The Oscars and The Lying Ground

A few thoughts from last night’s Oscars:

First, I thought Chris Rock’s opening monologue was quite good. He lampooned the boycotters and the self-righteous while still making some great jabs at Hollywood’s genteel racism.

Hollywood is sorority racist. It’s like, “We like you Rhonda, but you’re not a Kappa.” That’s how Hollywood is.

It isn’t unusual for Rock to take on race issues head on from both sides. He’s always had a bit of a conservative and contrarian streak in him. He recently talked about how he won’t play college campuses because of political correctness run amuck. His routine last night reminded me of this spot on How Not To Get Your Ass Kicked by the Police (language):

The worst moment of the night was Joe Biden coming out to thunderous applause to lecture the rest of the country about how to prevent sexual violence. I don’t object to the message. I do, however, object to it coming from a Vice President known for unwanted touching of every woman in reach, a party that happily overlooked sexual predation by a President and the message being cheered by the same Academy that gave Roman Polanski a standing ovation.

Clean up your own house, guys. Then you can talk to the rest of us about what we should do.

Joe was out there because Lady Gaga was about to perform her song from The Hunting Ground, a supposed documentary about sexual violence on college campi. But The Hunting Ground represents everything wrong with the debate, from getting basic facts wrong to threatening their critics. I’m glad it didn’t get any awards.

As for the ceremony itself, it was way too long and self-indulgent. I only had it on as useful background noise while I wrestled kids into bed and processed gamma-ray burst data. The only Best Picture nominees I had seen were The Martian and Mad Max: Fury Road, both of which were very good.

Biden Advises Law Breaking

Ladies and gentlemen, what would we do without Joe Biden. The other day, he addressed the issue of an assault weapons ban by saying that he advises his wife, while living in their “secluded” home, to defend herself with a shotgun. If she hears strange noises, she should empty both barrels into the air to scare them off.

A sergeant with the Wilmington, Del., police department explained to U.S. News that city residents are not allowed to fire guns on their property.

The sergeant, who preferred not to be identified, said that Wilmington residents are also not allowed to shoot trespassers. “On your property you can’t just shoot someone,” he said. “You have to really feel that your life is being threatened.”

Defense attorney John Garey—a former Delaware deputy attorney general—agreed, and added that several criminal charges might result if Jill Biden took her husband’s advice.

“In Delaware you have to be in fear of your life to use deadly force,” Garey said. “There’s nothing based on his scenario alone” indicating a reason to fear imminent death, he noted.

Garey said that under Biden’s scenario, Jill Biden could be charged with aggravated menacing, a felony, and reckless endangering in the first degree.

Other states have similar or even more stringent restrictions on firing weapons as warning shots because blasting off in random directions is dangerous. And, as it happens, more people are killed by shotguns every year than are killed by assault weapons.

I post this to make a semi-serious point: even a lot of people who are supposed to know this stuff have no idea how guns work or what the gun laws are in their own state. This isn’t just some random Democrat. This is man who headed up the Administration’s gun control proposals.

I suspect that Joe was talking out of his ass, since his house is not, in fact, very isolated (the linked articles shows another house within 100 feet and there’s a school nearby). But this may be one of those times when what came out of Joe’s ass is more informative than what came out of his mouth.

Democrat Senate kills 2nd Obama jobs bill: rape and murder to follow according to Veep!

Yep, 2 democrats and Joe Lieberman from my state joined the republican minority in the democrat controlled Senate to kill another stinker of a bill, in a 50-50 vote that fell far short of the 10 votes needed to hit 60. It was too obvious that this stimulus–light bill, as written, amounted to nothing but funneling $35 billion to as Reid put it to shore up the bloated public sector that democrats buy votes from, under the guise of creating/saving jobs. It fooled nobody and it died because of that.

Frankly it is now obvious to me that Team Obama at no point had any interest in passing this bill, or the bigger ½ trillion stimulus part deux one that died a similar death earlier, either- Obama wouldn’t be out there, on a tax payer subsidized campaigning bus tour, but in DC trying to work out a compromise that would be both fiscally responsible and realistically targeted at job creation, if he really cared about this thing passing – but wanted it to go down in flames. That is likely so they can then demagogue and use it as a political cudgel to accuse republicans of not caring about fire fighters, cops, and teachers. Their strength isn’t governing but campaigning, with a healthy dose of LSM obfuscations of truth & facts, and that is what is going on. Don’t be fooled, and when you hear the demagogueing, don’t let it stand. In the mean time the people suffering from 3 botched years of Keynesian economics continue to languish and fall behind, while the connected rock the proveribial house. Crony capitlaism at it’s best, but the problem is Wall Street, not government and those that make a living lobbying it for things paid by others. I see why Biden told us to be ready for more rape and murder…

Demagogues R Us

Pushing wheel chair bound Granny off the cliff was only the beginning (OK, the middle, they started with this , that little girl counts better then Biden), now, add to the list the simple fact that those obstructionist Republicans are complicit and co conspirators in the rise in violent crime, namely the increase in rapes.

