Right Thinking From The Left Coast
"To what purpose are powers limited, and to what purpose is that limitation committed to writing,
if these limits may, at any time, be passed by those intended to be restrained?"
-- Chief Justice John Marshall, Marbury v. Madison, 1803

Middle Finger to the (Gun)Law
by

WASHINGTON - Three decades ago, at the dawn of municipal self-government in the District of Columbia, the city’s first elected mayor and council enacted one of the country’s toughest gun-control measures, a ban on handgun ownership that opponents have long said violates the Second Amendment.

All these years later, with the constitutionality of the ban now probably headed for a US Supreme Court review, a much-debated practical question remains unsettled: Has a law aimed at reducing the number of handguns in the District made city streets safer?

Although studies through the decades have reached conflicting conclusions, this much is clear: The ban, passed with strong public support in 1976, has not accomplished everything the mayor and council of that era wanted it to.

Over the years, gun violence has continued to plague the city, reaching staggering levels at times.

It’s as old as I am, and a COMPLETE failure. At least for the duration of my life, I have found a way to contribute. Opponents to the reversal of this prohibition say that the crime levels would’ve been ‘worse’ without the measure. I beg to differ. There isn’t any evidence to support that theory, and I really hope they can overturn this law.

I have feared for my life only a few times, and one of those times was in downtown D.C. in Adam’s Morgan. I regularly heard shots, and my faimily friend had a house that was a converted crack house. People would get out of jail, and knock on his door all the time. Oddly enough, he lived a block away from one of Uncle Je$$e’s cribz.

What is it going to take before the COWS of our society have the ability to put 2 and 2 together?

Look people - I’ll break it down real simple-like:

Laws are followed by law-abiding citizens
Laws are ignored by criminals

At what point did we conclude that passing a LAW would have ANY affect on the behavior of the criminals it’s directed at?

Gun control laws do ONE thing, and ONE thing only - they provide criminals with a government-backed guarantee that law-abiding citizens will go through their day defenseless.  Period.

Think about that a minute, COWS are some of the dumbest creatures on earth, which is why they should be eaten in the first place. Same with the cows of our society, they are so dumb that they need to be kulled out of our society.
