Chance favors the prepared mind - Louis Pasteur
Thursday, March 11, 2010Campaign promises, fiscal responsibility, debt, ethical scandals, and hope and change
by AlexinCT
Democrats ran and won in 2006, and then again in 2008, on the bad behavior of republicans. Republicans were successfully and correctly painted as having lost their fiscal sanity for the deficit spending prior to 2006, only to have democrats gain control of congress and the spending purse after the 2006 elections, and set new spending records they then blamed Bush for. The leftwing machine’s manipulations of the facts, with big-time help from a complicit media that didn’t point out democrats were always worse at that stuff anyway when in charge, allowed them to run on the lack of fiscal responsibility of the republicans in 2008 again, using the crisis of their own making that they then blamed on Bush yet again, to win big, only to then proceed to set new deficit spending records. Here is the graph for those of you that want to dispute the deficit spending facts, so spare us the bull:
As this projection showed Obama’s deficit spending in his first year ended up being more than all 8 years of Bush. Oh sure, as I already pointed out Obama is blaming Bush for having to do so. Democrats have successfully convinced so many that the financial crisis we are in isn’t tied to those idiotic collectivist economic lending practices they forced upon the market in the last 3 decades. Even worse, they successfully have covered up the rigged games Franks and Dodd set up with Fannie and Freddie to keep those faulty economic policies afloat, and how those trading scams then led to the implosion of the housing market and then the financial sector. But that “It’s Bush’s fault” excuse is wearing thin as people are slowly seeing the truth. Almost $2 trillion of the tax payer’s dollars has been funneled to democrats and their friends, through one collectivist economic scam or another promising salvation, but delivering nothing but a drastically growing government bureaucracy, while the private sector continues to bleed jobs and contract. And the WH remains focused on tacking on trillions more in new taxes and debt so they can give government control of healthcare moneys and decisions, with a scam which purports to reign in costs and be fiscally responsible by of all things taxing us for 10 years to provide 5 or 6 years of coverage, while ignoring the economic disaster they are leaving in their wake. And the one thing they should be addressing, the lack of jobs, gets nothing but some meaningless political play. In the mean time the hole is growing deeper and the spending of money we simply don’t have continues to rise. This year is looking like it will set even higher and wasteful deficit spending records as this February’s $220.9 billion single month record is showing. This seems to be our economic future thanks to the democrats and their economics. But the fact that democrats are destroying our economy, and are trying hard to destroy healthcare, is not the thing I want to address here. I want to talk a bit about one of the other lies they told to get themselves elected. If you have been following the whole Eric Massa fiasco, you know this stuff has turned into a soap opera writ large. Frankly I do not know if Massa is telling the truth. He is a democrat after all, and lying is second nature for them. However, I do not put it past this WH to do what Massa has accused them of doing either. Based on what I have seen them do in just this first year, I have no doubt that this bunch is probably the most corrupt crew I have ever seen. We are dealing with Chicago politics here, and this – hope & change! - is SOP for these people. My bet is that since Obama wants this monster passed, his team is going to make it happen. Even if they have to do what Massa has accused them of. In fact I do not put it past them to resort to openly committing felonies to do so considering the vested interest they have in making this the law of the lad. After all, they control the levers of power and the press, so whose gonna be able to do anything about anything bad they do? If the stuff that has been going on so far hasn’t made the case yet, I doubt anything they do will. And that brings me to my point about this whole Massa thing. If you don’t remember Nancy promising to drain the republican swamp and end the culture of corruption back in 2006, here is just one of the instances the sympathetic press gave her words play. Unfortunately, as case after case proves – Chris Dodd, Barney Franks, Charley Rangel, and a plethora of others – Nancy lied, and the corruption and criminal behavior, like the deficit spending and the fiscal irresponsibility I talked about before, is also setting new records. Don’t take my word for it. The case with Massa is more of the same. Even more important is the fact that while Pelosi is now claiming ignorance that’s a blatant lie because Nancy knew months ago about Massa’s behavior. And while Nancy is playing dumb, just a little research would have made it all obvious from records going back to Massa’s NAVY days showing that Massa was a time bomb waiting to explode.
As is the case in all these other stories of corruption that the MSM is ignoring or down playing, we are being lied to by these democrats that want to pretend real criminal activity and serious ethics violations, stuff that makes what happens when the republicans were in charge look tame, isn’t their modus operandi. And keep in mind that it is this scandal driven congress which is ignoring the will of the people and pushing forward with an unpopular government takeover of healthcare. Why isn’t the MSM up in arms about all this corruption and the will of the people being ignored? I guess that’s more of that hope and change for you.

