No Booze Either

In other Obama news, he’s nominated someone of the head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It’s the booze-grabbing CEO of MADD.  I hate to quote the same blogger twice in two posts, but Balko’s is a must-read.  Hurley’s agenda includes mandatory breathalyzer interlocks on cars, lowering the BAC rate to .04 (i.e, a single drink), more roadblocks, more photo radar and red light cameras—all of which have proven, at best, ineffective in making the roads safe and sometimes even counterproductive.  Under Hurley, MADD has given vociferous support for tossing parents in jail if they allow their kids to have supervised parties.  MADD would apparently prefer that the kids drink themselves stupid in a field somewhere and then drive home.  I guess they’ll learn a valuable lesson in prison or the grave.

Hurley is everything wrong with the Nanny State.  He believes the government should have unlimited power in banning something he hates.  He recognizes no Constitutional boundaries, no limits on power, no freedom for the individual.  His organization shamelessly exploits any tragedy it can to advance their agenda.  He has no problem with busting up families and tossing harmless people in prison.  He willfully distorts science to supports his cause (remember when only Republicans did that?)

In short, he’s perfect for this Administration.

With the exception of torture, can anyone tell me some reason Barack Obama is a better President than George W. Bush?

Oh, you mean, like we did it when I was a kid....

No. There’s nothing - NOTHING - about him that is better on any level.  He’s NOT a good extemporaneous speaker. He’s a good at emoting off of a script.  He’s not any more aware of how what he does makes the country look. He’s as clueless and bumbling as Bush ever was.  He’s a terrible decider, a worse manager and a shitty human being all the way around.

He’s just another member of the ruling elite. All hat, no cattle.  “Oh but at least he’s smart!” Really?  What kind of smart?  Not the kind it takes to staff your administration with anything but crooks and liars.  Not the kind it takes to realize how utterly stupid and disgraceful it is to LITERALLY pal around with dictators and treat them like long-lost brothers for the cameras. Not smart enough to understand basic economics.  Not smart enough to lie convincingly.

There’s nothing good about this man. The torture issue is in NO way important enough to make up for the shortcomings he has on virtually *everything* else.

drunk driving was nearly a required class at my highschool.
I one could not go out and get bombed and then drive 30 miles home on the back roads, there was something wrong with you.

I’m currently working on the communications strategy for the UK’s Safe Driving strategy for the next 10 years.....if he gets half as much shit as we’re getting, he’ll be drowning in the brown stuff.
