Tag: Obamacare will destroy US Healthcare system

Looking at the future Obamacare promises us all

As if you needed more proof that government will do far worse than any private entity overseen by government, we find out that according to one of the whistleblower in the VA scandal case, government’s investigation of the bureaucratic machine’s failure finding no fault, is nothing but an attempt at a whitewash or a cover-up:

Attempts by the Department of Veterans Affairs inspector general to absolve the agency of blame in patient deaths are either a whitewash or a cover-up, the whistleblower who first revealed falsified appointment lists in Phoenix said in written testimony released Tuesday.

Dr. Sam Foote, a former doctor at the Phoenix VA facility, also called for an independent investigation into patient deaths and the use of phony appointment lists to hide long delays in care.

Richard Griffin, the acting inspector general at VA, denied any wrongdoing. Controversial language that investigators could not “conclusively assert” patients died because of delays was added by the IG and was not requested by agency administrators, Griffin said in his own prepared statement.

When bureaucrats run healthcare and abuse the system, and have no doubt that bureaucrats, but especially the progressive types attracted to these sort of jobs, being petty humans will do so to their own personal benefit or just to punish their political enemies, there is nobody to turn to. Did anyone doubt that this investigation, like so many others in the reams of other abuses of power that plague government run by progressives showcased by this administration, would find fault of any kind with the system? Didn’t think so.

This is the future of Obamacare, but it will be far worse then, because there really will be no recourse. Today people that don’t like the services provided by the VA have alternatives. Tomorrow, when Obamacare has done its damage and we end up with government in full control of healthcare – do not for a second forget that’s the end goal of the progressive movement – nobody but the connected and the powerful will have said option.

Thanks for nothing.

Obamacare not free, and kills jobs – rehash

Those of us that pointed out Obamacare was going to hit everyone, but especially small businesses, hard in the pocketbook, but then also kill jobs, should feel a measure of vindication now that the LSM has been forced to admit that the truth is Obamacare has killed a lot of small business jobs and sucked big money out of the economy, but there is no joy in this information making the light of day after the LSM shills helped the America haters pass this economy killer.

Obamacare is taking a toll on small businesses, according to a new analysis of the effects of the health-care reform law, which found billions of dollars in reduced pay and hundreds of thousands fewer jobs.

Take-home pay at small businesses was trimmed by some $22.6 billion annually because of the Affordable Care Act and related insurance premium hikes, researchers at the American Action Forum, a center-right think tank headed by former Congressional Budget Office director Douglas Holtz-Eakin, found in a report released Tuesday.

Individual year-round employees at businesses with 50 to 99 workers lost $935 annually, while those at firms with 20 to 49 workers are out an average of $827.50 per person in take-home pay, the report found.

That report also says that there has been the loss of more than 350,000 jobs due to Obamacare-era premium hikes at small businesses.

You think? Free shit that ain’t free and the usual idiots figured they would demand the evil producers pay for ends up not only costing employees their home pay AND has resulted in reductions in job opportunities? I wonder if they only report on existing jobs that were killed, or if this number accounts for actual jobs that now will never materialize, as people that don’t like the idea that progressives can just rob them blind to buy votes under false pretenses, decide to not play along. My guess is this only accounts for real job losses. The LSM would hate to really have to report on how bad this boondoggle law is. I did find a silver lining though:

In five states, the losses have exceeded more than 20,000 jobs apiece, including Florida, New York, Ohio and Texas. California lost an estimated 42,788 jobs due to Obamacare, the report estimated.

It looks like with the exception of Florida, the states hit hardest, are all progressive bastions. There might be some justice in the universe still, I guess. But the pain has only just begun. While they are not addressing the issue of future small business job losses caused by Obamacare, they are talking about what’s happening, likely in an attempt to paint the small business owners in as negative as possible a light, by claiming that they are preemptively responding to this terrible law.

And those wage and job-level effects have come before the implementation of Obamacare’s employer mandate, which beginning in 2016 will compel firms with 50 to 99 full-time workers to offer them health coverage or pay a fine.

