Republican Zombies
by Lee

Once again the Kool-Aid Drinkers take any slight expression of dissent as treason.  This morning I posted a criticism of Republican economic policy, and immediately a number of readers, some of whom have been participating here for months, immediately pointed their fingers at me and accused me of being a Kerry-voting liberal.

Obviously our host has been hit with a few too many California ultraviolet rays (something about those things out there in particular).  It seems you’ve bought into the whole “tax cuts need to be paid for” BS that the libs have been pounding home for the last 20 years.

If you’re a true conservative, you know that a growing economy creates wealth, which in turn increases federal revenue.  This happened under Reagan.  Therefore, tax cuts do not need to be “paid for”.

Where in my post did I talk about tax cuts needing to be paid for?  What I said was that Bush has cut taxes, but at the same time has significantly increased spending.  Not only on the war, mind you, but on ridiculous social programs and other traditionally-Democratic areas.  How is this Republican?  How is this Reaganeaque?  How is this conservative?  Cut taxes all you like, I totally support that.  But you cannot cut taxes and grow government at the same time, period.  I’m not a deficit alarmist by any means, and I’ve said so a billion times on this blog.  But Reagan’s deficit spending was done with a specific goal in mind, whereas the only goal Bush has is to get himself reelected.

Lee, are you having a “Sybil” here?  First you suggest that taxes need to be increased, then say that the GOP is not for small government.  Obviously, neither are you if you think taxes need to be raised.

No.  What I am doing is recognizing the simple, undeniable fact that the monumental levels of spending that Bush is engaging in right now are going to have to be paid for some day, at some time.  Do you deny that?  Or do you think that we can just keep spending billions and billions fo dollars willy-nilly, all with the mythical promise that somehow it’ll all work itself out in the end?  Look, that’s how the Democrats have been funding Social Security for the past 60 years, and we all know how well that plan has worked, don’t we?  Again, this is a conservative message?  This is what the Republican Party stands for?  Are you people for real?

Tax cuts increase revenues, this is true.  But we’re also engaged in a war.  Are you not willing to sacrifice anything to fund that war?  How can you sit there into deluding yourself into believing that the GOP stands for smaller government?  They used to, but they’re almost no better than the Democrats any more.  We now have to choose between massive government on the Republican side and even more massive government on the Democrats.  Some wonderful choice we have there.

Someone needs to check to see if Lee has a Kerry bumpersticker now.

And there we have it.  Anyone who dares to think for themselves, to face facts about the Bush presidency, is suddenly a Kerry voter.  You people are fucking pathetic sometimes.  Honestly, how can you be longtime readers of this blog, and have seen me address these issues time and time again, and still come right off the bat with this bullshit?

Un-fucking-believable.
