"To what purpose are powers limited, and to what purpose is that limitation committed to writing,
if these limits may, at any time, be passed by those intended to be restrained?"
-- Chief Justice John Marshall, Marbury v. Madison, 1803
Today’s gun control success story comes from Australia.
A 76-year-old man will face trial for attempting to murder a Brisbane couple in a revenge attack for being cheated out of a lottery win more than 16 years ago.
Milan Laus is accused of throwing two Molotov cocktails and trying to fire rounds from an SKS military assault rifle at the couple’s inner suburban Red Hill home where he once lived with a man he claimed cheated him out of $2.5 million.
The Slovenian immigrant opened fire on Andrew and Sonya Clay after the couple awoke to the sound of dogs barking outside their two-story home at 5.15am on August 18 last year.
Brisbane’s Magistrates Court heard today police allege Laus – who lived in a nearby unit – tried to shoot Mr Clay who confronted the gun-wielding intruder from the verandah of the house.
It’s a good thing that Australia has such draconian gun control laws. They really help prevent these types of murders, which as every good leftist knows only happen in fascist violence-obsessed Amerika. And I expect now for there to be a call for new laws to ban bottles, gasoline, and oily rags so that nobody can ever again use a molotov cocktail in an aggressive manner. (Think that’s a joke? Australia tried to get crossbows banned after there was a crossbow shooting.) I bet the killer went to the crime scene happy with the knowledge that the laws in Australia made it impossible for his victim to defend himself.
Gun control saves lives.... the lives of the guilty.
