Chinese Chicken
by Lee

In China they call KFC “Kun Duh Chee.” And, apparently, they can’t get enough of that Colonel’s Chicken.

China’s relentless appetite for the colonel’s chicken has KFC on a building boom in the world’s most populous country, with 1,200 locations, soaring profits and a menu that mixes in bamboo shoots and lotus roots.

At a time when its sales in the United States are struggling, KFC is dominating even rival McDonald’s in China and turning the goateed visage of Kentucky Fried Chicken founder Colonel Harland Sanders into a ubiquitous symbol of America.

“We are really positioned as a part of the fabric of life in China,” said David Novak, chairman and chief executive of Louisville-based Yum Brands Inc., parent company of KFC.

It is my contention that most rabid lefties have very little actual international experience.  Because if they did, they would realize that much of the rest of the world loves American culture, especially our junk food.  While KFC is dcerided in this country it is viewed as a sign of prosperity and modernity in many parts of the globe.  The same goes for McDonald’s and Starbucks and just about every other eeeeeeeevil fascist Amerikkkan kapitalist entity you can think of.

I stood at the tomb of Mao Zedong at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, and within line of site of the front door you could see a KFC and a Golden Arches.  It warmed my capitalist heart.

Update: If you want an example of just how ubiquitous US corporations are, take a look at how they are ripped off by local companies hoping to immitate them.
