Achilles Has Fallen

Sad news this morning about the passing of a true conservative icon:

With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart.

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

Saying that I am shocked would be an understatement. Dead at 43, Holy Smokes. Leaving a wife, 4 young children, and a grateful nation.

I visited his site religiously, finding much to write about here. Andrew and Matt Drudge were pioneers in the field. They revolutionized the way news and politics gets desemminated to the masses. They ushered in a new dawn of social media. Andrew saw, like many of us, that the LSM was falling down on the job, had prostituted their services and abandoned their mandate to provide the unvarnished news to folks. Exposing government corruption, media bias, and doing it in a fashion that made us all proud. He relished in his fights with the left, who was so used to steam rolling and bullying the opposition, that when confronted with some one who not only fought back, but gave as well as he took.

A principled man, a man of conviction, and a good conservative who decided early on that he was not going to take any shit from the other side, to poke his thumb in to the eye of hypocrisy, and have fun doing it.

I will miss him.

Update: it sounds like a massive heart attack, He was walking late last night when he just collapsed on the sidewalk, paramedics were called but they were unable to revive him.
