Obamacare did that..

Who woulda thunk that there would be rate hikes on health insurance caused by the stupidity of the progressive unicorn fart sniffing crowd that passed Obamacare so we could find what was in it? Well, some of us not only predicted this, but warned others this was the pan from the start:

Major insurers in some states are proposing hefty rate boosts for plans sold under the federal health law, setting the stage for an intense debate this summer over the law’s impact.

In New Mexico, market leader Health Care Service Corp. is asking for an average jump of 51.6% in premiums for 2016. The biggest insurer in Tennessee, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, has requested an average 36.3% increase. In Maryland, market leader CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield wants to raise rates 30.4% across its products.

And on and on. Because this thing wasn’t just flawed, but set up to fail and do exactly this to those of us that actually produce and pay for these things. Since Obamacare was passed, my rates have gone up over 30%. And I was not one of the people directly impacted by the individual mandate because I had an employer sponsored plan for which the marxists behind this debacle kept pushing out the date the rules would kick in for fear of the political damage it would cost. Well, the 2014 elections are done, and the chickens are coming home to roost.

And speaking of employers: my employer has done a lot of talking about how they will not stop offering healthcare because they care about employees. This much bloviating is a red flag to me. Too much effort when they could just not even bother. Someone in the industry will sooner than later drop company provided insurance, that’s because the penalty is cheaper than paying for the insurance, and every single company in the industry will follow suit because their competitiveness is impacted – by design, mind you – to dump everyone on the government rolls.

This thing was designed to destroy the worlds most effective and efficient healthcare system – based on the medical capability and access, and not on the bullshit stats progressives like to push such as who gets care at other people’s expense – so the left could pass a single payer system that would give them even more control over the life of the serfs under them. Of course, people that have already used other branches of the government to punish dissenters, political enemies, and anyone they feel disrespected them – from the IRS to the DOJ, or the EPA – would never decide to use healthcare as a weapon against their enemies when they control it.

The left will always resort to tyranny, because that’s the natural and logical conclusion of what they believe in always leads to. The over 100 million murdered and billions made to live in misery, in the name of social justice of all things, during the last century of progressive power has not served to dissuade low information, brain washed, mushy headed idiots from voting for the people preying on their jealousy and envy.

Don’t you know that we need to break a shit ton of eggs for this giant shit omelet they want to feed us, you evil individualist! Power to the nanny state! Get ready to pay a lot more, for less, and have to wait a long ass time to get whatever mediocre service you can get. And don’t you dare complain that you though they would bleed someone else to give the slackers more free shit in return for their votes. Sad to have to admit it, but the only reason I feel justice is happening is the army of idiots that pushed for this monstrosity and are now going to take it up the ass (not that there is anything wrong with that if you are into that).

It is only a failed presidency if you don’t understand the destruction is by design

Town Hall has a post up dealing with Obama’s failed presidency. Those of us that no longer remain in the dark know better. Obama has achieved a lot of what he set out to do, as he promised he would when he made the claim he would fundamentally transform America, but the problem is with the people that think he meant to improve things. To the left and Obama the only failure on their part was to not straddle us with even more destructive marxist bullshit. More fast growing debt, millions of illegals sucking at the government’s teat, millions of people unable to find work and forced to suck at the government’s tit, millions of people that have made sucking at the government’s teat their way of life, and the middle class under assault and driven to collapse by the government tax and regulatory burden, have all been bonuses to these fucking crooks. That’s the plan they had from the start, because they think we are all too stupid and in need of micro management.

Oh yeah, the LSM must be doing battlespace preparations for the coming elections as well, considering the number of articles telling us that lying is not a bad thing. Sure this is not really about politics, but this belief that lying is a good thing is part and parcel of the left’s modus operandi. Remember Obamacare? Shit, might as well say “remember the Obama presidency?”, because it has all been lies and criminal acts.

This “IS” how collectivism always plays out, idiots…

Surprisingly, in a parody I think most leftist, including the people at the WaPo, will miss, they have an article titled “Rare diary gives details of life under Khmer Rouge“, which describes the beautiful agrarian revolution brought to Cambodia by the Khmer Rouge. From the article:

Nearly 40 years ago, hunched on the floor of the wood-and-leaf hut he was forced to live in away from his children, Cambodian school inspector Poch Younly kept a secret diary vividly recounting the horrors of life under the Khmer Rouge, the radical communist regime whose extreme experiment in social engineering took the lives of 1.7 million Cambodians from overwork, medical neglect, starvation and execution.

