I don’t see how it can be as good as the trailer.  But I’m cautiously optimistic that it won’t suck.

Everything I’ve heard about it could be summed up with this Futurama bit:

“I have combined the DNA of all the most evil animals in the world, to create the most evil animal of them all!”
“Turns out it’s man.”

Blam, there, I’ve seen it, I’m done.

As I’ve said before, at some point, WHY BOTHER with live action sequences?  According to IMDB:

The movie is 40% live action and 60% photo-realistic CGI.

WHY BOTHER with the 40% unless you’re going for some sort of Roger Rabbit/Cool World feel.

From what i get of the story line, its is Dances with Wolves in space, written with the BAD HUMAN/military complex hammer.

I caught the #-D Imax preview on Friday. It looks pretty cool. The 3D reminds me of watching a ViewMaster in motion. It gets blurry at times, but the overall, the sequences they showed were more dynamic than the standard film. And you have to wear these dorky polarized glasses. What was really cool was the sound design and the sound system in the theater. Wow! Very impactful.

All in all, I’d say it’s a hackneyed story with the gimmick of 3D. Should make a ton of dough though.

HARLEY: Did you read the comments from the guys at Hijinks Ensue too?  :)

Having read that after they saw the sneak preview.. sounds like the ads are doing the movie a disservice.
