Maybe they just decided to give the images to the Chinese before they bothered to steal them because it would be less embarassing for us, I don’t know.

Anyway, given that our satellite imagery was publicly displayed in the run-up to the Iraq War, I’d say that it’s pretty well known already what we can do.

I seriously doubt China is not aware of our satellite capabilities, its a humanitarian gesture and you would expect from America.

As rich mentions, I’m sure the capabilities of our spy satellites are already known by China.  I wouldn’t worry about it.

You mean, the really watered down stuff from those same spy satellites?

Yeah. There’s been debate about how watered down it is, though. Google has pulled various stuff down at the DoD’s request, because it gave too much detail of military facilities, for example.

Granted, the DoD could have been more thorough, but even 20 years ago they had better resolution available than what you get from Google Earth…

oh China is VERY aware of our capability’s, that was recently demo stated in their attempts to cover up construction of submarine pens on Hannian island.
and im sure the NSA wont be giving them high quality images, 1/4 meter res in not nessecary for this.