First off, the Khmer Rouge wasn’t radical. That’s what communism really is. A despicable cult that dehumanizes all but the oligarchy or tyrant in charge, and makes the rest of the people slaves. It will always deliver misery and death, because that’s all it can. The fucking left might have replaced old time religion with their nanny state, but the role played by these governments, no matter how well intentioned at the start, end up making the place look like hell (on earth).

The Khmer Rouge were emptying Cambodia’s cities, marching millions of people into the countryside to work as manual laborers. Their aim was to create an agrarian communist utopia, but they were turning the Southeast Asian nation into a slave state.

This was done because this was their idea of “Social Justice”, the same shit progressives bandy about today to justify their acts of theft and depravity. What is unmentioned in the article is Pol Pot’s belief that anyone educated needed to be exterminated. Collectivism requires drones. Like ants or bees, the serfs are supposed to support the state, which is represented basically the oligarchy or tyrant in charge.

Be it hard core communism, China’s new version of it, any variant of socialism, or even the soft crony socialism hat has pissed the prosperity created by the very systems it so despises and seeks to eradicate, the left has straddled the west with these days, the end game will always be a state where a select few or single entity holds all power and privilege. The masses will be no better than slaves, living in misery and at the whim of their masters and the army of petty bureaucrats that enforce the will of the all powerful nanny state, whom all will remind the serfs of that at every opportunity, even as the dumb serfs are fed platitudes about their rights to free shit and how good they got it now that we have “Social Justice”.

This man was killed because he didn’t like what the state demanded of him. Have no doubt that today’s left, given the opportunity, would do exactly the same to all of us that now stand in their way of implementing those “Social Justice” measures we clearly see leading to more of the same. Collectivism is probably the most evil idea to ever be foisted on humanity. Past the family unit it becomes a coercive system that deprives man of dignity and purpose. Life is not fair, but beware those that promise they can redress that, for they will do far, far worse to us than any capricious entity or fate. My experience has been that the harder I work, the luckier I have gotten. And the envy of those that do not want to work hard, but expect to get where the hard workers are, by virtue of the fact they simply exist and are thus owed (a major pillar of collectivism), can always be counted on to drag down the productive. And it is always someone else’s fault that things don’t work out as promised, or that the nanny state resorts to force, coercion, lies, and murder to hide what it is doing or force compliance.

A dark age is coming again if we don’t end the direction these progressives are taking us in. Wait until the petty bureaucrat tells you there will be no medical treatment because you have not shown them or the state proper humility and gratitude. Or worse, because you are a non conformist and don’t like the “Brave new world” they have given us. That Second Amendment is going to be key to putting a stop to this slide into oblivion. Man were those old white men with wigs smart and prescient.

Another myth about “The Party of the Little People” getting busted?

And it is about time. People are wizening to the fact the people ripping them off the hardest are those that have been claiming, for decades, to be on their side and they are not happy. It is not a mistake that when progressives grab power, the policies they put into place to redress the wrongs they constantly harp about, actually do the exact opposite of what they tell everyone they want to do. The last few years, with democrats controlling the purse stings and calling all the shots, after their policies were instrumental in creating a crisis they then conveniently blamed only the other side for, have been disastrous for everyone but the connected and those voting for a living.

The number of poor and people out of work and/or sucking on the government teat has grown drastically to numbers that are staggering. Our economy has taken a beating of epic proportions – while the people that set the policies up that caused the damage and keep causing the damage pretend it is everyone else’s fault- and looks to only get worse. Real unemployment numbers are hidden by a formula that discounts those that no longer get assistance or can’t find any work but part time work, and the numbers of people unable to find jobs or improve their existing conditions keep rising. Our healthcare system has been taken over by government, and from the looks of how government does things, we are all about to pay far, far more, for far, far less quality, access, or care. all while slamming both economic productivity and opportunity for all people. The middle class is under assault from a welfare state that punishes anyone that decides to engage in a responsible and grown up way, while rewarding every sort of dysfunction and of instant gratification. And anyone that tries to bring these things to light, defies them, or stands in their way, risks brutal retaliation from these members of the “Party of the little People”.

