Right Thinking From The Left Coast
"To what purpose are powers limited, and to what purpose is that limitation committed to writing,
if these limits may, at any time, be passed by those intended to be restrained?"
-- Chief Justice John Marshall, Marbury v. Madison, 1803

Call Me

Liz Mair wonders what’s up with those odd anti-Mormon calls apparently directed at the Romney campaign.

So here’s the picture, as it stands. Firm with links to Romney performs a series of mean, nasty, Mormon-bashing, religiously-bigoted calls in key primary states. Uses script that makes it look like McCain could be involved. Firm also has links to Giuliani team. Calls do nothing to drum up support for McCain, and in fact make him look really, really bad. Also raise suspicion about Giuliani. Meanwhile, calls generate sympathy for Romney.

This sure doesn’t prove Romney or his team or his supporters were behind the calls, but it does raise some serious questions about what’s going on here. I can’t wait for the NH AG to get to investigating so we can get an answer here.

Updates are provided at her site. I’d like to know what’s going on here, too. Is Romney smearing himself?

Hmmm, religious bigotry?  Dirty campaign tricks using automated systems?  Conspiracy theories?

Sorry, guys; this one has “Ron Paul Supporters” written all over it.
