Things to ponder

The WSJ has an interesting article about the current job claims puzzle:

Something about the U.S. economy isn’t adding up.

At 8.3%, the unemployment rate has fallen 0.7 percentage point from a year earlier and is down 1.7 percentage points from a peak of 10% in October 2009. Many other measures of the job market are improving. Companies have expanded payrolls by more than 200,000 a month for the past three months, according to Labor Department data. And the number of people filing claims for government unemployment benefits has fallen.

Yet the economy is barely growing. Many economists in the past few weeks have again reduced their estimates of growth. The economy …

Exactly! I keep hearing things are getting better, and fast. Only, whenever you get real data, that claim seems not only ludicrous exaggeration, but impossible. Time after time we get told by the LSM how everything is golden or just about to go gold, but then the real details come out and it looks like a turd. I wonder what could be going on?

That was sarcasm for the lefties that know damn well what is going on. No wonder they are all more interested in pretending people that do not like the idea of government mandating yet another bullshit program that will cost the people that do not make the dumb choices or ignore responsibility are actually women haters. The job market is only getting better in what passes for news from the LSM, and that’s because they have to tell this lie in this election year.

Obama economy made me do it!

This story is just too crazy to make up. here are the details.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) — A former Columbus police officer admitted in court that he robbed a bank last year so he can get health benefits being in a federal prison. Edward Pascucci told U.S. District Court Judge Clay D. Land Thursday that he was facing “severe health problems” and homelessness when he decided to rob the Citizens Trust Bank last August, according to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.

“I didn’t want to be homeless,” Pascucci said, according to the paper. “I should not have manipulated the justice system, but I couldn’t think of any other way to get help.” The FBI said Pascucci walked out of the bank with more than $1,000, according to WTVM-TV. He was jobless for more than a year when the crime occurred. Pascucci – who served as a police officer for 15 years – was sentenced to five years and three months in prison.

Things are so bad you decide prison is a good alternative? And you used to be in law enforcement? In addition to pointing out how messed up things are, this whole thing tells me we should wonder if we coddle people in prison too much. Tax payer provided healthcare, three meals, roof over your head, and from what others say, sex too. Dang, and here I thought Obamacare was going to fix everything if we just passed it.

Rigged poll fails, but LSM still sneaks in the left’s the talking points.

Talk about your bullshit polls. Not only do they not give you the details to take a look at, they talk circles around the most obvious finding: people want government to cut spending.

I am always dubious of ANY poll that doesn’t let me see the details. Who did they poll, when, what was the exact question asked, and how was it asked are all critical in understanding if your poll’s results should be trusted. Things like this:

The AP-GfK poll was conducted by GfK Roper Public Affairs and Corporate Communications and involved cell phone and landline interviews with 1,000 randomly chosen adults. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.

are a dead giveaway that this poll was purposefully as ambiguous as possible so they could get the result they wanted. And that result is that a lot of people LOVE Obama’s idea that people making lots of money should be shaken down by big government under the pretense that this is being done out of some “social justice” prerogative.

Unfortunately for them, even their rigged and totally worthless poll left them no wiggle room to ignore the fact people want government spending cut, that this is advantageous for the political party that advocates for cuts – lets see if they do that though – and not for even more growth, and that the class warfare shit doesn’t have as much pull as they would like it to.

Queue this dumb article where they pretend that while even the rigged sample of people they portend to have talked to clearly torpedoed their biased poll by pointing out they want cuts, what is really important is that everyone agrees with Obama that rich people need to be fleeced!

Class warfare sucks. It’s nothing but the greedy and envious people, using the lamest of excuses to screw those people that actually do the work that keeps our economy alive and prevents us all from slipping into the prolonged periods of abject misery and poverty that are mankind’s normal condition, giving the losers a venue to condemn theft and feel good about it.

Stop insulting Forrest Gump!

The WSJ has a post where they compare Obama to Forrest Gump based on the stupid crap Obama said yesterday when the LSM stooges finally lobbed him a softball about the rising cost of energy and the impact his policies had on that rise.

“The American people aren’t stupid,” thundered President Obama yesterday in Miami, ridiculing Republicans who are blaming him for rising gasoline prices. Let’s hope he’s right, because not even Forrest Gump could believe the logic of what Mr. Obama is trying to sell.

