Gunrunner update: the gift that keeps on giving..

Man, I am loving this whole debacle. Just this morning I posted about how we now have proof Holder not only knew about these operations, but likely ran them, and now we find out that the WH is telling the LSM to shut up about this scandal:

What’s more, CBS News investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson — who’s been covering the scandal from the beginning — says in an interview on the Laura Ingraham Show today that the White House and Justice Department have taken to screaming at her for reporting on the story.

Why would the WH want to prevent reporting on what’s clearly a scandal unless they suspected that if more people found out more people would be connecting the dots? You are a member of the LSM, we control you, shut up! I really don’t buy the WH’s explanation on why this isn’t anything worth reporting either:

Finally, Attkisson notes that the White House is claiming that a thorough investigation of the scandal is unwarranted:

This is like the bloodied Axe murderer caught stuffing his latest victims in a shallow grave telling you to move on because there is nothing to see! The more this plays out, the more it becomes obvious that the WH has far more invested in this than just Holder running a rogue operation. I am going to enjoy this! Pass the popcorn. Don’t mind me telling you “I told you so” either.

Gunrunner update: Letter showing ATF circumvented the law to expidate operation.

The Examiner has a post up that is frankly baffling and validates the concern expressed by many of us that when you look at the evidence, dismiss the implausible, and are left with the facts, logic dictates that this operation had nothing to do with stopping the flow of guns and everything to do with actually getting guns in the hands of drug cartels to kill people. It seems like the people at the Examiner got their hands on evidence that the ATF authorized direct sales of arms to Mexican cartels, which should, at a minimum, be a criminal endeavor, considering they had to know that once these crossed the border they would lose track of them and that they would be used to kill people.

A letter forwarded on Friday by a proven reliable source to Gun Rights Examiner and Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsey Street Irregulars documents Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives management authorizing the sale of firearms, which sources say were intended for delivery to cartel purchasers as part of the “Fast and Furious” / ”Gunwalker” scandal. Written by then-ATF Phoenix Group VII Supervisor David Voth, the June 01, 2010 letter to a Federal Firearms Licensee, whose name is redacted, advises:

Per Section925(a)(1) of the Gun Control Act (GCA) exempts law enforcement agencies from the transportation, shipment, receipt, or importation controls of the GCA when firearms are to be used for the official business of the agency.

Please accept this letter in lieu of completing an ATF Form 4473 for the purchase of four (4) CAI, Model Draco, 7.62×39 mm pistols, by Special Agent John Dodson. These aforementioned pistols will be used by Special Agent Dodson in furtherance of the performance of his official duties. In addition, Special Agent Dodson has not been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. If you have any questions, you may contact me at telephone number 602-605-6501.

A hand-written note at the bottom says:

Picked up guns 6/10/10

Paid Cash [underlined in original]

Remember, if we are to believe the facts, and I do, the Mexican government was not aware of this operation being run on their soil and against them. The usual defenses that they where trying to “track guns” don’t fly, unless the intent was to then say the Mexican cartels where getting their arms from the US. What good would that do anyone, huh? The attempt to “Blame Boosh” is also nothing but bullshit intended to deflect and confuse the issue at hand. Pretense that the higher ups, including the DOJ and even the WH where not involved, and that this was all an ATF exclusive fuck up, have already been debunked. One can be forgiven for concluding that the sole viable reason for this operation was to get guns in the hands of Mexican cartels, with the full knowledge they would be used to kill people – count is upwards of 200 directly attributed to arms from this operation, now – because those deaths where wanted. What other logical reason would there be to want people to be killed I ask, if it wasn’t to use that to sway public opinion?

The facts are simple: we are left with the ATF buying guns, CASH, and shipping them to Mexico, where they where used to kill not just Mexicans, but then also US border patrol agent Terry. Body count seems to be the objective. It now also looks like they tried to cover up these clearly criminal actions once this thing went south, with the DOJ running the show and the FBI likely responsible for tampering with and even destroying evidence at the scene where Brian Terry was murdered, by throwing the director of the ATF under the bus. This government ran an operation in Mexico with the intent of using the body count to get something back here at home. And this is going on right as the left is losing the battle in court to disarm the citizenry they look down upon and get around the 2nd Amendment they so despise.

