"To what purpose are powers limited, and to what purpose is that limitation committed to writing, if these limits may, at any time, be passed by those intended to be restrained?" -- Chief Justice John Marshall, Marbury v. Madison, 1803 Who Killed The Brand? At the risk of sounding like Andrew Sullivan, let me show, again, why Obama’s campaign matters and why it represents the death-knell for Bush Era Republicanism.
Those who are worthy of survival are those who can learn from their past mistakes. It will take a long time for the Republican party and conservatism’s image to recover from the Bush years. The road to recovery begins in November, and for their own sake I hope the GOP takes it.

Look at the example of Harry Truman. He left office with Bush-like approval ratings and now is well-regarded by many historians. He ranks as one of my top 5 favorite Presidents. I wonder if Bush will follow suit. Posted by on 07/07/08 at 11:55 PM from
After reading nothing but sappy hagiographic eulogies of Jesse-motherfucking-Helms for the past four days, I would say that the Republican Party is not even close to hearing the wake-up call. Posted by Ed Kline on 07/07/08 at 11:58 PM from
