Say It Again, Sam

There’s at least one person who isn’t afraid to call it what it is:

The Environment Minister Sammy Wilson has angered green campaigners by describing their view on climate change as a “hysterical psuedo-religion”.

In an article in the News Letter, Mr Wilson said he believed it occurred naturally and was not man-made.

“Resources should be used to adapt to the consequences of climate change, rather than King Canute-style vainly trying to stop it,” said the minister.

Peter Doran of the Green Party said it was a “deeply irresponsible message.”

Mr Wilson said he refused to “blindly accept” the need to make significant changes to the economy to stop climate change.

“The tactic used by the “green gang” is to label anyone who dares disagree with their view of climate change as some kind of nutcase who denies scientific fact,” he said.

The minister said he accepted climate change can occur, but does not believe the cause has been identified.

“Reasoned debate must replace the scaremongering of the green climate alarmists.”

Look, I think it’s safe to say that there’s something going on. But the evidence suggests that the Sun may be one of the main culprits of climate change, as Martians, if they existed, could attest. But the Cult of Global Warming may have already done its damage, whether its the demand for biofuel making people hungry or half-baked notions like carbon taxes. All the while, the enviro-cultists keep avoiding the real issue: They hate capitalism. Capitalism empowers individuals, it loosens government control as those individuals start to have a say in politics (in democratic countries, at least) and the innovation that is possible in the private sector often provides more real solutions than government bureaucrats ever will. Of course, if your leader happens to be a hypocrite with a house that uses more electricity than an entire town might, this tends to get ignored. Remember, the mantra of the Left is do as they say-not as they do.

Well I hope he doesn’t lose his job over this. It’s just been shoved down everyone’s throat, and if you question it, you hate kids, love wars, and think BIG oil should rule the world.

I swear, as an individual a human is by far the most intellegent creature in the world, and possibly the universe, but as a group, we are as dumb as fucking rocks.

This hysterical shift to alternative energies is the right answer, but the time is not right now.

There’s a rule in Silicon Valley - you need both the right product and the right TIME. Launching a Vista-only product the exact day Vista launches is stupid. Nobody has Vista. You should have created an XP version if you wanted to launch that day, or targetted the Vista version a few months later when people actually had it.

Notice how nanosolar.com has great promise. They print solar panels using things that work like humongous laser printers. BUT.. with their new investment from solar-drunk Germany, they are SOLD OUT for a YEAR while they build more factories. Their technology is held close to the vest. Is this vaporware? Who fucking knows.

The whole alternative energy industry works like that.

Humans emit carbon dioxide. You emit more if you are a big man - if you eat lots of Whoppers. Why can’t I sell a carbon offset to Al Gore, the promise that I will eat less for a month so his jet plane can emit more C02?

I have more time for Sammy Wilson than the average DUP man. He’s a little bit God-Squad, but that goes with the territory.