“We find evidence that the labor force is absorbing these detrimental costs even before the government has started enforcing the most stringent ACA regulations,” the report said. “These costs are likely a result of businesses preparing for the employer mandate, providing health insurance to workers and losing access to low-cost coverage.”

Bastages! How dare they do whatever it takes for Obamacare not to put them out of business? Don’t they know that their jobs is just to be the money bags for the progressives and their cockamamie schemes and scams? Profiteers! Healthcare is a right. More government meddling to force them to play along and swallow the poison pill! And all that other nonsense not being spoken, but implied. The evil scum are responding to their civic duty by working within the framework of this insane and costly law to ensure their ability to survive.

Batkins said the research detected a marked response at small businesses to insurance premium prices after the implementation of the ACA in 2010, in contrast to how those employers responded to price hikes before the law was adopted. Specifically, there was a correlation between small businesses’ cutting jobs and workers’ take-home pay being reduced when premiums went up after the ACA took effect, as opposed to before.

“While there was no significant relationship between health-care premiums and employment before the ACA, since 2010 small businesses have slowly started shedding jobs and reducing wages,” the report said.

That nonsense is code for they are also not creating any new jobs as well. Welcome to what everyone predicted about the impact of this behemoth on small businesses, which happen to form the backbone of the American economic engine. Of course, with progressives loving big and married to government, this is a feature to these types. Unfortunately for them though, the mega corps are not going to do much better. Business, those with over the 99 employee threshold, but especially the big conglomerates, usually unionized, that tend to contribute big to democrats in return for special favors, unless they were able to buy an exclusion, are also getting into the game. Many of these entities are looking at the soon to come employer mandates and will be quite happy to drop all insurance for their workforce.

“Obviously, these are huge numbers,” lead author Sam Batkins said about the findings.

And because of the employer mandate coming down the road, “we expect the trends to worsen,” Batkins added.

You think? Wait until employers dump people, en mass, and we all find out, yet again, that the progtards lied about being able to keep your plans, doctors, and decent and affordable coverage. VA quality care for everyone, with longer waits, and at higher prices! But they meant well! Maybe that’s why they are flooding the country with illegals while denying people that are legally applying entry in the country too. They mean well. Let’s look at some numbers:

In all, the $22.6 billion in reduced take-home pay equals 6 percent of all wages in the small-business category.

The 350,000 estimated jobs the report said have been lost in small businesses because of Obamacare came entirely from employers with just 20 to 49 workers.

Again. That’s a big chunk of change, and the numbers that lost employment, while scary and not trivial, pales compared to the fact that new jobs are impacted even worse by this crap law. In the meantime, government employees that are exempt from Obamacare are seeing big raises. There is a reason that Obama decided to push the employer mandate (not to be confused with 2 guys going on a date) past the coming election cycle. These scumbags know it will be devastating, but don’t much care other than it can impact their reelection chances so they can keep their hold on power. Awesome stuff.

Asked if the overall costs to small business employment and wages are warranted by Obamacare’s goal of providing affordable health insurance to millions of uninsured people, and of improving the quality of insurance offered to enrollees, Batkins said, “I think the jury is still out.”

“This report has shown that the costs are fairly high,” Batkins said. “And the enrollment is going to have to be fairly high, as well, to cover the costs.”

Yeah sure, the jury is only out if you can’t admit that this was a horrible and economically crippling idea, because you are riding the “I want to buy your vote with the false promise of free shit” bandwagon. There is no fixing this monstrosity. It needs to be repealed. Killed dead. Then we can go about actually pushing for the things that fix the system and reduce costs instead of helping democrats destroy it so they can push for a single payer system that will finally allow them to use healthcare as yet another cudgel to beat those that will not bow to the all mighty nanny-state into compliance.

Broken system acting broken? No way!

Who would have thunk it? Demanding that the laws of economics & reality bend to the will of unicorn fart smellers and their do-good ideas has not worked as intended!

It wasn’t supposed to work this way, but since the Affordable Care Act took effect in January, Norton Hospital has seen its packed emergency room become even more crowded, with about 100 more patients a month.

