How does CBSNews handle their credibility issues?  Why, they hire as a publicist the organizer of the Million Mom March.

This is to let you know that Donna Dees, whom many of you may remember from her previous stint at CBS News (1987-93), will join our press office next Monday, Jan. 10, as senior press representative responsible for the CBS EVENING NEWS, the CBS EVENING NEWS weekend editions and FACE THE NATION. In the interim, Donna founded and organized the Million Mom March, which took place in May 2000, and served as a communications consultant for CBS for the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, among other projects. She is an exceptionally smart and savvy publicist, and we are very lucky to have her rejoin CBS News.

Apparently the perception of CBS’s liberal bias can be solved by hiring an ultra-liberal publicst to explain the bias away.  You can’t make this up, folks.  Oh, that liberal media.

Update: Allow me to elaborate on my point here.  CBS has been third in the ratings since Jesus was a mess cook.  In the sunset of his career, Dan Rather comes up with one of the most boneheaded, monumental media blunders in years, and subsequently tenders his resignation.  CBS has been presented with a golden opportunity to remake its news department, and restore credibility that has been so sadly dwindled during the Rather years.  So, what do the geniuses at CBS do?  They hire as their publicist a rampant partisan liberal, someone who couldn’t be more biased, a move so gobsmackingly stupid it simply boggles the mind.
