Why is everyone acting as if this was not expected?

Blazing headline: “WEST VIRGINIA PRIMARY RESULTS

As I expected, Shillary lost. What I didn’t expect was all the hand wrining.

This was West Virginia. A state that has an economy with a heavy reliance on the coal industry. The other Clinton, stealing a page from Obama’s playbook, talked about how she would destroy the coal industry to appease the usual collectivist Gaia worshipers. Why would anyone think that the majority of democrats in that state would vote against their own interests, and cast a vote for Shillary? I certainly don’t know if she is unraveling or not, but I am loving the freak show.

This win was all but a given for the Bern-minator, and while it is a boon for those of us that enjoy the left eating itself up, there is a far juicier story, one of real criminal activity, to investigate.

Yeah, I know, wishful thinking. The DNC mouth pieces will never actually investigate anything unless they can use it to help democrats and hurt everyone else, so we are not going to see any justice here it looks like. Ain’t the fundamentally transformed America Obama promised us great?

One step closer to the revelation that the orders came from the WH

So now we have a Forbes article titled “Obama Justice Department Was Involved In IRS Targeting, Lerner Emails Reveal” which leaves no doubt that Eric Holder’s DOJ, which has been tasked with investigating the connection to the WH of all things, was part of the IRS scheme to attack political enemies of the left:

Sadly, the 18 month investigation into the IRS targeting of conservative groups isn’t over, and it may be worse than anyone thought. A federal judge has broken loose more emails that the DOJ had surely hoped would never surface. The picture it reveals isn’t pretty. The documents prove that Lois Lerner met with DOJ’s Election Crimes Division a month before the 2010 elections.

It has to be embarrassing to the DOJ, which may not be the most impartial one to be investigating the IRS. In fact, the DOJ withheld over 800 pages of Lerner documents citing “taxpayer privacy” and “deliberative privilege.” Yet these internal DOJ documents show Ms. Lerner was talking to DOJ officials about prosecuting tax-exempt entities (yes, criminally!) two years before the IRS conceded there was inappropriate targeting.

Ms. Lerner met with top officials from the DOJ’s Election Crimes Branch in October of 2010. Although Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the DOJ (Judicial Watch v. Department of Justice, No. 14-cv-01239), the DOJ coughed up dirt only on court order. Even then, the DOJ handed over only two pages of heavily redacted emails.

What’s more, the DOJ withheld 832 pages in their entirety. They revealed that Mr. Obama’s DOJ called an October 8, 2010 meeting with the IRS “concerning 501(c)(4) issues.” On September 30, 2010, the DOJ’s Election Crimes prosecutor emailed Ms. Lerner:

“Hi Lois-It’s been a long time, and you might not remember me, I’ve taken on [REDACTED] duties. I’m looking forward to meeting you, Can we chat in advance? I’m a [REDACTED]“

Ms. Lerner responded on October 2, 2010:

“Sure-that’s a good Idea [sic]. I have a meeting out of the office Monday morning, but will try you when I get back sometime early afternoon. You can try me at 202 283-8848.”

Documents from a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the IRS show that Ms. Lerner asked the DOJ whether tax-exempt entities could be criminally prosecuted.

Heh, that faux scandal Obama told us this was sure looks real to me, and the reason why Lerner has avoided testifying now absolutely makes sense. Of course, I am not surprised to find out she sought legal advice from the DOJ on how to abuse power. Considering that this DOJ’s primary function has been to attack the enemies of the Obama administration, coordinate criminal and illegal acts with other government agencies- such as gun running schemes to undermine support for the 2nd Amendment (Fast & Furious) or telling the EPA to usurp the power of congress when congress couldn’t pass some job killing special interest helping bullshit, for example – and to foster every and all sort of racial or sexist bullshit story that would help the democrats divert attention from their abysmal economic record, I suspect there is a lot more bad shit to be found out still.