That 12 percent spike in the number of patients — many of whom aren’t actually facing true emergencies — is spurring the hospital to convert a waiting room into more exam rooms.

“We’re seeing patients who probably should be seen at our (immediate-care centers),” said Lewis Perkins, the hospital’s vice president of patient care and chief nursing officer. “And we’re seeing this across the system.”

That’s just the opposite of what many people expected under Obamacare, particularly because one of the goals of health reform was to reduce pressure on emergency rooms by expanding Medicaid and giving poor people better access to primary care.

Instead, many hospitals in Kentucky and across the nation are seeing a surge of those newly insured Medicaid patients walking into emergency rooms.

Nationally, nearly half of ER doctors responding to a recent poll by the American College of Emergency Physicians said they’ve seen more visits since Jan. 1, and nearly nine in 10 expect those visits to rise in the next three years. Mike Rust, president of the Kentucky Hospital Association, said members statewide describe the same trend.

Experts cite many reasons: A longstanding shortage of primary-care doctors leaves too few to handle all the newly insured patients. Some doctors won’t accept Medicaid. And poor people often can’t take time from work when most primary care offices are open, while ERs operate round-the-clock and by law must at least stabilize patients.

Yeah, I am sure many these people are “forced” to attend the ER instead of doing otherwise, because of doctor shortages and the decline in Medicaid accepting doctors, but the real fact IMO is that these people can’t be bothered. We can pretend it is because they can’t go to a doctor during regular hours, but I am willing to bet they are hitting the emergency rooms during those regular hours. I doubt most of these newcomers are employed to begin with. When you get shit you feel is free you aren’t inclined to worry much about how much it costs the people paying for it or how badly it is inconveniencing a system you now feel owes you shit.

Setting up a primary physician, making an appointment, then keeping said appointment is likely way too much work for people that feel all that crap is just an obstacle to their whims. These “I want free healthcare” types just want a system where they show up and are taken care of. Like they want government to pay for everything and anything, no questions asked, because they were born.

Seriously, this was not the way to get healthcare out to the masses. For people that love to tell us how to do things, the leftists sure dropped the ball on this issue. Then again, regulating ER access would not serve their plan to overload the system and bring it crashing down. After all, the end goal remains that single payer system they want.

Obamacare will be worse than this…

As with everything about this administrations, people were rewarded for mismanagement while we had rampant abuse of power, I mean frightening abuses like this one, and of course, delays in care correctly pointed out as death panels.

The left is desperate to pretend that this is a preview of Obamacare. Yeah sure. That’s because the bureaucrats that will run Obamacare are not the same low rent, power hungry, delusions of grandeur having dirt bags that now run the VA and screw over vets. “I told you so” is very appropriate at this time, but the profit haters that think government should run healthcare won’t care as long as their envy of other people making money is satisfied. After all, profits are evil and healthcare is a right. These people will make excuses for the most horrible dysfunctional system possible as long as it allows them to avoid having to submit themselves to the laws of economics and human nature. Of course, their delusion can only be maintained for so long as countless fortresses of lefty belief are finding out these days when they run out of other people’s money to spend.

The best thing that can come from Obamacare is that we roll it back and learn for at least a few generations that collectivism is a disease best avoided.

Prepare for more economic havoc

So, it seems that according to the NYT, whom I will admit is neither impartial or trustworthy when it comes to reporting the facts and truths about things the left does, that there was a ruling, not by any court but just by the rogue IRS agency that would deny employers the ability to not offer healthcare:

WASHINGTON — Many employers had thought they could shift health costs to the government by sending their employees to a health insurance exchange with a tax-free contribution of cash to help pay premiums, but the Obama administration has squelched the idea in a new ruling. Such arrangements do not satisfy the health care law, the administration said, and employers may be subject to a tax penalty of $100 a day — or $36,500 a year — for each employee who goes into the individual marketplace.

The ruling this month, by the Internal Revenue Service, blocks any wholesale move by employers to dump employees into the exchanges.

Under a central provision of the health care law, larger employers are required to offer health coverage to full-time workers, or else the employers may be subject to penalties.

