Rubio Rescue

Nothing ingratiates you more into the hearts of the right then saving the matriarch. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, someone I’ve written about before, touted by many to be THE GOP up and comer, was in Simi Valley last night at the Reagan Library. Protocol requires the key note speaker to walk Nancy to her seat, all appeared calm until a faulty cane (damn Chi-coms) acted up. No time to duck into a phone booth, Rubio sprung into action like Michael Moore to a chocolate eclair, see for yourself:

She moves about as fast as Biden’s brain. I would have preferred a Jackie Chan shoulder roll, diving under her to deaden the fall, probably still on Florida time, but this was OK too.

Rubio’s star is definitely ascending, but for those that covet him as a VP nominee, not this time around:

In a speech at the Ronald Reagan presidential library in Simi Valley, Calif., last night, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio downplayed the rampant speculation that he would make an outstanding vice presidential nominee.

“I have no interest in serving as vice president to anyone who could possibly live all eight years of the presidency,” Rubio said to laughter.

On Sept. 7 the Reagan library will be the site of the next Republican presidential primary debate, maybe Rubio will stick around and see what his competition looks like