Wednesday, March 10, 2010ACORN on the record..
by AlexinCT
As the left actively but falsely tries to discredit O’Keefe’s work in exposing ACORN’s criminal activities, of all things by attacking his choice of clothing or by creating the false illusion that his video editing distorted the facts, it bears to point out that ACORN has a long history of other criminal activity. Oh sure, the left will say that it’s always about voter registration and unimportant because nobody can “definitely prove” there was any actual voter fraud, or some such, but the latest case says otherwise:
That emphasis is mine. We are dealing with accusations of voter fraud here, not voter registration fraud. I use “accusations”, because obviously there never was a real investigation despite the obvious. We all know better though. This is SOP from ACORN. It’s what they exist for. And it is clear that there was a delay, on purpose, to make sure any investigation in this case didn’t pan out. You have to wonder how many of these other instances are out there. Oh yeah, for you clever lefties that will immediately point out that the Milwaukee Journal article never mentions ACORN, that’s likely on purpose. However, you can have a look at this AG indictment which clearly shows that 2 of those co-conspirators being looked at in this case were ACORN employees.
If you want the reference for that, it is here. Clearly ACORN employees helped commit voter fraud. Sadly, the Milwaukee police dept dropped the ball, and the usual suspects are doing their best to not point out that connection. But we can continue to pretend the crook is the guy that dressed up as a pimp or not and got ACORN employees giving him advice on how to pimp children and/or foreigners that also might be under age, hide the income to avoid taxes, and then run for office as a democrat.

Friday, February 26, 2010Things to ponder about our impending government healthcare takeover
by AlexinCT
I did not watch that 7+ hour freakshow that the democrats were hoping to use as a vehicle to paint the republicans as evil “no sayers” with no ideas or plans on healthcare with the help of the usual suspects in their controlled MSM – while anyone that had the ability to navigate a web browser and Google could see these donkeys were full of it – and I am glad I didn’t waste my time. The democrats pretended to care and to want bipartisanship, only they meant by bipartisanship that the republicans should do what they wanted and be happy about it. The leftist twits are now threatening reconciliation – a process that has never been used in the way they intend to abuse it, but we are talking about the party of the end justifies the means after all here – despite the public objection to this debacle. It is now or never and all or nothing with these fools. And they are continuing to pretend that they are doing it to help the country and the people economically, while also providing care to all those poor people that can’t afford it. How noble, but al bullshit. The end game still is to have government literally take over and control 1/5th of our economy. Not to mention get the power over life and death decisions. Fun stuff, but I want to talk about the cost to us tax payers.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010The gravy train is gonna cost us more than they told us..
by AlexinCT
In the age of “Hope and Change” deficits no longer matter it seems. This even as a Tax Policy Center released a
For those that are numerically challenged, this means that the difference between all the goodies that the collectivists want to farm out reported in this analysis and the tax intake of Uncle Sam in this business hostile environment are going to leave us with an unbelievable additional $4.9 trillion in new debt. Of course, knowing the way collectivists operate, they will simply raise taxes - and likely also spending - and then be flabbergasted when we end up with something close to a $7 trillion gap.

ACORN news
by AlexinCT
There is some good news out there - other than the AGW climategate scandal finally ending the death grip the AGW cultists had on the issue, and finally allowing real science to take a look at this issue which will sooner than later kill the AGW cult - and that is that the donkey crime syndicate ACORN is going through tough times and giving up on its national structure. Now, I am not stupid enough to think this is end of these bastards, and would not be surprised that all this leads to is a rebirth under a different name with the exact same agenda and criminal behavior to push that agenda to follow, but in the short term it means a victory for the people that actually do have a problem with this kind of special interest group, masquerading as a community organization intended to help people, pushing a destructive agenda that favors the politicians that enact that agenda. If they are going to just lay low and come back again to do more of the same, there is an election this year after all, I recommend they use the name “Donkey Mafia”. Feel free to suggest your own names as well in the comments.

