taxes can address it. Of course, the fact that what they collect is misappropriated and misspent disproves this nonsense. This drilling, fracking, and any effort related to increased oil production has happened despite an anti fossil fuel agenda by the left. Let me remind you of the billions these fucks pissed away on green bullshit, Obama’s efforts to destroy the coal industry, and the fact that they admit they want high energy prices so people are forced to give up comfort, convenience, and even basic needs to live like the leftist twits believe us peons should. There must be a god above that has not only allowed us to overcome this nefarious activity, but has shown without any doubt, that the left is inimical to energy and growth.
There are other things that they have done that are downright destructive despite any claims to the contrary. There has constantly been talk, and it has been lots of talk and very little action, about fixing the economy and creating jobs. But what has been done serves only to further the left’s political agenda at the expense of us people. Exhibit A- Obamacare has been a disaster and promises to cause incalculable damage, so much so, that democrats are running from it. It was passed by a clique with an agenda, in secrecy, based on a campaign of obfuscation and lies that mirror a cheap soap opera, pretending to want to help people and lower costs, while really basically implementing a debacle that has as its end goal the destruction of the American healthcare system so the left can finally implement their despicable single payer solution. The real damage this thing will cause is yet to come.
The left and their lackeys in the LSM have spent a lot of effort and time trying to tell us that all the part-time and McJobs created by the supposed recovery they seem to be the only ones to see – one that has also been labeled a jobless recovery in contradiction to their claims of job creation if things are not confusing enough– are good things for showcasing the left’s economic agenda. Of course we don’t heart a lot about jobs these days with the democratic party’s agenda of rewarding millions of law breaking illegals not just with legitimacy in the US, but with benefits paid for by the productive in return for votes. The truth is however that sucking at the government’s teat pays better than work in the age of Obama, and that’s the left’s legacy. They buy votes at the expense of the productive and the nations’ future. When you have so many people that believe they are owed just for existing and that work is for chumps, you are doomed. Of course, this is what the left lives off: it’s not an accidental by product, but what they need to keep their hold on power.
I can go on and on about economic damage. From the Dodd-Frank 2000 page behemoth and the fact that the fundamental and underlying problem – that government is in bed with lenders so they can buy favors from people that never should qualify for loans with the tax payer left holding the bag when the shit hits the fan as it has to – which Obama is about to do away with, to the IRS being used to target political enemies of the nanny state and the left, these criminals have undermined our nation and economy. Trillions are pissed away buying votes from a plethora of programs which primarily serve to bolster the lefts hold on power and on us peons. I stress again that any positive we have seen has happened despite their actions and agenda, and is a sign of the resiliency and strength of the American people. But the damage goes beyond the economic.
The class warriors are constantly decrying the affair of things. The world is unfair – that’s true – and they will fix it! That last one is plain bullshit and a despicable lie. They will fix nothing at all, and anything they tell you they plan to do should immediately be suspect. Take for example the revelation about public school students living in poverty. This has happened because of leftist policies. Public schools have seen an exodus of anyone that could do it because 5 decades of liberal control have devastated the system.
Education has been dumbed down and turned into nothing more than liberal indoctrination writ large. Students no longer are expected to perform and the important stuff has been replaced with liberal feel good bullshit, making the whole thing an exercise in futility. Consequently, the only people left- especially in the most broken public schools system which are predominantly in urban areas – are those that can’t afford to go elsewhere. The narcissistic leftards will claim we don’t spend enough on education, but that’s bullshit. More money, which is always their answer will do nothing to address the fact that teaching in most public schools is sub par because of the emphasis on the left’s indoctrination agenda over education.
And our problem with education isn’t restricted to our public school system. Our higher education system is also suffering from the very same problem. What once was considered a hallmark of future success, a college education, today amounts to nothing more than a license to ask people if they want fries with that. The old concept of a classical education – a means to teach people to think and solve problems – has been replaced with liberal indoctrination of low end value that despite the exorbitant cost leaves the candidates woefully unprepared to do anything other than ask people if they would like fries with that. How many social, womenz, or other bullshit studies degrees does a workforce need, huh? How many teaching jobs are out there to justify all the people with history, literature, or other such specialized degrees that might emphasize their passions, but leave little room to make a living? How smart is going into debt, to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars, for a degree that won’t guarantee you a better employment opportunity or the ability to earn enough to live and pay back what you borrowed?
The left, which profits from the existing broken system, doesn’t want to make colleges responsible for the money these institutions so freely pass out to people they know might not ever graduate or be able to pay it back with the degree they are pursuing, or to fix things so the educational value is there. The same applies to the public education system: anything that undermines their indoctrination agenda is DOA. Agenda over substance or results.
I remember when it was the religious right that was accused of wanting to legislate their morality. Today the intolerant left is straddling us with things ranging from speech codes to detailed rules about sexual behavior at college. The range of abuses of power, culminating in the record setting decline of the last 7 years, are so deep and broad that I would need weeks and hundreds of pages to just briefly touch upon them. In short, the left has spent but 6 years doing what it does to squander any and all support it had from those that were not already beholden special interests, and even amongst those, there has been a drastic erosion of support.
Queue the reason for this long post: the coming state of the union and the fact that the left is going to go back to the tried and true class, race, gender, and other envy and jealousy based tropes that coalesce its base, and Obama trying real hard to pass himself off as a man of the people by playing Robin Hood. Let me remind all of you that Robin Hood didn’t fight the rich: he fought corrupt and abusive government. He fought a government that taxed excessively and then to return what was stolen to its rightful owner. There was no wealth transfer scheme at play there. If you want a more apt comparison of Obama and what the left are up to, look towards the old USSR. That’s what they are basically doing. There is no nobility or good at work here. It is all about power and counting on the basest and vilest of human emotions – jealousy and envy – to manipulate sheep. Pay careful attention to what has really happened as democrats got to do what they wanted before you let them fool you yet again. Democrats are about rewarding bad behavior and punishing good ones, because they count on people being children for them to get and keep power.
This move is desperation at work. It’s so they can cry foul and blame the republicans when this goes nowhere in congress. Fuck the left.