The lies that democrats, which claim to be just one of the normal people, but are anything but, are unraveling finally. If you want to get rich, you go into government. If you want to get stinking rich, get to fuck over people, and keep pretending you are just a little guy or care for the little guy while living like kings, you go into government as a democrat. Like communism, which promised the common man equality and opportunity previously denied, but then delivered him to unbelievable misery under a new and crueler set of masters, the progressive movement can only deliver more of the same. Nobody beats the democrats at abuse of power, corruption, and criminal activity. I think that for anyone that isn’t blinded by partisan politics the revelations of the current administration’s incessant criminality all but puts that debate to rest. But the believers want to believe, and nothing will dissuade them, even as the future with the left in charge is playing out on a micro scale for all to see.

So, queue in the Clintons and their recent defense of their wealthy and cushy life. This will be the Obamas in a few years. These are the great defenders of the common man. Now if only the idiots that suck these people’s dicks and ask for seconds could wizen up. We might yet have a chance to stave off the coming apocalypse caused by decades of these people “helping the little guy”. Beware the do-gooder, for they are usually charlatans, and be doubly weary of the true believer, because these type of fanatics are those that will bring the most misery thinking they are doing something righteous.

An idea I am behind..

The next big bubble that will burst, if the wholehousing market or government money printing & incessant borrowing leftist agenda, and forced anti-savings money policies, which the Europeans have adopted, doesn’t blow up on us yet again, will be the student loan bubble. There is another $1.2 trillion of tax payer liability, waiting to blow up as the economic policies of the nanny staters create even more unemployment for the people leaving college with massive debts. And when it goes, you can bet that it will be those of us that bailed the government, their friends and donors in the “Too big to fail” industries, and are now paying for the democrats to buy enough votes to give them more than even odds at retaining power and causing more misery for us all, that will foot the bill for that too.

So you can see why I live the idea of having colleges be partially responsible for giving out student loans. It would both act as a deterrent on the faster-than-inflation rise in higher education costs, and the idiotic admission policies that have turned everything but the hard science and engineering schools of practically all universities and colleges into indoctrination camps for the lefts idiotic ideas. That’s probably why nobody on the left would ever want to put a policy like this in place either, but it would definitely address the problems affecting the higher education establishment, and our country as a whole, all at once.

If a college or university lets an under qualified high risk of failure applicant in, usually over better qualified ones, and they fail, then having to pony up lets say 60% of what that student owes will act as the best deterrent against these stupid policies. Similarly, letting students attend college for a fortune to learn skills that will not qualify them to do anything but flip burgers, will wipe out all these fringe and useless degrees people pay an arm and a leg for, usually so they can party hard for however many years it takes to get a degree these years. I am sure the fluff schools, where most of the leftist indoctrination and monolithic thinking goes on these days, wouldn’t want something like this, ever. It would be the end of their goose that laid the golden egg era.

So, yeah none of the academic institutions now profiting of the incestuous relationships between the government mandated loans and their institutions, and even the leftists in government, would suffer from such a move, but the students and the tax payers that foot the bills when the students default, currently screwed over by these institutions and their buddies in government that like the deal because they get a lot of leftist indoctrinated drones that will vote for them, sure would.

Maybe that’s precisely why we will not get it ever. Right now the progtards are getting the best of all worlds in this exchange. The left has too much to lose, and they love doing things that make them rich and powerful, as long as they don’t have to foot the bill themselves.

Are we there yet?

While desperate democrats, worried about the well-deserved shellacking that should be coming their way in the election at the end of this year, are desperately pissing away tax payer dollars to ward off the disastrous consequences of their economic policies, the truth about how horrible the impact on said policies on the economy is can’t be hidden:

Despite adding more than 8 million people to the working-age population since 2007, total employment has declined by half a million, according to an analysis by the Senate Budget Committee.

Before President Barack Obama took office 259.7 million people were part of the working-age population, or between ages 16 and 65. Now, the number has risen to 267.7 million.

However, in the same time period, total employment declined from 146.3 million to 145.7 million. In other words, 531,000 fewer people have jobs.