You can hear the passion in his words. I’ve also seen the video, where he musters all self control all these years in politics has taught him, to deliver something this impassioned and still keep it together, what a pro.

The scenario is quite simple. Violent crime can be stopped in it’s tracks if only we had sufficient police personnel to respond in a timely manner to all 911 calls, after all, all victims have phones at the ready with 911 on speed dial and all can access their phones before any harm befalls them. The only reason any crimes exist at all is because the cops can’t get there in time. So Biden, that keen mathematician that he is, is putting 2 and 2 together, and has come up with a sure fire solution in combating crime, if only the GOP was as visionary as he is.

Of course, some don’t take too kindly to this type smarmy politicking, and what is the usual response? The loaded finger, pointed directly at the accuser:

“Don’t screw around with me”, well spoken Mr. Vice President. How dare this reporter ask someone as dignified as Biden to actually explain his words, “Who are you with?, who let the riff raff in? Hey Steve, we gotta do a better job of tightening security around here”. It is a simple message, pass this bill or crime will rise and that rise in crime is on YOU!!!!

Get used to this, it will be a recurring theme, in the straw man arguments, the emotionalism plied to the ads, and in the causal dismissiveness when called on it. I’d like to say that it is a trademark tactic to one party in particular, but watching Perry spit and sputter in his baseless allegations the other night, we are gong to get it from both sides, OH BOY.

Joe Biden’s comment on the one child policy in China

There is much hub-bub about Biden’s comments related to the Chinese on-child policy made while on a diplomatic mission there. According to InfoWars, which reported about Biden’s speech and the comment in question Biden did say that he was not going to second guess their policy, but in fairness he was speaking about that issue in the context of sustainable economic policy. Here is the full text of speech in China. People went nuts when they heard Biden’s comment that he was not second guessing their policy, and now the WH is yet again in damage control mode after he opened his mouth.

But to be fair, the WH is correct I think in pointing out that Biden was telling the Chinese that the once-child policy had serious economic implication for collectivist societies that depended on Ponzi schemes, like our SS system, and then, even when Biden seems to have the math wrong, that such a system is not sustainable, and I get his point. Biden errs when he says that 4 produce only one to pay for them. I am assuming he means that 2 couples, each with one child, will produce only a single union, again with one child, which basically inverts the pyramid in the Ponzi scheme. And he is right to say the Ponzi scheme implodes when that happens, as it is doing right now with our Boomer generation in the US, and is also happening in every Western socialist state, where our entitlement society suddenly doesn’t have enough people putting in to cover those pulling out.

But I do believe Biden should not have simply told the Chinese he was not going to second guess their policy, if as the WH says, he finds it deplorable. If he simply chose to give them a pass for diplomatic reasons or because angering your creditors isn’t much help, I actually think less of Biden now than when I simply thought the guys was a moron. Especially when the Chinese did not care much about hurting our feelings and had no problem telling the WH that we are spending too much of their money just a little while ago during our debt debate.

The practice is in my opinion outright barbaric. Especially in a society where male children are preferred because of a patriarchal system. I still think the Chinese have no idea how hard the problem of some 60-100 million guys, depending on how big of a shift/imbalance in gender population you accept this policy has caused, without the ability to find a wife are going to be to deal with.

In this case I am not sure if Biden was just being dumb old Joe or if this was just a case of ass kissing gone bad. I have a distinct feeling it is the later. After all, other Obama followers have already articulated their longing to bring the Chinese government model – totalitarianism – here, if but for a day.

If they had done this when GWB was president…

I am sure the LSM would have gone bonkers, the left would have been furious, the accusations of racism, sexism, and profiling would have been all over the place, and the practice would have ended up dead. Oh, wait a second, that idea was floated when GWB was president, right after 9-11 if I recall, and it was killed immediately with precisely the above accusations – the language used however was far more colorful than mine – used to kill the whole deal. Now we have a different guy in the WH, so there is nary a peep about it.

What am I talking about? Well, the TSA is now going to adopt Israeli surveillance tactics at airports to screen individuals.

Boston’s TSA screeners — part of a security force whose competency has come under fire nationwide — soon will be carrying out sophisticated behavioral inspections under a first-in-the-nation program that’s already raising concerns of racial profiling, harassment of innocent travelers and longer lines.

The training for the Israeli-style screening — a projected $1 billion national program dubbed Screening Passengers by Observation Techniques — kicks off today at Logan International Airport and will be put to use in Terminal A on Aug. 15. It requires screeners to make quick reads of whether passengers pose a danger or a terror threat based on their reactions to a set of routine questions.

For those of you that don’t know better, the Israeli surveillance tactics are to profile heavily, focusing on people that cause red flags to be raised, and then working to determine if they are up to no good. You don’t waste time patting down old ladies, babies in diapers, or hot female models – that last one is a drawback, I guess – and focus on the people that have suspicious backgrounds, act out of place, and in general fit the profile of those you suspect to be up to no good.