They are all in full cover up mode, but the truth is coming out. Nixon got in trouble for far less. And Watergate I remind you cost nobody their lives. This criminal operation killed over 200 Mexicans and a border patrol agent. I guess we all learned another firearm safety rule too: guns are dangerous in the hands of leftist autocrats, hell bent on disarming the peasants they so want to control without the fear of them fighting back. I am sure our usual deniers will find issue with this and claim I am wrong for pointing these things out. They will even demand facts, dismissing the facts that have come out backing me up in the process, without blinking an eye.

And the LSM is doing more of the same. Wish they where as gung-ho about a real crime against the American people as they where about their chance to take down Nixon. What a disservice they are doing the American people which should know how the nanny staters hold them in such low regard that they are willing to help murder people to convince them they should give up their right and ability of self defense.

Gunrunner update: WH was in the loop..

You heard that right. As we predicated when this story started breaking, only to be attacked by people that acted incredulous and could not believe Saint Obama and his people – whom all feigned ignorance while blocking the investigation at every point – could be involved in something like this, implying that to ask about the role of or imply the WH was involved, was conspiracy mongering gone awry, we now find out that the WH knew:

Scandal: A former ATF special agent tells Congress a National Security Council staffer was informed about Operation Fast and Furious before guns allowed into Mexico wound up at the murder scene of a U.S. agent.

The latest evidence that both the White House and attorney general knew and approved of Project Gunrunner and its deadly offshoot, Operation Fast and Furious, came this week in the testimony of William Newell, ATF special agent in charge of the Phoenix office, before Rep. Darrell Issa’s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

There you have it. Not just the DOJ, but the WH too. They knew. Long before the guns crossed the border. I have to rub it in some more: both the DOJ and the WH knew this was going on. They knew! Now does that put the stonewalling and outright attempt to avoid providing details into perspective? Not yet? Well then this aught to do the trick.

That the “stench of cover-up,” as Fox News analyst Brit Hume described the administration’s handling of the matter, may reach even into the Oval Office itself was evidenced by Newell’s testimony that he communicated with Kevin O’Reilly, a staffer on President Obama’s National Security Council, about Operation Fast and Furious in September 2010.

O’Reilly was national security director for North America tasked with monitoring the activities of Mexican drug cartels. We are asked to believe he inquired about a program that was providing the cartels with guns but kept what he found out to himself.

That date, by the way, is three months before weapons permitted to “walk” into Mexico were found at the scene in Arizona were U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered. Newell said O’Reilly had inquired about the status of Project Gunrunner to brief administration officials before a trip to Mexico.

Newell sent O’Reilly the requested information with the caveat, “You didn’t get this from me.”

Why was a National Security Council staffer asking about an operation that no one in the upper echelons of the administration was supposed to be aware of? We find it hard to believe it was for O’Reilly’s personal amusement. Why would Newell request that he not be acknowledged as the source?

I bolded that last part for emphasis. Sure, you can go on and argue that even if it is quite obvious that O’Reilly asking and Newell was trying to cover his ass, this still doesn’t immediately implicate or mean Obama knew about this operation directly. But the point remains that the WH staff knew about this and had an interest in following this, and that was because they requested information.

I would be very curious to know how the timing of this request and Obama’s announcement that “they had something in the works”, to deal with the whole negative turn of events and the set backs in court after court that the left’s campaign to deprive law abiding citizens of weapons to defend themselves with had been enduring and still is being beat down by, correlate. I suspect there is a lot more here than we know, and hopefully we will find more out.

Certainly the whole area of drug cartels, cross-border violence and gun trafficking are matters of national security. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has made a cause celebre of blaming the easy access to U.S. weapons for Mexican violence.