To wit, that a) gasoline prices are beyond his control, but b) to the extent oil and gas production is rising in America, his energy policies deserve all the credit, and c) higher prices are one more reason to raise taxes on oil and gas drillers while handing even more subsidies to his friends in green energy. Where to begin?

First off, I need to point out that I am insulted that they make light of Gump. Yes, he was not a smart man, and he said so himself, but he was no where as dumb as the credentialed community organizer in the WH thinks the rest of us must be with that spiel he used to blame everyone else while pretend he cares and has actually done things to help. He must think we are all leftist morons that actually not only pretend he didn’t say he wanted high energy prices, but like that idea. And Gump turned everything he touched to gold. Obama turns what he touches to shit.

Seriously, Obama’s commentary, left totally unchallenged by the sycophants in the LSM, was that anything that goes right is his doing and everything that goes wrong is someone else’s fault. True, every politician wants you to believe this, but Obama takes it to a new level. As the WSJ points out:

Fed officials and Mr. Obama want to take credit for easy money if stock-market and housing prices rise, but then deny any responsibility if commodity prices rise too, causing food and energy prices to soar for consumers. They can’t have it both ways, as not-so-stupid Americans intuitively understand when they buy groceries or gas. This is the double-edged sword of an economic recovery “built to last” on easy money rather than on sound fiscal and regulatory policies.

Not to mention that it is insane for Obama and his people to do everything in their power to limit our ability to produce energy from fossil fuels locally, while wasting billions propping up shitty green ventures, and then claim we need even more of that to fix things. No, he isn’t telling us we need to take some pain in the short run to get to a better place: he is telling us he is going to shaft us hard and leave us without the reach around at the end too. This green energy stuff is a scam. Real green energy, not in dribs and unreliable drabs, but that can produce the massive quantities of energy a growing society and economy need, is not something the left has allowed in decades, and that is nuclear power. As the WSJ aptly points out:

We’d almost feel sorry for Mr. Obama’s gas-price predicament if it weren’t a case of rough justice. The President has deliberately sought to raise the price of energy throughout the economy via his cap-and-trade agenda. He is now getting his wish, albeit a little too overtly for political comfort. Mr. Obama has also spent three years blaming George W. Bush for every economic ill. If Mr. Obama now feels frustrated by economic events beyond his control, perhaps he should call Mr. Bush for consolation.

And stop insulting Forrest Gump by comparing Obama to him. Forrest Gump did not have a single communist loving, big government wanting, destroy America and make it a two-bit European socialist shit hole, narcissistic bone in him like Obama does.

All you need to know about jobs is in these graphs

Every time you hear some donkey or the LSM talk about the job creatiod during the second liberal revolution, remember the information in this graph, then put the bullshit they are telling you into perspective. If you want 4 more years of this then by all means reelect the democrats and let them really take the gloves off. Here is a picture of how that’s going to look:

Just wow…

As our country goes over 1000 days without a budget, President Obama is getting ready to release his new incredible $3.8 trillion budget for 2013. As expected this budget is replete with massive gimmickry and the LSM will pretend that a reduction from totally insane spending levels to just insane spending, by instituting more class warfare, is a good thing for us all, while the dickwads on the other side will do nothing but protest the lefts political Kabuki dance of ruin. And for a fourth year in a row we will be running a deficit that when all is said and done goes over the incredible $1 trillion mark. This year spending is projected, and projected optimistically, to top $1.33 trillion, for 2012. But don’t worry, next year, something I feel compelled to point out they have predicted would happen for every one of the previous 3 years, they will get it under $1 trillion. Obama says so!

And we need to be reminded again that none of this is Barry’s fault, though. After all, Obama inherited this disastrous economy from guess who? And even if it has been three years of Obama policies, and the threat of even more burdensome class warfare regulations to come, that have done harm to any chance of economic recovery, and spending in the age of Obama is on par to double the debt Obama inherited, it still isn’t his fault. Bush is the one that went back in time and created the underlying incestuous relation between the Federal government and the many mortgage lending institutions. The one the left pretends never happened but that resulted in lending institutions being coerced into handing oodles of money to unqualified high risk people with the tax payers to take the hit when things went wrong. Bush also gamed the system until it imploded. After all, he offered little but token resistance in the face of such heroes of the people as Barney Franks and Chris Dodd, whom luckily put a halt to his evil machinations by pointing out he was just a jealous racist trying to keep homeownership from these unqualified people. Heck, the deficit spending of the Obama years is thus Bush’s fault too. Why not? Never anyone but Boosh’s fault.

