Right Thinking From The Left Coast
"To what purpose are powers limited, and to what purpose is that limitation committed to writing,
if these limits may, at any time, be passed by those intended to be restrained?"
-- Chief Justice John Marshall, Marbury v. Madison, 1803

Run to the Hills

San Francisco, it’s not their kinda town any more.

The San Francisco Bay area has long been the must-go destination for folks of every stripe. But now it is losing people.

Led by the county of San Francisco, which lost 10,300 people from July 2002 to July 2003, the Bay Area’s nine counties took a net loss of 600 residents for that same period, according to a report the Census Bureau issued today (April 8).

By contrast, the greater Los Angeles area is absorbing nearly 300,000 more people each year. Riverside County grew the fastest within that region last year, adding 87,000 people in one year.

It’s quite simple.  San Francisco has a monumental housing shortage brought on by rent control, requiring people to live hours away from where they work.  There are taxes and fees on just about everything, which drives businesses into neighboring areas.  And the city itself is becoming a filthy, dirty, disgusting cess pool with bums begging for money on virtually every street corner.  It’s kind of hard to ignore being accosted daily by filthy bums and drug addicts begging for money.

In short, the declining population of San Francisco is the culmination of years of left-wing policies.  (And, to my credit, I resisted the urge to crack a joke about gays not being able to reproduce.)
