"To what purpose are powers limited, and to what purpose is that limitation committed to writing, if these limits may, at any time, be passed by those intended to be restrained?" -- Chief Justice John Marshall, Marbury v. Madison, 1803 Monday, January 08, 2007Respect for the Law

I’m shocked, shocked to read that people who have no respect for the borders of the United States show no respect for its other laws, either.
Since we haven’t discussed immigration in quite some time, allow me to go back on the record. I’m with much of the GOP in believing that illegal immigration is a serious problem, both from social and national security standpoints, and must be addressed. However, I differ from most of the GOP in that I don’t view immigration itself as a problem at all. The solution to illegal immigration is legal, documented immigration. Let these people into the country, but set the system up so we know who is here, where they are, and what they’re doing.