Anyway, the LSM is out there in full spin mode. not everyone is optimistic with this plan. It doesn’t spend enough for the vote buyers!

Shit, we are doomed. The social engineering class warriors believe this is a win-win for them. As long as the game keeps going, they grow in power. And when the house of cards collapses, they plan to swoop in and take control of everything in true marxist fashion. They aren’t even ashamed to tell people that this shit sandwich is a good deal anymore. After all, if you object you have to be doing so because you are a racist! There must be an election soon and votes to buy.

Unemployment, Obamanomics, and the young.

While this news comes as no surprise to me, I wonder how many are actually getting it. Especially with the LSM constantly lying about recovery being right around the bend or happening. But the indisputable fact is that some of the people that where the most smitten with the collectivist community organizer and his message of “Hope & Change” now are the ones suffering the most from the politics that flow from those beliefs and policies.

Economy: President Obama surfed into office on a wave of support from the nation’s youth. And what did those young voters get in return? Sky-high unemployment, lower wages, fewer prospects and a student debt crisis.

It’s fair to say that just about everyone has suffered the ill effects of Obamanomics, which has produced growth rates during the 31-month “recovery” that are far below any in modern times.

But a new report out of the Pew Research Center shows that when it comes to economic pain, young workers trying to get a start in life have suffered the most. Among the grim statistics:

The unemployment rate among 18-to-24 year olds was 16.3% at the end of last year, compared with 8.8% for the rest of the working-age population. That gap in unemployment rates, the Pew study notes, is “the widest in recorded history.”

Meanwhile, the share of this population that’s managed to find work has fallen to 54.3% — the lowest level since 1948, the first year the government started collecting such data.

Young workers are also doing far worse than everyone else when it comes to income. Between 2007 and 2011, their real median weekly earnings fell 6%. By comparison, those between the ages of 35 and 64 saw earnings climb 1%, while everyone else saw earnings dip slightly by 0.1%.

I guess I could take consolation that there is justice in the universe and stupid people get punished for doing stupid things, but that is unfortunately not enough, since we all are paying for their stupidity. I told many people when Obama was elected, that I expected 4 years of Obama to teach most of his voters, but especially the young that broke in great numbers for him based on his thin resume and teleprompter skills, the same things 4 years of Carter did. I firmly believe that Obama is making many of us that experienced both time periods think Carter was not that bad.

The thing is that anyone that wanted to know the young where going to get hammered only needed to look at Europe, where they do things in a way Obama wants to reform America to be like, for proof. It is well documented that unemployment in Europe, even during boom times, is very high, and amongst the young in Europe is always sky-high. And there is no disputing that is a direct consequence of liberal policies and economics. Well, OK, liberals will dispute it: they always do. But the fact remains that government meddling to control wages, dictate benefits, and to control which businesses win and which lose, always results in an employment environment where employers have massive overhead and are forced to cut their losses, and the young suffer the worst. We have the same problem now here in America after 3+ years of European style Obamanomics.

And I don’t foresee things getting better for a long time, if they do, for most of us, but especially for the young. This will likely be the first generation of Americans to be worse off than their parents. The left would like you to believe that’s because they have not done more of that nonsense that has caused the problems in the first place, as the CNN article pointing out young people make less I link, does. And many amongst the young are buying into the anti-capitalist drivel by the “social engineering” class warrior, credentialed academic class that pretends people, by the virtue of being born, are entitled to anything and everything, at other people’s expense.

Here is some advice for the young joining the workforce: ditch the collectivist nonsense schools have been shoveling into your brains, and do that quickly quickly. It’s cool when you are young to actually let your emotions rule, and naïveté drive, your beliefs and actions. However, in the grown up world, believing in and acting out on this crap, only leads to failure followed by suffering, misery, jealousy, and greed. Unlike what the left’s bullshit has caused so many young people to believe, you are not entitled to a trophy just for showing, let alone being. Yes, the game is rigged against you. But you are a bigger fool if you believe the people that rigged it that way in the first place, when they use that class warfare nonsense to get you to believe they have the answer and want to help you. Fool me once: shame on me. Fool me twice… Well, you get the message. I sure hope you do, because if you don’t, the wounds are going to continue to be self inflicted.