Monday, February 22, 2010Doubling down…
by AlexinCT
Well, as I suspected, the Obama Administration’s plan to revive the bloated and vile government takeover of healthcare money and decision making, isn’t about fixing the differences and actually fixing healthcare at all, because the WH strategy is to double down on the same crap. If you needed more proof that these leftist elitists think we are all morons and not smart enough to make our own choices, look at this. After the Scott Brown loss in MA, and the obvious looming disasters at the polls in the elections this coming November, you would figure that the collectivist would figure out they over played their hand and that the people didn’t want any more of the destructive stuff they have given us for the last year. You would expect them to work on getting the economy going and getting people employed. Instead they are using smoke and mirrors and hoping their partners in the MSM can make the republicans out like the bad guys without any ideas of their own. Talk about projection, huh? To me it is not clear that the democrat agenda is to pass this behemoth in order to so drastically shift the balance of those that work for a living vs. those that vote for a living in their favor that they are willing to take the hit for another decade or two, if it then buys them perpetual power. Of course, at this rate, there will not be much of a country in even a decade worth ruling, but then again, marxists think they can make it better when they never, ever, have done anything but the opposite. Don’t let the freak show that is going to come out of DC distract you. These collectivists are dangerous.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010Miss me yet???
by AlexinCT
Just after one year of “Hope and Change” it looks like people are wising up that they got sold the same bill of loser collectivist goods of the Carter years, and pining for those bad days they told us we had when republicans were in charge. As reality clashes with fantasy and things like this, this, this, this, this, this, and this keep happening, the democrats continue to pretend that what people want is bigger government, a complete takeover of healthcare - 1/5th of the economy - by that big government, and a massive migration from jobs in the private sector to a fraction of the number of jobs lost there in the public sector. And that doesn’t tackle the complete collapse of the AGW scam which wanted to expand the government take over globally and other such stupid ideas. At least Clinton was smart enough to be saved by a republican takeover of congress in 2004. I doubt Obama, a true believer, will be able to make the same connections. After all, he was told he was the messiah and could walk on water. As I said before, a few years of the democrats in power would be enough to make many see the light. I just didn’t think it could take but one year for that to happen. I could not believe that the democrats were really this inept and stupid, but they are hard at work proving me both right and wrong. Democrats are good at manipulating the news, with help of the complicit MSM, to attack their opponents when they are in power. Unfortunately now that they are in power, even with massive help covering up for them by the MSM, they can’t hide how inept they are. Reality has a way of destroying most collectivist fantasies, and what is happening isn’t anything new. The fun thing is that I get to bring out my latest find, a poster on some highway in the Mid West that tells the story better than anything else:
Give it time. The numbers are getting bigger and bigger, and all but the most hard core leftists are agreeing that for all his faults, and he had them believe me, Bush was heads and shoulders a better president than the current community organizer in chief….

Tuesday, February 09, 2010Not surprised that….
by AlexinCT
Investigations into a left leaning “grassroots” organization that was put together to counter the tea party phenomenon sweaping the nation turns out to bepart of a complex network of money flowing from the mountainous coffers of the country’s biggest labor unions and trickling slowly into political slush funds for Democratic activists. Hah!
Gee! Another left leaning “grassroots” movement turns out to be anything but, is associated with communists, crime syndicates, or in this case unions (more of the same), and is loading democrat campaign coffers. Bet you won’t hear or see this in the MSM. Every time I hear a democrat accuse the other side of some bad, criminal, or creppy behavior, I instinctively feel they do so because they are enaged in it themselves. And the proof keeps on coming out that they are. Hope and Change indeed…

Tuesday, February 02, 2010Just to clear up some of the useless lefty talking points..
by AlexinCT
The CATO institute has this very intersting post about the direction of 5 decades of federal spending. Of particular interest was this graph below.Look at that spike in 2009. Look at it hard. Then compare it to anything you see during the eight years before that.
The most intersting part is that the leftists want to pretend we are in our current fniancial predicament because of defense spending - which clearly keeps dropping - while non-defense spending, that’s code for most of the collectivist pap, has grown bigtime. With this kind of crazy spending, it’s no wonder that another campaign promise has gone out the window. Hope and change indeed.

