Finding Ammo
by Lee

It’s a good thing that this happened in the gun-free utopia of Australia.

RED-faced police have lost 1,000 rounds of pistol ammunition, which fell from the back of an unmarked station wagon.

Two boxes of ammunition were being transported by police when the rear tailgate opened unexpectedly and the cargo fell out, due to a faulty locking mechanism, a Victoria Police spokesman said.

The incident occurred on Friday morning at a roundabout in Melbourne’s south-east and police, along with a number of motorists, stopped to retrieve the ammunition.

One box had split open, spilling rounds onto the road, but the second box has not been found.

The spokesman said the rounds were contained in a cardboard box marked “ammunition”.

Since nobody in Australia has a gun I wonder what the police think the public could do with this ammunition?