In the end the facts will come out and we will have verification that the orders and coordination came from the WH. I don’t doubt that. These are criminals in charge of things these days after all, and criminals will commit crimes. The sad part is that they still feel they are going to get away with the crimes and are eager to commit more of them. This is what the most transparent administration evah! has amounted to. Shit, they went far beyond my wildest predictions. Of course, the Obamanauts will tell you they meant well and evil Boosh!, so there. Can you imagine the response if a republican was doing what these people are doing from the left ad the media? Fucking idiots.

More proof the WH was working with the IRS to target an enemies list

While the LSM continues to ignore the Obama Administration’s IRS scandal, a scandal that makes what Nixon did look like child’s play, and your average lefty progtard will parrot the “Faux scandal” meme every time they can get away with it, the truth is that ,a href=”http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/225970-watchdog-irs-withholding-docs-on-taxpayer-data-requests” target=”_new”>they have things they need to hide because they were abusing their power and breaking the law:

A watchdog group says the IRS is withholding documents between the agency and the White House that show inappropriate requests for taxpayer data, according to multiple reports.

Cause of Action, a nonprofit group, filed a Freedom of Information Act request asking for all correspondence between the IRS and White House about requests for tax returns of businesses or individuals.

The Treasury inspector general for tax administration has told the group that there are more than 2,000 documents potentially related to the request.

A court has said the agency must hand over the documents. But IRS officials have said that they will not release the documents, citing a part of the tax code that protects the confidentiality of individual tax returns.

It is not clear what is contained in the documents, but Cause of Action said they might be evidence of White House misdeeds.

“That indicates scandal,” said Daniel Epstein, a spokesman for the group.

“Now, potentially, there’s confidential tax information going from the IRS to the White House. Potentially — we don’t know, we’d like to see,” said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who has been a critic of the IRS under the Obama administration, said late Wednesday on Fox News.

Of course they are going to deny any wrong doing and lie about the fact that they are not abusing their power and breaking the law. The Obama WH, the big government bureaucracies that are replete with stinking progressive drones, and the demcorats in general, are doing this sort of criminal and illegal shit on practically a daily basis. The problem is that everyone, from the media which has abandoned its job of the watchdog of the American people to the majority of the political class, is all turning a blind eye to this shit. Too many of the people in the Obama administration should really be wearing orange overalls and working in a prison shop making license plates or making calls for companies selling crap or scamming people for some cause.

Black Nixon on steroids was unavailable for comment either because of golf or fund raising commitments.

If we can’t outright disolve it, this works

It looks like many others are figuring out that the checks and balances of our constitutional republic have been broken down by the rise of the nanny state, and in particular, the problems that this new fourth power branch – the unelected and unaccountable government bureaucrat – cause to our rights and freedoms are being shown by the abuse of power rampant through the Obama administration. In particular, we have the most powerful entity in the US, the IRS, targeting political opponents of the left. While the powers that be are doing their best to stall any information on how corrupt government has become under this administration, some see the danger and articulate solutions. Their proposed solution is an interesting one. From the article:

In America’s first 100 years, federal officials could be sued in state courts for acting beyond their authority. In his book Creating the Administrative Constitution, Yale law professor Jerry Mashaw chronicles how this helped temper bad behavior.

Law professor Glenn Reynolds over at Instapundit is among those who believe that government officials need more civil and criminal liability for their bad acts. There are some private remedies on the books, but they are too weak to be effective.

While I would prefer the IRS just be banned and everyone be made to pay a flat tax – a goal I doubt the nanny state would ever accede to because it would be the proverbial stake to the heart, followed by a beheading, and then the vampire corpse of the nanny state being burned to ashes, I think leaving the status quo is not an option for those of us that see this problem. This proposed legal solution might work, of course if we had a judicial system that was not already seriously compromised by the existing nanny state, to at least stem this out of control snowball effect we have right now, and that’s a good thing.

I remember many a conversation with smug leftists that told me they wanted to protect freedoms and rights back when. What’s happening now vindicates my dismissal of their claims. The left has never wanted to protect people’s freedoms or rights: it has wanted to rig the system to its favor, and has done so by choosing battles that allowed it to undermine the existing system of checks and balances. The things happening in this age of Obama are all just steps in the natural progression of the progressive agenda. In the end you will find yourself living in a totalitarian system, with an all-powerful state, run by an elite oligarchy, with the rest of the people treated as serfs. We are at a turning point. We roll this shit back, or we kiss our freedoms and prosperity goodbye.

