Right Thinking From The Left Coast
"To what purpose are powers limited, and to what purpose is that limitation committed to writing,
if these limits may, at any time, be passed by those intended to be restrained?"

Live From Hollywood
by Lee

Well, we had a great day at Universal Studios today.  Got up there around 11:30, grabbed some sushi for lunch at Wasabi, and then headed in for a day of movie fun.  Here’s a picture of Clayton at the fountain when you first walk in the door.

The Mummy ride was really cool.  I’ve been to Universal a number of times, but I’d never been on that ride.  Clayton had never been there before at all, so we ended up going on it a couple of times.

Tomorrow:  Disneyland!

Tomorrow:  Disneyland!

And then....THE WORLD!

You’re supposed to win the Superbowl first!

You’re going to be toe-up before this is over!

This kid is lucky to be hanging with you. I mean that in a sincere way. You’re showing him a great time. What a great vacation for him.

Lee, just so long as you don’t take him to Mexico and get him kidnapped…

Posted by Tj on 06/18/05 at 02:49 AM from United States

Matthew, the was kids are today, Lee would be the one getting kidnapped.  The kid would get the randsom.  ;)

With the way American kids are now days, just hand the kid a semi-automatic weapon and Lee would have little to worry about.

LEE, you are doing a VERY MANLY thing.
Taking time to show this young man around and have fun with him, shows the depth of your heart and strewth of your soul.

Many Men would not have the fortitude to do this.

Have fun!IF you take him to Mexico, take him to a pony show..LOL maybe not but make sure the hooker is clean first.....

Posted by HARLEY on 06/18/05 at 06:25 AM from United States

If you want to teach him some responsibility and have fun, take him to a gun range that lets you rent their guns to shoot.......

lol Harley. True.

Granted, I have to wonder who’s having more fun between the two of them… I can’t imagine Lee doesn’t like going to amusement parks for a few days in a row. Hell, the way he was working for the past several months, he earned it.

BTW Lee, maybe you should also consider Sea World, if there’s time that is.

Posted by HARLEY on 06/18/05 at 08:43 AM from United States

SEA WORLD!!>> hell a redneck like me would show up with a pole bait and a fillet knife…

OT - interesting piece on the flag in the Denver Post

Gosh Stogy, thankyou for repeating what’s been said on about 100 American Right-Wing and Conservative blogs.

the 17th Amendment does not appear to have anything to do with it, and it seems nothing can stop them from doing so at will.

Well, hey, that’s fine: You symbolically desecrate my ideals, I symbolically kick your ass. We’re all happy.

It really is a great thing you are doing for this kid Lee. Growing up my Dad skipped out on us when I was 10. My stepdad is a good man but is so emotionally guarded we never bonded and he never taught my brother and I anything. Consequently everything I learned about becoming a man came late and often from the wrong people.

Clayton is probably looking up to you a hell of alot more than you may realize Lee. Keep being that positive manly role model, it will go a long towards making him grow into a responsible, stable young adult.

Darn, I guess it didn’t copy earlier: I meant to cite this piece...

It seems that too many Americans have forgotten that the U.S. flag is merely a symbol of our ideals - it is not the actual embodiment of them.

It will go a long WAY towards making him a responsible, stable young adult.

Cripes, I even previewed!

Amen. Kid’s getting the teenage version of being taken out for a scotch, a cigar and a cabaret girl, and that’s just what he needs.

Well it ran on commodreams, too, so I guess that would make it a bipartisan consensus?

What point do you seek to emphasize, stogy? That people have the right to burn flags? Or that others might grow upset at that act of desecration? It is not the act itself, it is the intent behind that act, that causes the offense.

I would be happy to help anyone who cares to burn a flag, but I might get a little sloppy while I’m splashing the gasoline all over. (A few people might get splashed, giving them cause to rethink their intentions.)

What would you say to a few cross burnings? Or maybe a pile of Korans? (Given your personal proclivities, perhaps the “Communist Manifesto” might be more indicative.)

Why is burning the flag “protected speech” while burning crosses is not?

Hey, I was only saying that I thought it made interesting reading. You can print it out and burn it if it pleases you.

Exactly.

Islamic leaders swear up and down that Islam forbids idolatry. Yet look at the reaction to the Koran “desecration scandal”. Compare and contrast!