Many employers — some that now offer coverage and some that do not — had concluded that it would be cheaper to provide each employee with a lump sum of money to buy insurance on an exchange, instead of providing coverage directly.

But the Obama administration raised objections, contained in an authoritative question-and-answer document released by the Internal Revenue Service, in consultation with other agencies.

The health law, known as the Affordable Care Act, builds on the current system of employer-based health insurance. The administration, like many in Congress, wants employers to continue to provide coverage to workers and their families.

“I don’t think that an employer-based system is going to be, or should be, replaced anytime soon,” President Obama said recently, when asked if the law might speed the erosion of employer-sponsored insurance.

Score one for the marxists-fascists in ruining the US, making it so government can take over healthcare, and fighting evil profits, you say? Well sure, if you think the IRS is the ultimate legal authority, and the constitution is just some old piece of paper we can let the left wipe their asses with. I know this sort of extra-legal bullshit has been a pattern with the left, where organizations form the DOJ to the EPA decide how to interpret laws, or even write their own laws, while the judicial branch just sits by idly and lets this usurpation of power go ahead, but this one is bound to result in massive litigation. And it won’t work either way.

When faced with an overwhelming cost increase that directly undermines their ability to function as a profitable entity (this is the real reason the left hates the private sector), for whatever reason, employers will do what they have always done: they will cut costs by shrinking their workforce. The economic woes we see now are just the beginning of something far worse, and believe you me it will get worse. Most large companies are already looking at their alternatives and options. I expect a much larger push for even more outsourcing and a drastic reduction of their work force. Those that they opt to keep on their payrolls will be expected to pick up the slack, without any jump in compensation, as usual. Many companies will drop their employees from the plans, because the cost of healthcare will be too much. Especially those employees that do cost more than whatever arbitrary cap they set. $36K for healthcare is nothing when you are paying for people with some costly condition. There will be a lot of part time companies out there sooner than later, too. Think the economic situation is bad right now? Well, it is about to get even worse.

BTW, this article smells of nothing but battlespace preparation. It is replete with nonsense leftard shit that won’t stand the test of time, and blatantly intended to temporarily give the left, which is looking at a shellacking in November of this year because of Obamacare, some temporary cover at the polls. Don’t you believe these liars and their mouthpieces in the LSM. The NYT is doing nothing more than providing the tyrants cover for the coming election. This is going to be contested, and in the end, we will all end up as government dependents for our healthcare. That has been the plan from the start for these marxist-fascists whom believe that once government controls healthcare they will truly own us serfs, and the idiots that keep voting for them out of greed and envy.

Try as they might, the left will never be able to regulate the laws of economics and human nature, and that concept of social justice will only lead to more hell on earth instead of that heaven the marxist-fascists think their new god – big government – can provide them. The oligarchs and those connected to them will prosper, while the rest of us will all end up equally miserable, because that’s the way socials justice always plays out.

Death panels? What death panels?

As we discover how bad the VA medical rationing scandal under the Obama presidency is and the VA admits at least 23 people died waiting for care (and that number is likely far higher), I am hearing a ton of collectivists defenders of Obamacare trying real hard to distance Obamacare from the way the VA healthcare system was being run. Don’t let that happen. Back before the health rationing problems and the deaths that resulted from it at the VA came out some of Obamacare’s biggest proponents were touting the VA model as an example of how well Obamacare would work. It looks like they were right, even if they didn’t mean it in the way we are now finding out. Those of us that pointed out amongst the many problems of Obamacare that it would lead to death panels, have been vindicated, yet again.

And don’t be fooled into thinking that the collectivists, even faced with the political damage these revelations are causing to their agenda, want to do much to fix the problem. A bill to remediate the situation, as with anything intended to help the good people of this country, was killed by Reid and the demcorats in the senate. If there was any justice in the universe, those of us that pointed out exactly how bad Obamacare would play out, only to be rebuffed by the usual class warfare idiots for daring to point out their fantasy about unicorns farting pretty rainbows was just that, now that we are vindicated, would also get to see Obamacare get the death panel treatment: put on a waiting list and left to die. Remember
