Hank Gets Spanked

I realize that doing another post on the hypocrisy of the media and how they handle (mishandle) their employees who don’t tout the party line and dare to say something not authorized in “The Handbook” is analogous to doing another “dog bites man” story, but when they mess with my Monday Night Football, I get a bit testy.

ESPN is known for two things, their superlative handling of all things sports ( I realize not everyone is a sports fanatic like myself, but the thought of giving up that channel is too gruesome for words), and their NKVD like adherence to group think and group speak. Doing a Google search on suspended ESPN commentators just might fry your mobo. They do not continence any deviation wrt to all things PC and all things Democrat Party worship.

Yesterday Hank Williams Jr. went on Fox and Friends, and had this to say:

Uh Oh, now he’s done it. Two things were obvious to me right off the bat, Hank meant this criticism only in terms of contrasts, like cats and dogs, mongooses and cobras, Cowboy and Redskin fans, using Hitler was only meant for affect. The other thing is that Hank does not live in the PC world, he wouldn’t know Godwin’s Law from prima facie, so the constipation face that most would make after hearing this, it is wasted on Hank. he is a simple guy.

So simple in fact that although we could all see this coming a mile away, I bet Hank thought he was totally Ray Lewis blindsided:

Hank Williams Jr., the voice famous for asking millions of viewers if they’re ready for some football, has been pulled from Monday’s broadcast of “Monday Night Football” over a comment he made on Fox News this morning.

Williams, who sings the lead-in to the game each week, criticized the president for his golf summit with House Speaker John Boehner this summer.

They didn’t say how long he would be suspended, although, how cool would it be if Hank told them all to get F-cked and severed all ties with ESPN?

A few month ago ESPN suspended Tony Kornheiser from what I consider one of the best shows on TV, PTI for making fun of one Hanna Storm and her taste in clothes:

“Hannah Storm in a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. She’s got on red go-go boots and a catholic school plaid skirt … way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now…She’s got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body … I know she’s very good, and I’m not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I won’t … but Hannah Storm … come on now! Stop! What are you doing? … She’s what I would call a Holden Caulfield fantasy at this point.”

The groveling that ESPN put him through in the form of his mea culpas, it was disgusting, sometimes I think Hitler comparisons could be made with those ESPN head muckity mucks.

But of course, this door only swings one way. When Mike Tyson went on an ESPN affiliated radio show advocating gang raping Sarah Palin, nothing but crickets.

Maybe it’s time for MNF to come up with another lead in, or if they want to kiss and make up with Hank, that would be fine to (I doubt he will give them the satisfaction of an apology or any verbal acknowledgment of wrong doing), but the politics and hypocrisy involved in that organization that provides my daily sports fix, I don’t like it.