Reign in the nanny state.

These people want to handle your medical records and decisions

Another congressional hearing, and the IRS rep is again lying through his teeth. If you ask me what the greatest talent of the Obama administration’s members is, I will have to say it is engaging in any kind of criminal activity and then lying about it. These people apparently can’t have one of the organizations that holds the power to destroy every citizen’s life hold on to basic information, yet this agency demands we tax payers be able to produce any information they request or face drastic consequences. That’s not irony, but something far worse.

And as the title of my post points out, these are the kind of people the progressives tell us should not only control the healthcare system, basically holding stewardship of our medical information, but have the power over life and death decisions. Because, you know, evil private corporations make profits. Yeah, and petty partisan bureaucrats with delusions of grandeur and a political agenda won’t abuse their power, like those at the IRS, the DOJ, the EPA, and any other entity you can name under the Obama administration, have been doing causing harm that these private entities would only have dreamed of being able to get away with. Nothing to worry about, people.

I am hoping that the call for the IRS to be abolished actually pan out, just like I hope Americans get a real break and Obamacare gets punted. Collectivism is a cancer on humanity.

Ryan Unloads

Paul Ryan unloaded on the IRS commissioner during last week’s hearings. It’s pretty sweet:

I’ll tell you what really got me about this video: the arrogant smug look on that fuck Koskinen’s face. That’s the look of a man who knows he’s full of it and who knows he has Democrats on the committee who will carry his water for him. He clearly doesn’t give a damn that he has lied to Congress, misled them, mysteriously lost documentation. And he has the arrogance to insist he and his criminal agency have done nothing wrong.

Ryan has a critical point: we are expected to maintain our records for seven years (at least). If we can not document some expense or deduction, the law assumes that we have committed a crime (and under Sarbanes-Oxley, corporations face felony charges for losing emails). But the IRS is now demanding the presumption of innocence .. for them. The insist that we give them the benefit of a doubt that they never give us.

Here’s what we should do with the IRS: burn it to the ground. I don’t mean literally (although that would be fun). I mean dismantle and replace it with a completely new agency. We need something like the IRS to make sure people pay their taxes. But we do not need an agency that is so consumed with its own vanity, so drunk on its own power and so convinced of its own superiority that it can act in this fashion.

Whether or not there is something to the IRS scandal is kind of a sideshow at this point. We have a rogue unaccountable agency that can not document its own behavior but can seize the property of American citizens and make their lives hell. Get rid of it. Kill it. Drive a stake through its heart. And build a new revenue agency that is accountable, consistent and serves the people rather than servicing them the way a bull services a cow.

The strategy is apparent

I can discuss the prevalent double standard about how the left and their cronies in the LSM handle news about scandalous behavior from their side or that of their opponents – and have no doubts that the left believes anyone not with them is the enemy – but that’s a waste of time. When it’s one of their enemies that is in potential trouble, they are swift to pass judgment, based on flimsy information, if not outright conjecture and emotional drivel. Don’t take my word for it. Research how often anyone that disagrees with King Obama or anything else the left uses to keep its hold on power, and you will find anyone being critical of them automatically being labeled as racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-science, being a terrorist, or against progress, for which of course, only they stand.

Even more important is how they will spin things, even when there are no facts to back the bullshit they peddle up, to create trouble for those they view as the enemy. If there is a way to make the enemy look bad, they go for the jugular. Nobody is spared. They will dig through the garbage of a member of the opposition they view as a threat, and make up shit if they find nothing. They will immediately accuse the enemy of having criminal intent, practically always based on flimsy or no evidence. When they do have evidence, they hammer the narrative home. They will report and accuse local or small potato members of the enemy of abuses, criminal behavior, or of not adhering to the PC standards the left created (but doesn’t hold its people to), while ignoring real crime, abuse of power, and despicable behavior by prominent members of the loyal leftocracy. If you have the wrong letter next to your political affiliation, you are assumed to be guilty, and condemned, even though they might pretend they are not doing that, whether there is something there or not. And if it is there, it is national news.

