In the same vein that water is wet and fire is hot, we get yet one more confirmation that Democrats and drunken sailors are kindred spirits (yeah, these sailors eventually sober up, feel sheepish about their abhorrent behavior and vow moderation in the future; dems however celebrate their profligacy, pat themselves on the back reveling in their good works, with the only regret that they were constrained by moderation)

Democrats in Congress sponsored 618 bills in 2013 that would have spent at least $1.35 trillion, and Republicans sponsored 147 bills worth $635 billion, according to a Washington Examiner analysis.

The figures provide an unusual insight into what members of Congress would do if they ran the show and had a free hand to spend tax dollars.

Of the 70 members who sponsored the largest number of spending bills, 65 were Democrats, four were Republicans and one an independent

The piece makes the distinction that the tally only represents proposed spending bills, like this is significant. That the particular spending bill was defeated or not brought to the floor for a vote does not mitigate the intent behind it.

There is an old analogy about bills being like sausages, both from a standpoint of the process and ingredients, but we should not get lost in the weeds over significance. Naturally the party of big government, of nanny stating, wants to spend more money, it not only aligns with their vision of the type of country they want, but it establishes and feeds that dependency in society that will require ever more spending (feeding) in the future. Their prophecy is self fulfilled, and their influence is expanded, a win/win in their minds.

One more reason why every Democrat in Congress (or holding public office for that matter) is one more hit of nitrous oxide to the gas tank of the runaway big government train. The herd mentality makes it too easy to perpetuate the damage, especially when they one up each other. I imagine getting their mugs on a list like this is a badge of honor, a testament to how much they care and are committed to that magical kingdom, that Shangri la affectionately referred to as Obamaland.

Which reminds me, time to renew my passport.
