Right Thinking From The Left Coast
"To what purpose are powers limited, and to what purpose is that limitation committed to writing,
if these limits may, at any time, be passed by those intended to be restrained?"
-- Chief Justice John Marshall, Marbury v. Madison, 1803

Borrowed Time
by Lee

When you ban guns, people who want them for criminal purposes or other reasons will always find a way to get ahold of one.  Like this guy.

A man shot and killed himself outside a San Carlos gun store Tuesday after having posed as a customer and then stealing a weapon, police said.

Timothy Singler, 41, of Redwood City apparently brought ammunition for the weapon with him when he entered Imbert & Smithers Inc. at 1144 El Camino Real at 10:40 a.m., police said.

Singler asked to see a handgun, then ran outside with the weapon and shot himself, police said.

Why, it’s almost like determined people who want a firearm will break any law to get one.  Funny how that works, isn’t it?

Everyone knows that if people didn’t have guns, they would be nicer and nobody would ever want to break laws or kill themselves, Lee. C’mon! </sarcasm>

Well, just for the comedy gold of it ,I would have preferred to see him axe himself, but maybe it’s just me......

but ... but ... but ... if guns were banned, the gunstore wouldn’t have been there, and this guy couldn’t have posed as a customer to get his hands on a gun.  BAN ALL GUNS NOW!!!!

Of course, if you really want to nitpick, it wasn’t the gun that killed him, it was the ammunition.  Maybe we should give guns away and outlaw ammunition?

That would be a violation of Rule 10: Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

This is the law:

* The purpose of fighting is to win.
* There is no possible victory in defense.
* The sword is more important than the shield and skill is more important than either.
* The final weapon is the brain.
* All else is supplemental.

The sword is more important than the shield and skill is more important than either.

Not if you are part of a Spartan phalanx. Without your spear you may survive, without your shield you are utterly fucked :)

Not necessarily true. If all you have is a shield, with no way to fight back, sooner or later the other guy is gonna get lucky, and he knows he has nothing to fear from you.

If all you have is the spear, you can get lucky, kill the other guy, and take his shield. (He won’t be needing it anymore.)

I’m thinking a .45 and a type IIIA vest.

If I only get to choose one, I’m taking the gun everytime.
