So, are you a Republican or a Banana Republican? I know which one I am, and I know which kind are running the show right now.

I agree with Lee and WestVirginia Rebel. Since when has being a republican only meant being against abortion, gay rights, and the theory of evolution?
I have been saying to my friends and family for years now (most of whom are long time republicans) that the people running the party are not republicans by any sort. I don’t mean they aren’t true republicans because of some old outdated definition from the early 1800’s, I mean the party has totally changed in just the last 15 years.
They are Southern Democrats. All the old southern democrats slowly lost thier seats and power because even people in the south got sick and tired of the corruption and outdated philosophies of the party. Republicans were getting the votes, so many people of the old democratic party just started calling themselves Republicans.
I guess it was a good strategy, Southern “Republicans” have been controlling our govenment for the last six years.
I just get sick and tired of people thinking that because I am a Republican, then I must think along the lines of the “Southern Republicans”.
