Political Correctness: It’s the Bomb!
by Lee

New York City is planning on conducting random searches of the bags carried by passengers on public transit systems like trains and subways.  This seemed like a pretty stupid idea to me, a total waste of resources, not to mention a gross violation of civil rights.  But it was when I read this particular piece of idiocy that I almost jumped out of my chair.

People who do not submit to a search will be allowed to leave, but will not be permitted into the subway station. The police commissioner said officers would take pains to avoid singling people out for searches based on race or ethnicity.

“No racial profiling will be allowed,” Mr. Kelly said. “It’s against our policies. But it will be a systematized approach.”

He added, “We’ll give some very specific and detailed instructions to our officers on how to do it in accordance with our laws and the Constitution.”

Okay, let’s get this straight.  We’re facing a threat from young, Arabic Muslim males carryng bombs.  The NYC government understandably wants to protect its citizens from this threat.  So what do they do to protect us from young, Arabic Muslim males carryng bombs?  They waste precious police resources checking little old ladies and God knows who else, all so that they can’t later be accused of “racism.”

Look, if someone snatches a purse, and the victim tells the police that the guy who attacked her was a white guy with a beard, the police don’t go around stopping and questioning clean shaven black men out of some sense of political correctness.  To do so would be a monumental waste of police manpower, and so is this random searches crap.  If you’re going to search packages, fine, but focus the searches on the people who, as a group, are responsible for 100% of the terrorist threat in this country: Young, Arabic Muslim males.