But when it comes to one of their own, the leftists, when they can’t just ignore the story, will obfuscate the facts and paint the whole thing in the most positive light possible, pretending, with all seriousness, that what they are doing is waiting for the facts to come out. The right thing to do is to not prejudge, and to wait for the whole affair to play itself out In the meantime, again unless they can just drop the story and hope it goes away, they will tell you that the blatant impropriety, abuse of power, or downright criminal activity one of their own was caught in, is all made up, and that the evil opponents of progress are just trying to make hay out of nothing. These things I mention can all be found in the lack of coverage and the continued cover-up of the now almost 2 year old IRS scandal.

What is now obvious is that the objective is to drag it out so they can tell the low information voter that the story is old. It’s why people like me have an immediate and visceral reaction whenever the left tells us we need to wait out the facts and the investigation when one of their own was caught. We have to wait for whatever is practically exhibit A for the fact that there is illegal or criminal behavior involved.

Every scandal that Team Blue is involved in seems to follow this process. The government’s role in the Fast-and-Furious (have you heard what’s going on with this anymore?) anti-second amendment scheme, the despicable cover-up of what went down in Benghazi to protect Hillary and King Obama, the IRS targeting political opponents of the left, The lies and chicanery around Obamacare, and countless other such stories all require us to wait for the facts, only to then turn into the left telling us “what does it matter now anymore”. Despicable.

IRS Scandal update

The proof that there not only is a scandal about the IRS and the DOJ colluding to fuck over conservatives, but that there was/is a massive breach of the law here has apparently not been noticed by the DNC controlled LSM, which is probably still desperately clinging to Black Jesus’ lie that this is all a manufactured scandal.

Corruption: New emails show that both the IRS and Justice Department were involved in a probe of Tea Party and other conservative groups. This is no mere scandal — it’s a major breach of the law.

The newly released emails were gathered for a Freedom of Information Act request by Judicial Watch, a nonpartisan public interest law group. They show that former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner discussed with the Justice Department going after conservative groups that she believed lied about their political activities.

What’s shocking is that this discussion came just days before Lerner acknowledged that the IRS had investigated tea-party and other conservative groups but insisted that it was an isolated incident conducted by low-level officials in the IRS’ Cincinnati office.

It was a lie. In a May 8 email to Nikole Flax, then the chief of staff to the acting IRS commissioner, Lerner discusses a phone call from Richard Pilger, who headed the Justice Department’s elections crimes unit.

According to Lerner, Pilger wondered if the IRS could help him “piece together false-statement cases about applicants who ‘lied'” on applications for tax-free status.

In a subsequent email, Lerner responded: “I think we should do it — also need to include CI (the criminal investigation unit), which we can help coordinate. Also, we need to reach out to FEC (the Federal Election Commission). Does it make sense to consider including them in this or keep it separate?”

It’s been clear for some time that this goes beyond a mere rogue IRS operation in Cincinnati. But until now, we didn’t know how far it went.

As the emails show, it was a high-level conspiracy to use the offices and powers of the federal government — including the IRS, FEC and Justice — to falsely prosecute and harass the tea party and conservative political groups that opposed the Obama administration.

I still say this is the tip of the iceberg. By now it should be blatantly obvious, not based on me saying it, but on the constant revelations from so many sources and avenues about the overarching abuses by this administration, that these people are criminals and we are all being fucked over by them. Watch the LSM now invent some other distraction to help provide cover for the democrats. It’s an election year, after all.

Richard Nixon was unavailable for comment, but I hear that if you put magnets on him and his coffin you can power New York City from the electricity him spinning in his grave would generate. Obama, on the other hand, keeps telling us to look over there, and is getting away with much worse.