“This statistic highlights an alarming trend that has embodied the president’s economic policies: more and more people are leaving the workforce entirely,” according to the analysis, which was released by Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.). “There are 58 million working-age people who are not working, and the labor force participation rate stands at 62.8 percent, the lowest level in 36 years.”

And while most leftards would point out s large chunk of those that have left the workforce are now on some form of government assistance, be it unemployment compensation, which usually means they are subsiding on a fraction of what they should be earning in a decent economy, disability – lots of people are scamming the system after their unemployment benefits end, and filing for SS disability to cover the income gap caused by class warfare economics – or the traditional welfare system that has bought democrats such power. Wait until the unconstitutional and soon to come “we get to pick who wins and who loses” regulations by the EPA (where they work real hard and are so righteous), or the fallout from the employer mandate (not to be confused as two employed guys going out on a date) of Obamacare pile on and double down on the economy wrecking. You would have thunk people would learn from the Carter years what happens when democrats do their thing.

At least there is some justice in the universe, as one of Obama’s main voting blocks also is the one feeling the most pain from his idiotic economic-illiterate class warfare policies. A large swat of these poor dolts could benefit from finding out that they have been sold a bunch of lies about college by the class warriors, and a whole lot of other marxist and green loving nonsense that passes for being educated these days. The left is beyond stupid, and they are not even bright enough to realize they are the ones suffering the most while their masters get rich.

Unintended consequence!

Or something. Yeah, sure. What do you ask am I talking about? Well, the left’s recent realization that carrying a shit-ton of student debt will prevent you from buying a home. Now the left limits it to first time home buyers, but it applies to any homebuyer at all: if you have a student debt that is as big as a mortgage you have shown you are not a reliable debtor to most sane lending entities. From the article:

The growing student loan burden carried by millions of Americans threatens to undermine the housing recovery’s momentum by discouraging, or even blocking, a generation of potential buyers from purchasing their first homes.

Recent improvements in the housing market have been fueled largely by investors who snapped up homes in the past few years. But that demand is waning as prices climb and mortgage rates rise. An analysis by the Mortgage Bankers Association found that loan applications for home purchases have slipped nearly 20 percent in the past four months compared with the same period a year earlier.

First-time buyers, the bedrock of the housing market, are not stepping up to fill the void. They have accounted for nearly a third of home purchases over the past year, well below the historical norm, industry figures show. The trend has alarmed some housing experts, who suspect that student loan debt is partly to blame. That debt has tripled from a decade earlier, to more than $1 trillion, while wages for young college graduates have dropped.

The fear is that many young adults can no longer save for a down payment or qualify for a mortgage, impeding the housing market and the overall economy, which relies heavily on the housing sector for growth, regulators and mortgage industry experts said.

And if only the poor shlobs had the debt to deal with. But most are also hampered with useless degrees, lack of jobs and job opportunities, living in momma’s basement, and the whole culture of entitlement that tells them they should demand everything yesterday.

Of course, nobody foresaw this. Oh, shit I can’t keep the pretense up. We pointed this out a decade ago, and got told we where trying to deny the young a better future. And yet, we are back to doing more of the same. We keep telling them to rack up the debt. We keep putting policies in place that destroy the job market. We keep undermining education and turning it into liberal dogma school instead of teaching them something of value. And most important of all, we keep pretending the failed shit the left believes in can be made to work regardless of what over a century of proof has shown us. Hey, but they are promising you free shit that will cost you and arm and a leg.

I am sure the left’s answer will be more of the same shit that caused the problem though, because the right people or laws are not in place to defy human nature or the laws of economics, yet again. Say, what’s the definition of insanity again?

L.A. Times misses the real picture

The L.A. Times has a short article titled Record number of educated women are ‘marrying down’, where they bandy the following set of statistics:

A record number of American women are “marrying down,” tying the knot with a husband who is less educated than they are, according to a new study.

Nearly 21% of married women in 2012 were better educated than their spouses, a threefold jump from 1960, according to the Pew Research Center. By contrast, a bit less than 20% of men had more formal education than their wives.

In the more than half-century that Pew has tracked the issue, this is the first time that a higher percentage of women than men have married down.