Question the motives…

Janet Delay has an article in the Telegraph, one that greatly mirrors my thinking on the subject, where she asks “why the lessons of communism and its fall have not been learned“. Seriously, why so many people still believe that there are “other” systems that are better and fairer than capitalism, after communism proved without a doubt how command economies – any economy driven by government for that matter – are abysmal failures, should make everyone do a double take. From her piece;

The fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of communism which followed it are hugely important to any proper understanding of the present world and of the contemporary political economy. Why is it that they have failed to be addressed with anything like their appropriate awesome significance, let alone found their place in the sixth-form curriculum?

The failure of communism should have been, after all, not just a turning point in geo-political power – the ending of the Cold War and the break-up of the Warsaw Pact – but in modern thinking about the state and its relationship to the economy, about collectivism vs individualism, and about public vs private power. Where was the discussion, the trenchant analysis, or the fundamental debate about how and why the collectivist solutions failed, which should have been so pervasive that it would have percolated down from the educated classes to the bright 18-year-olds? Fascism is so thoroughly (and, of course, rightly) repudiated that even the use of the word as a casual slur is considered slanderous, while communism, which enslaved more people for longer (and also committed mass murder), is regarded with almost sentimental condescension.

Is this because it was originally thought to be idealistic and well-intentioned? If so, then that in itself is a reason for examining its failure very closely. We need to know why a system that began with the desire to free people from their chains ended by imprisoning them behind a wall. Certainly we have had some great works of investigation into the Soviet gulags and the practices of the East German Stasi, but judging by our present political discourse, I think it is safe to say that the basic fallacies of the state socialist system have not really permeated through to public consciousness.

By now it is only the most hardcore of marxists that still has the gall to publically tell the lies and make excuses for the failure of communism. Telling people that real communism has never been put into practice, that communism failed because the wrong people where in charge, or one of my favorites, because evil capitalism undermined it and doomed it to failure, is a sure fire way to end up being made fun of by most sane people. And yet, in circles on the left, as this author points out, Fascism – another disease of the left that the left was quite successful at convincing many was right wing, when nothing could be further from the truth: fascism is rooted in socialism – is a dirty word, the worst kind of slander you can label someone with, but communism, calling someone a communist, does not result in a similar response. Considering communism killed and imprisoned far more people than fascism ever did, it baffles me that the class warfare mantra that is part & parcel of these collectivist ideologies, has not been discredited, once and for all.

Command economies fail because they are driven by people at the top that neither have a clue about the needs of people below them, as individuals, nor the angelic predisposition needed to obviate the unavoidable degeneration into a tyrannical state every single state to embrace communism went through. Communism fails because it basically is an attempt to create heaven on earth. To make these collectivist paradises work free would need to be eradicated. As Winston Churchill put it:

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.

The truth is that there is no in between. If a totalitarian system like communism could not address the inequalities that so bother the class warriors, then what can? Was the ruling class not totalitarian enough? Seriously, is there any way short of the eradication of free will to overcome the human factor and thus redress the injustice these people claim drives them to keep fighting against a capitalist system? Why then do so many still glom onto the crap Marx cursed us with about a classless society? Why have we not discussed communism as it should have been discussed and put in its proper perspective?

The argument that the left leaning segment of our political class was too invested in this nonsense to allow this discussion about the failure of communism to take place, sure makes sense, but after communism produced such abysmal failures, so much suffering with the inequalities becoming even more pronounced, not less, why do people still remain proponents of the system or parts of the system?

Someone motivated by the need to do good and that went along with this Marxist nonsense, then realized half way there that it was doing no good at all, and actually instead was causing great harm – and communism caused great harm – would stop what they were doing. Wouldn’t they? Wouldn’t you? Yet, our disciples of the teachings of Marx seem not at all fazed by the harm communism has caused or causes. There isn’t even an inkling of doubt or shame with the class warriors. There is injustice, and government – one that looks a lot like the communist government – MUST address it. That great harm was the only result when their beliefs have been put into practice is excused with a plethora of insane arguments. Their claim to be demanding a redress to the injustice they dislike, doing good, should remain wholly and totally suspect. Communism was totalitarian and the most likely system to do what they preach. Yet all it did was inflict misery, on a grand scale, while millions where murdered, to produce a system that history shows us only exacerbated the inequalities.