Lerner Takes the Fifth

Lois Lerner, the former IRS official at the center of the IRS controversy over the targeting of Tea Party groups, took the fifth amendment again today, causing a contentious end to the hearings. There’s been a lot of foolishness thrown around in the wake of this. I’ll point you, once again, to Ken at Popehat

I’ve been seeing a lot of comments to the effect of “why should Lois Lerner take the Fifth if she has nothing to hide?” Ironically these comments often come from people who profess to oppose expansive government power, and from people who accept the proposition that Lerner was part of wrongdoing in the first place — in other words, that there was a government conspiracy to target people with the machinery of the IRS for holding unpopular political views. Such people do not seem to grasp how their predicate assumptions answer their own question.

You take the Fifth because the government can’t be trusted. You take the Fifth because what the truth is, and what the government thinks the truth is, are two very different things. You take the Fifth because even if you didn’t do anything wrong your statements can be used as building blocks in dishonest, or malicious, or politically motivated prosecutions against you. You take the Fifth because if you answer questions truthfully the government may still decide you are lying and prosecute you for lying.

Pardon me: if you accept the proposition that the government targets organizations for IRS scrutiny because of their political views, and you still say things like “why take the Fifth if you have nothing to hide”, then you’re either an idiot or a dishonest partisan hack.

Ken also gets into whether Lerner making a statement effectively waived her fifth amendment rights. The answer is that it’s not clear: court precedent is a bit murky on the subject. As I am devoted to an expansive view of civil liberties, I would err on the side of her not having waived her fifth amendment rights. I despise government weasel efforts to get around the clear intention of our Constitutional liberties. Saying she waived her rights is the kind of government lawyer trick I despise.

Watching the proceedings, however, I was struck by a parallel to the Iran-Contra Affair and, in particular, Ollie North. North’s testimony was compelled by granting him immunity because the Democrats were absolutely determined to get Ronald Reagan. When it turned out that Reagan hadn’t done anything wrong (at least nothing that could be proven beyond Democratic ranting and raving), they prosecuted North anyway. His conviction was thrown out since it’s rare that courts allow compelled testimony to be used against someone and you really can’t revoke an immunity agreement because you didn’t get what you wanted.

For what it’s worth, I think we’re seeing a similar drama play out now. The wrong-doing — at least that which can be proven — is primary confined to Lerner’s office. The Administration might have known or suspected what was going on, but there is no provable link (and before you say it, the IRS commissioner did not meet with Obama 157 times). And let’s face it: given the cult of personality built up around Obama and the culture of corruption that is rife in his government, it’s utterly believable that government flacks were acting on their own to advance the Administration’s political interests. It wouldn’t be the first time or the tenth time the Administration has let a part of the government “go rogue” because it benefitted them.

I think the Republicans know this. If they suspected they could get Obama, they would have granted Lerner immunity a year ago to get her testimony. But if the only person that Lerner’s testimony would burn is Lerner, there’s little political value to it. So every now and then, they hold a hearing, make some noise and go home.

And that’s a pity. Apart from wasting time and money, it does little to illuminate how this happened, how it can be prevented in the future and what oversights need to be put into place. This isn’t a game. The IRS wields a scary amount of power over the individual, including the ability to confiscate assets without a conviction. Whether this business hurts the President or not is kind of a side issue. If employees of the IRS are using the formidable power of the agency to advance any political agenda — whether directed by the White House or not — this is something that can’t be stopped fast enough.

(The behavior of the Democrats and their allies, of course, is utterly contemptible. They are still trying to pretend that this isn’t a scandal or, worse, that it was justified because the Tea Party is trying to destroy America. Even the bacteria in my stomach can see that they would be screaming the heavens down if this were a Republican Administration. It’s disgusting.)

Lerner should be granted immunity. If you think this was directed by the puppet master Obama, she could get immunity so we can prove it. If you think this was a rogue office advancing a political agenda with the Administration looking the other way, she could get immunity so we can figure out how to stop it. If you think is a whole lot of nothing — you possibly being an Obama Defense Derangement Syndrome sufferer who doesn’t care about the rule of law as long as the Tea Party gets it in the ass — she could get immunity so that this goes away.

I don’t like saying that since, as I noted, I think Lerner is probably the chief villain in this saga. But I would much rather get to the truth and prevent this from happening again than drag this out for another year in the vain hope that we will, one day, be able to nail her hide to the wall.