Considering how hostile the education environment has become to males, I am not surprised this is happening. The subject has been researched by many, but most of the time it gets ignored outright by the powers that control the education establishment, because the results suit the agenda. Behavior that used to be categorized as “boys will be boys” now a days lands you on a psych’s couch and results in a whole spectrum of behavior disorder diagnoses ranging from ADHD to ADD, all resulting in kids being drugged into submission. And the touchy feely shit, more concerned with promoting self esteem and preventing kids from actually doing hard work (all because the feminized system pretends competition now is a bad thing) that passes for education these days, drives young boys to boredom, and results in them checking out. If I had had to go to school in this system, I would likely have given up on it too.

Of course, the L.A. Times could not be bothered with trying to figure out why young men are quitting the failed educational establishment in record numbers. As I pointed out, the agenda supersedes the outright destructive result the left’s education agenda has caused on young males. So they only point out that more women go to college now, and that means that when they go look for someone to marry, they find fewer and fewer people to marry up to. But that’s not the statistic that caught my eye in this article, because I already expected this to be the case.

Among college-educated newlyweds, 39% of women pledged their undying devotion to a non-grad. Only 26% of men did the same.

Even with their superior education, however, women aren’t necessarily marrying down when it comes to income, according to the report.

About 58% of better-educated women earned less than their husbands. Only 39% of women earned a higher salary.

So the L.A. Times wants to stress the “war on women” bullshit again, because despite more of them having a college degree, they still don’t earn as much as their less educated counterparts. Of course, I can immediately see a very logical reason for why this happens that I suspect the L.A. Times types would never even factor in, unless they were beaten about the head, neck, breasts, and chest with, and that is that not every college degree is worth the same while some non college related careers come with serious income.

My suspicion is that a very large percentage of these college educated women ended up studying the same stuff. They seem to all be attracted to certain professions or educational tracts, and no, I am not being misogynistic in pointing that out. When I did my BS work there were no women in that entire class, and when I did my MS, there where like maybe 5 in over 400 students. Most women flock to the same type of degrees, and they tend to be degrees in already highly contested professions or of little damned employable value (“womyn studies” anyone?). This imbalance as the already crowded employee pool gets swamped with even more candidates results in a glut in the market, which then results in deflation of value or compensation. If, for example, most women studied education, a profession already difficult to get work in because there are so many people looking for the same jobs (usually so they can get the summers off), then they are not going to get paid much when the balance favors the employer.

Conversely, many boys, now completely turned off from the educational experience and aware that college will be more of the same, are flocking to the trades. Plumbers, electricians, auto mechanics, HVAC technicians, and so on, are professions that can’t be outsourced easily and traditionally pay real well. I had a plumber in the other day to do some work I didn’t want to do myself, and for about 30 minutes of work the guy – which I add is a friend and gave me a rate cut – charged me a little over $275. Electricians do even better. To avoid my insurance company not honoring my homeowners I once decided to let a certified electrician do some bullshit work I could easily have done myself. The guy, which I knew through someone else pocketed $900 for about 4 hours, of which he spent less than 1 doing any work. When I commented on it he told me he had given me a big break. I checked, because I thought he had fleeced me, and it turned out he did give me a break.

A few years as an apprentice and a BA in some business related school, and you can open your own shop and make a serious killing. The opportunities abound. Heck, even if you choose to work for someone else, if you have a decent work ethnic, know your shit, and apply yourself even a bit, you can make a killing. And if you happen to score a job working for a unionized shop doing work for the government, you are going to be rolling in the dough. Especially if you are in an area where there is a deficit of these available handy man types. So these non-college educated males can suddenly make a real good income, while their educated female counterparts with the traditional female centric degrees are experiencing the exact opposite.

I think what the L.A. Times should have reported on was the fact that we all need to revisit the whole “A college degree will let you earn more” debate. Some degrees will do that. Some, especially if they leave you indebted, won’t. Ever. And more importantly, some of the older trades that have fallen out of favor still afford people an opportunity not at just an honest and decent living, but can allow hard workers to make a serious killing. In short, there is no magic bullet, and it all rests with the person involved. How you get your education, how you pay for it, what you learn, how hard you work and how good you are/get at it, all factor into the equation. It is no wonder that so many women are turning to government to supplement for their lack of security. This is not accidental either, IMO, but part & parcel of the agenda.

