The president has been getting lots of kudos for a lightning-fast, Mr. Miyagi-worthy swipe he employed to slay a pesky house fly that was buzzing him in mid-interview during a taping with CNBC that aired Wednesday.
“He stopped the interview to track and kill the fly,” said talk show host Conan O’Brien.
“That’s some pretty impressive hand-eye coordination right there,” Jimmy Fallon gushed. “Makes Obama look like a bad ass.”
But now People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, calling it an “execution,” wants the commander-in-chief to show a little more compassion to even “the least sympathetic animals.”
“Believe it or not, we’ve actually been contacted by multiple media outlets wanting to know PETA’s official response to the executive insect execution,” a blog on the group’s website explained. “In a nutshell, our position is this: He isn’t the Buddha, he’s a human being, and human beings have a long way to go before they think before they act.”
The group has sent Obama a device that traps a fly so it can then be released outside.
“We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals,” PETA spokesman Bruce Freidrich explained.
A fucking house fly. Such idiocy makes me feel so much better. Here’s the video, for those of you who haven’t seen it.
Trust PETA to come out against one of the few Obama actions I’ve approved of. I guess it’s a refreshment from the strange worship the Great Fly Kill of 2009 has provoked from the rest of the media, who have been repeating that Miyagi comparison until I want to put an axe through the TV. You see, I knew Mr. Miyagi. And Obama is no Mr. Miyagi.
Man I am ready to give it to Obama, with both barrels when he screws up, and man does he do that often and in a big way, but I agree that this PETA thing is just plain and simply beyond stupid. How do people get like these morons in PETA? Einstein was right when he pointed out the two most common elements in the universe where Hydrogen and stupidity. And these PETA people seem to have the stupidity market cornered.

I love that… “He’s no Buddha.” WTF?
So when is PETA going to come out against using soap to kill germs?
I hope that he uses the humane fly trap to catch flies and allow them to starve or use them to make a sweet fly-powered paper airplane to buzz around the Oval Office. On camera.

Remember the mini scandal a little while back? PETA’s animal shelters weren’t killing many times as many strays as they placed for adoption and just dumping the bodies into dumpsters (violating health codes in at least one city). PETA isn’t really about being nice to animals. It’s about cultivating an image through celebutard spokechicks so that people give them money.
My twin brother had juvenile asthma. He survived childhood because of drugs that were tested on animals, something that PETA thinks we shouldn’t do. Fuck them all (in the ass, with a serrated dildo made out of chimpanzee bones).
Can we just take PETA Members out and use them for shark bait or something?

The PETAzoids need to Get A Life. I remember when they “Pied” the Iowa Pork Queen---if I’d been there, the PETA assclowns who did that would have been on their way to the hospital (or morgue) and...what an amazing coincidence, nobody saw nothin’! I am Not Fond of teenage girls, but needlessly tormenting one strikes me as cruel and cowardly.
I wish they and Westboro Baptist Church would go after each other...I wouldn’t know which side to cheer for.
I saw that, and she is hot. That said, her grandfather has done more damage to this planet than any legion of carrot-poppers could repair. Nice to see that being part of the problem still runs in the family.

Not to nitpick… but I will, The hydrogen and stupidity quote is from Harlan Ellison. :)
“The two most common elements in the universe are Hydrogen and stupidity.” Harlan Ellison (1934 - )
Oh and PETA is pretty damn useless, Please reference the following on “sea-kittens” for yet another example.
It seems once a fly landed on Abraham Lincoln. Now a fly has landed on Obama. So Obama is jsut like Lincoln. This is worthy of the Onion but it is a straight AP piece.
How quickly they soured us on their ideology, huh?
