Right Thinking From The Left Coast

White Collaring For A Living

The next time a liberal complains about “The rich,” remind them that some of them actually earned it.

Sure, many of us have the luxury of taking a few minutes here and there during the “work day” to surf the Internet or, indeed, even write blog posts.  But our day doesn’t end when we step out of the office.

It’s not just that we’re chained to the job with our email and ubiquitous BlackBerries.  Were it not for those conveniences, most of us would be forced to spend more time in the office rather than having the flexibility to work from home on occasion.  Even when we’re not consciously working, we’re fretting over the next day’s presentations, looking ahead to various problems, and otherwise engaged in work.
....

To be sure, there are those who are rich even though they don’t do much.  Some people win the lottery.  Others inherit lots of money because someone related to them worked really hard and left it to them.  But the vast majority of those who inhabit the upper reaches of the income distribution are there because they’ve worked really hard for a long time.

For every Kenneth Lay or “Wall Street speculator,” there are many executives and managers who are doing their jobs honestly and working to make sure that their business stays afloat and their employees can keep their jobs. That’s not to say that there can’t be satisfaction in being a working stiff-if you’re a skilled worker you can make a decent wage and take pride in a job well done, too. But those who would punish the “Wealthy” on behalf of the working class seem to forget that it’s the wealthy who give the working class their livelihood.

Obama wants to tax businesses more. Every community he visits he talks about creating more jobs right there. The guy is insane. He has no idea where the money comes from to hire people to do things. He is not experienced in anything other than raising $400 million from that single form on his website, then spending that $400 million within a year. Normal businesses don’t operate like that.

I know people that are rolling in cash like Scrooge McDuck - oddly enough, they all have to spend a lot of time at the office working....

One of my biggest complaints about the left is their unabashedness in pitting Americans against each other in this economic class warfare, all while trying to claim the mantle of unity.