And if you want to accuse anyone of conducting a “War on women”, then you should be accusing the assholes that control the educational establishment and the political class that has told a couple of generations the lie that hocking your future by straddling yourself with an education related debt that is akin to a mortgage is a guarantee for success, of being the ones doing it. Educate yourself before you let the system send you to the school of hard knocks to find out the system took advantage of you and made you into a dependent serf.

If this is for real, it is real sad

The Atlantic has an article about where young people today find themselves titled Highly Educated, Highly Indebted: The Lives of Today’s 27-Year-Olds, In Charts, where they ask and answer the question:

What are today’s young adults really like? For those who’ve spent too much time gazing into the dark recesses of Thought Catalog or obsessing over “Girls,” the Department of Education has a new report that offers up some enlightening answers.

Three of the graphs stand out to me, and tell a real scary story. The first is a breakdown of education trends.

education level for 27 year olds

More than 84 percent of today’s 27-year-olds have some college education. Only a third have a bachelor’s degree.

The second graph is about how much those that went to college borrowed to pay for that experience:

About half of today's 27-year-olds borrowed students loans.

About half of today’s 27-year-olds borrowed students loans.

Finally, you get the last graph showing what these people earn:

earnings for a 27 year old

In 2011, today’s 27-year-olds were more likely to be earning less than $15,000 a year from work than they were to be earning more than $40,000.

I was earning over $40K and had zero debt (until I got married) by the time I was 27, and that was almost 25 years ago. Sure, I am probably not your average person, but I don’t see myself as anything special either, so these numbers leave me scratching my head. That we have so few kids, over a quarter of a century later, more in debt, and earning so little, is not a good trend.

More debt, less education, and the worse thing possible, less opportunity, after some of the hardest “social justice” years is not a good sign for that concept, now is it?

This is probably why so many of you can’t get a job

I have become convinced that college no longer is an investment worth making for most people. The simple truth is that not every degree is created equally, and it is more than what college the degree comes from. While many people are impressed when someone tells them that they have an Ivy League degree, I have to admit that I often have the opposite reaction. I have dealt with too many Ivy leaguers that were full of themselves, thinking they knew it all, and knew it better, but were seriously deficient skill wise. And maybe I am biased, based on my own academic path, but I have often found that practically all people with degrees outside economics, medicine, the hard science fields, engineering, and law – although not of late – had been given a raw deal: they paid far more than they got for that money. Plopping down anywhere from $100K to $200K, for a college degree that leaves you woefully unprepared for the employment world, and compounds the pain by also leaving you with a head full of bullshit liberal claptrap, is definitely a big mistake.

The problem, as I see it is this notion that kids get told going to college is enough to guarantee them more success. Things don’t work that way. What you study, and more importantly, what you choose to learn in that field of study, and its application in the employment world is critical. Especially when you factor in the cost. Sure, if mommy and daddy are willing to blow $200k for their snowflake to attend an Ivy League school and major in junk like “Womyn Studies”, that’s their choice. But when your parents, or worse, you yourself, have to carry a loan debt that equals a mortgage to pay for the same kind worthless experience, you might as well find a tall building to throw yourself off of. Don’t be surprised when you can’t find any employment other than flipping burgers or ringing out people at the cash register. Sure you can argue that it is just my opinion, but those “skills” you paid so much for are worthless to any employer in the real world.

So when I read an article like this one, I can’t help but feel vindicated. If your college experience is to party hard and avoid any and all serious work, don’t feel slighted when employers shun you like they would a crack addict. College is the only massive investment people seem to be willing to make where so many work so hard to avoid trying getting the most for their money. Heck, I am not saying it needs to be hell and you can’t have any fun, but shit, how hard is it to figure out that if the only things you come out having learned after that investment of time and money is how to avoid work, how to party, and a massive case of douchebag progressive entitlement and ideology, that no employer running a decent business will really see any value in you? About the only thing you are qualified for are minimum skill and wage jobs and government employment.

We need to stop lying to kids about college. Not all degrees are equal. And your employment opportunities are directly tied to how hard you work to learn skills valuable to a potential employer. Pursuing what you love when what you love has no real world value to employers, is a recipe for disaster. Now if we could only reform the K-12 system to actually teach valuable skills instead of the indoctrination that passes for an education these days.