If that’s the left’s way of meaning well, I am sure we can do without that. But if one where to believe, like I do, that these class warriors were driven by something else, like envy and jealousy of what others have, then it would not matter whether communism worked or was a complete failure. People driven by envy and jealousy would remain true to the cause regardless of how horrible communism was. After all, despite what they claim, they are not hoping to do good: what they are hoping to do is strike at those they dislike. And that is why I think we have not had our discussion about how evil communism and the underlying beliefs that spawned this ideology are: the end goal was never a classless society, but to get the people they dislike. As the soft collectivist states now also see their system collapsing expect more totalitarianism akin to that of the old communist states. The state will take what it wants to keep itself going, until it can go no more. And they will keep telling us they are doing to address all these injustices only they can address.

Why do what you are supposed to after 3 years of not doing it?

Yeah, it is an election year, and for the third year in a row the left has decided that letting the American people know how hard they are screwing us over is not going to happen. Stupid rubes don’t need to know how the left is pissing away their money and their future anyway. They need to let their betters tell them what to do. That’s because their betters really care and want to help!

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has said he would not bring a budget to the floor for a vote this year, the Hill reports, which would make this the third straight year without such a resolution.

“We do not need to bring a budget to the floor this year — it’s done, we don’t need to do it,” Reid said.

Though Senate Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., said he expects his committee to produce a budget document, Reid said he wouldn’t bring it to the floor.

Contrary to what this scumbag says, it is very clear in the constitution that they ARE expected to produce a budget each year. Not doing so has only happened for the last three years, and it is not a coincidence that this is also the time of “hope and change” where the collectivists are doing everything in their power to undermine America, American exceptionalism, and our future, in general. If we had a media that took its job seriously they would be screaming from the damned rooftops how insane this is. Instead they ignore it and make like it is no big deal. Can you imagine them doing this if a republican was shitting all over the constitution this way? I thought so.

This is what job creation looks like in liberal land

Unbelievable. How the left’s policies creates jobs on display! More government work that just sucks cash from the productive sector:

Economic woes have forced at least one city agency into a hiring spree — adding more workers to process the demand for food stamps and other assistance. The Human Resources Administration added more than 100 workers last July and plans to hire another 100 to serve the burgeoning number of New Yorkers applying for food stamps and rent assistance at their offices, according to the Daily News.

About 1.8 million New Yorkers are now on food stamps, which marks nearly a 65 percent increase from four years ago, according to city records. The increase in applicants has led to overcrowding at HRA offices throughout the city, and the agency said at a council hearing Tuesday that it had to hire scores of new workers and supervisors to manage the situation.

Yeah baby! We need more of these policies that force others to become dependant on government to solve our big jobs problem. You can not make this shit up to show how big of a failure the left’s way of doing things really is. Queue the people angry at me for being so insensitive to the needy, while completely ignoring the fact so many are needy precisely because of other such policies & priorities on the left.

For three years now they have blamed Bush for a bad economy they got “handed”. For the first two years after that, when they controlled both organs of congress with clear majorities and the WH, the priority was to implement costly and damaging policies intended to turn America into another Western European shithole nanny state. The last year has been spent blocking any real attempts to change the damage they caused in those first 2 years. This year looks to be more of the same, with things that provide great political sound bites to pre-empt any real action to address the disastrous consequences of the left’s reign of terror. Queue the morons that want to pretend the $5 trillion tacked on, in just the last 3 years, to the $10 trillion it took over 200 years to amass, was because of defense spending and not the massive bloated nanny state spending that was priority one for the crowd that wants to fundamentally change America. But it is all good. It’s being done to make things fair. Equal misery for all the plebes!

This is what “Hope & Change” looks like. Get used to it, and expect worse, if these class warriors are left in power for another 4 years. Ain’t this stuff all great? We need a lot fewer of the4se kinds of jobs created. Not more.