That cause célèbre wasn’t by accident, I tell you. The LSM will ignore it until they either find a way to lie the crooks out of being associated with this, or they simply can not. But enough of the truth will come out to prove the point. And as this drags out, those of us that where accused of being crazy conspiracy theorists for believing this was no accident and part of a plan that goes all the way to the WH, are going to get vindicated. Our own government ran a covert operation that cost lives to sway public opinion their way on gun ownership. I don’t expect an apology will ever come, but I will rub it in.

UPDATE: Looks like we might need a special prosecutor to get to the bottom of this, since the DOJ is doubling down on

Gunrunner update

For those still grasping at straws and pretending operation “Fast & Furious” was legit, in which case the intent would have been to track the weapons at a minimum, and as with all such operations, to do everything possible to prevent these weapons from ending up in the wrong hands where they are used to commit crimes, we have some reality bitch slaps courtesy of this beltway confidential piece in the Washington Examiner.

In the fall of 2009, American officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives who were stationed in Mexico started noticing a sharp spike in the number of guns heading into the country. But what made things especially strange was that many of them were being traced back to the ATF’s own field office in Phoenix.

Over the next year, ATF’s Mexico-based officials raised louder and louder alarms all the way to Washington, as the number of guns flooding into Mexico grew from the hundreds into the thousands, and even more disturbingly, a number of them flowed into the hands of Mexican drug cartels.

During this time, the United States representatives in Mexico were kept completely in the dark about the so-called “investigation.” Little did they know that the surge in guns heading into Mexico was no accident, but part of an elaborate but ill-conceived effort by the Obama administration to allow front men to purchase guns in Arizona and sell them to smugglers, in the hopes that it would eventually lead U.S. law enforcement officials to Mexican drug cartels.

Ask yourself why things went like this. Simple ineptness on the part of both the DOJ – they drove this operation – and the ATF? Did these people all suddenly lose all their common sense and/or decades of know-how when Obama’s team took over? Was there some clever plan they might have had that we idiots simply can’t see? Or where they hoping we wouldn’t see it? Hold on. I think I have some more details you need to know to put this all into perspective.

From at least early 2010, their superiors assured the ATF officials in Mexico that everything was “under control” and that that the investigation would soon end. Yet it only ended in January 2011. By then, guns that were part of the investigation had already been linked to the tragic murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

These revelations are the latest in House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa’s probe into the ATF’s bungled “Operation Fast and Furious” program. A new report, released to coincide with a Tuesday hearing on the issue, focuses on the dangerous impact that the misguided program had on the Mexico side of the border.

Seriously, think hard here. What could or would be gained by the ATF/DOJ team behind this operation by not informing the ATF people on the Mexican side about the operation? Where they worried that the Mexican members where on the Carter payroll and would thus compromise the operation? That’s a scary thought there, but with all the heat going on now about the problems this caused, I would suspect they would come clean to save their asses. I have not gotten the impression that anyone on team Obama puts country above either their own hide or their party.

It doesn’t stop there though. Why, when it’s noticed that weapons from the US are popping up and being used in crimes, the doubling down by them and the pretending they have control. Once the weapons crossed the border they lost any ability to track them. Did they have people inside the Cartels that where giving them intel? Shit, why the need for this operation then? Was this suddenly going to give them some kind of leverage to bring charges? This scenario is so implausible and dumb that it doesn’t even merit the time.

What they did get is the ATF in Mexico reporting that they noticed a pattern of US weapons being used to commit crimes in Mexico! Then those pesky guards went and got killed. There is a connection between that and Team Obama intimidating witnesses. Of course those of us pointing that out are just conspiracy nuts. Everyone knows that a Nobel Peace prize winner and great worldly statesman like Obama would never try to pull such a stunt to advance a key platform on the left –to disarm the stupid proles – at a time when the courts where smashing them for their overreach and unconstitutional gun control measures.

UPDATE: Seems the Feds where also not too concerned with doing back ground checks on the people used in this operation to the point where they let criminals buy the guns. No wonder they are not disclosing any details. The more you know, the more obvious it is that this was never about actually building a criminal case against anyone.
