GripeBoy’s Asshat Stew
by

He’s a PDX favorite: GripeBoy’s Asshat Stew.

Remember, all ingredients have too cook together just right or it’s just soup.

1 militant Latino activist group - the kind with a race-baiting spokesperson
(I prefer to use Guatamalans or Hondurans but Mexicans will work in a pinch. When ordering at the ethnicity counter, remember that “Latino” only applies in the afternoon. Use “Hispanic” when ordering in the morning.)
1 city council of guilty white liberals
1 race-baiting mayor who storms out of council meetings
1 diverse neighborhood not defined by any one ethnic group or business
1 pointless waste of time and money
1 package of overly complicated city rules, regulations and ordinances for changing the names of streets
$100000 in unnecessary cost to small businesses (Use your judgment here. No one can know the true cost.)
Pinch of “Chicanos” weighing in on the definition of “Latino” and “Hispanic”.

Stir all ingredients together in a pot, sit back and watch the magic. After many weeks, change course and move to rename another street. (Try to quell the militant uprising.)

Pour into numerous newspaper articles and blog posts. Garnish with a sprinkle of Chinese in Chinatown that don’t want a street named after another ethnicity’s dead activist/leader running through their neighborhood.

Serves: small group of asshats

Community upset Chavez renaming would run through Chinatown

Members of Portland’s Chinese Community voiced their opposition Sunday night to the Portland City Council’s decision to rename 4th Avenue Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

The street runs right through Chinatown, and many who attended a community meeting Sunday felt the name change did not reflect the area.

“We in the chinese community had no input in this matter whatsoever,” said Richard Louie of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Assn.

A proposal to rename Interstate Avenue for Chavez had been hotly contested for months. In a sudden shift, the City Council voted 4-1 last week to rename 4th Avenue, which runs right under the Chinatown gates, to Cesar Chavez.

This debate has been raging for weeks and all I can do is sit back a laugh. Fucking delicious.