I expect the program to fail. First we are dealing with unionized numbnutz that likely can’t think their way out of a cardboard box. It takes serious smarts and human empathy to pull the second part of this job off – the human interrogations – and the people with this skill are not going to be interested in wasting their time at our airports unless something changes.

I also expect some moron to immediately get their panties in a bunch when the people flagged disproportionately come from some specific background that make for worry. Like muslims, Norwegian nut jobs, or if you believe people like Joe Biden, Tea Partiers. That this practice will be far more productive or effective will mean nothing. I have long suspected that the TSA isn’t so much about airport security but about some kind of dumb ideological experiment we have so far have been lucky enough hasn’t botched up bad enough to cost more people their lives.

All in all though, I wanted more to point out how different things are when the occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Drive has a (D) next to his name instead of an (R), and how the hypocrites that pretend to be journalists suddenly lose interest in something that made them froth at the mouth when the occupant was of the wrong pedigree.

What’s really behind all of Obama’s problems?

Well, Jim Clyburn doesn’t believe that the Keynesian “save government jobs” project they sold as the must economic salvation of a lifetime, the stimuluspatronage bill, tapping the tax payers for $1 trillion plus by the time all is set and done, and basically doing nothing more than saving countless federal and state government jobs in democrat friendly country was a disaster. Nor is it government’s heavy handed approach to TARP, which allowed them to takeover a “too big to fail” business like GM for their union buddies, or loan money to their friends on Wall Street, all while demonizing them with a wink and a nod, that affected this. Hey, they even managed to let the architects of the greatest economic collapse of this century, Mr. Dodd and Mr. Franks, write new regulations that strangely do nothing to address the fundamental problems behind our economic implosion – the idiotic belief government should force lending to bad risks, use Freddie & Fannie to then cover up the disastrous undertaking, encourage speculation on those repackaged piles of shit, and then back these lenders up with tax payer money – but are horribly anti-private sector, but that’s not it either. It also certainly isn’t the fact that, while controlling all three branches of government, team blue jacked up government spending at a record pace, has run annual deficits at or close to $ 2 trillion, tacking over $5 trillion to the national debt in the last 4 or so years that they have controlled the purse, and has designs to keep doing so for the foreseeable future, to the tune of over $10 trillion in just the next decade, regardless of the inevitable conclusion that this kind of fiscal policy leads to. And what about the federal government’s move to take over healthcare, controlling the trillions of dollars in this segment of our private sector as well, as the precursor for a single payer system, with a plan that is so transparently idiotic – tax us for a decade then provide 5 or 6 years of service and claim it saves a few measly billions over that decade while ignoring that the plan will add a minimum of a trillion, and likely triple or more of that based on past experience with these social projects government puts together – that it baffles me anyone pretends it will do anything but hasted our economic demise. Or the energy policy, or should we say the lack of energy policy, that this WH is pursuing after it failed to pass the “Cap & Tax” scheme and push billions of dollars, in the name of the green economy, to democrat friendly (that means big donors) corporations. Let’s not forget the Obama DOJ and its selective enforcement of laws that threatens to make us all lose confidence in the legal system. Clyburn doesn’t even believe Obama adding another war and ignoring congress or the UN are bad, because Obama said it was a “kinetic engagement” or some such nonsense. Not even the constant narcissism is to blame.

Anyway, Clyburn basically believes that it’s not that Obama’s policies are dumb, no siree, its that those that the racist are behind these things in the first place!

WASHINGTON — House Assistant Democratic Leader Jim Clyburn, the highest-ranking African-American in Congress, on Wednesday blamed most of President Barack Obama’s political problems on racism.

Clyburn, who’s from South Carolina and is a close ally of the president, offered his views in response to a question about Obama’s re-election prospects next year. “I think they’re improving every day,” Clyburn said. “I think the president has been a good president, a great commander in chief.”

Clyburn, who met his wife at a 1960 court hearing after spending a night in jail for having engaged in a civil rights protest in Orangeburg, S.C., then brought up Obama’s race as the first black president.

“You know, I’m 70 years old,” he said. “And I can tell you; people don’t like to deal with it, but the fact of the matter is, the president’s problems are in large measure because of the color of his skin.”

Ah yeah. The guy isn’t an incompetent campaign organizer with delusions of grandeur and whatever the opposite of the Midas touch is, well on his way to replacing Carter as the worst president of the last 50 years, no way, he is accosted by racists that undermine everything great he does.

Hey Clyburn, about the only thing I think that could be worse for America about Obama is that somehow we get President Biden, a honkey in the parlance of race hucksters like you, and yes, I think Biden would be far more disastrous than even 4 more years of that inept tool Obama. Besides, the only color I see when I see Obama is red. The guy is a communist that’s hell bent on destroying the greatest nation on the planet. That or he is an inept, unqualified fool in a job he won because the media helped him pull an American Idol on too many people. Bite me you racist bastard Clyburn.