Wednesday, January 27, 2010Is the MSM spinning for the demcorats about what O’Keefe was up to?
by AlexinCT
WaPo has a story claiming that James O’ Keefe - the guy that exposed ACORN’s support for criminal activities despite the MSM’s attempts to pretend there was no story there - was charged in an alleged plot to bug Senator Mary Landrieu’s office. First off, this story is written by Carol D. Leonnig which already once had to apologize and offer a correction for slandering O’Keefe in this joke of a piece where she accused him of going after ACORN because he was a racist, so I immediately smelled a rat.
The piece opens with O’Keefe’s undercover activities, likely on purpose because these tools hope to use this article and this incident to discredit him, and then infers some kind of criminal intent. The details are sketchy, but the accusations being made are that O’Keefe was trying to bug the office, and as proof they discuss, in some way tangential way, that there were some listening devices and a request for the phone closet involved. Let me make a prediction: I sense another correction by the WaPo to deal with the spin of this reporter. I find it ironic that she is the one writing on O’Keefe in the first place, considering she already demonstrated her lack of journalistic credibility before, but this is the MSM we are discussing here. Anyway, this is going to blow up in the face of the leftist twits that are all wringing their hands and all over this story. Wish they had been that diligent in pursuing the whole ACORN crime syndicate story when O’Keefe started exposing ACORN, and had done some journalistic work of their own on the story after, but again, we are talking about the MSM here, as they are about this non-story. I guess this is more of that get ahead of the story and shape it junk we can expect from the left when they want to cut off someone that is coming after them. This to me is looking like they are trying to use the power of the federal government and the MSM to slander someone that hurt them. Remember that this is Louisiana we are talking about, ACORN’s ground zero, and that they lost a ton of cash because of O’Keefe’s doings. And why would I say this? Well here is what I think O’Keefe was up to. For weeks now the story has been that people calling Landrieu to complain about the $300 billion tax payer pay-off to buy here healthcare vote in favor of the government takeover plan have encountered busy signals. There are a lot of angry constituents and they are not getting through to her to tell her so. It would not be far fetched to guess that O’Keefe, like I definitely do (we are talking about democrats here and these people make Tony Soprano look like a saint), figured out Landrieu and her people had tampered or outright disabled their phones so they would not need to be bothered by the peasants, and that they thus had another sting to show that. They then concocted a plan to go in, film themselves calling the phone number and the unused phone(s) not ringing, and then try to take a peek at the phone closet where the phones were disabled. From what I read in the affidavit discussed here, it looks like that’s exactly what they were doing. The fact that they had O’Keefe filming the whole thing is telling. Now these morons might be trying to use the threat of wire-tapping charges as a means to bludgeon O’Keefe and those with him into silence, but I am betting it backfires. From where I stand it looks like O’Keefe caught the Landrieu offices with their phones turned off, and the Louisiana democrat political machine is desperately trying to save face, and going all out to do so. It won’t work. They can’t let this go to trail – even one of those rigged trials Holder promised for the terrorists – because then they risk having the truth come out. My bet is O’Keefe knows it too. And he is busy getting his next master piece put together. Video soon to come. Watch the MSM drop this story like a hot potato when the facts come out. Watch the democrats end up with another black eye. Watch Landrieu, whom is going to be in trouble come the next election, scramble to save face, and make it worse. At least O’Keefe and his stories are getting coverage, unlike the whole ACORN thing should have.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010Answer Me These Questions Five
by Hal_10000
The Democrats are trying to portray Republicans as a bunch of lunatics with a series of questions they want to ask Republican candidates. Personally, I think they would make more progress portraying the Republicans as morons, but whatever. The full questionnaire follows the break, with my answers. What’s interesting is just how bad a strategy this is. It’s simply a rehashing of every Democrat shriek of the last ten years. It honestly reads like someone pulled a list of “what Republicans really think” out of Democratic Underground or somesuch. The NRSC has responded with their own list of questions that are equally stupid, but are more cutting because they tie Democrats to policies that actually exist.

Monday, January 25, 2010An Election Preview (Hopefully)
by
Setting a tone for this November? Hopefully. "Oh crap, he’s back,” more than one someone just thought. Yeah, it’s been awhile. I got sick of politics and sick of arguing, really. (Well, as sick as a born and bred Texan can get.) It wasn’t that people disagreed, so much as I got tired of how politics induces almost anything into being a disagreement. That anything’s a good reason to square off with someone. I told myself that I just wasn’t going to get back into it until I stopped thinking “Oh what’s the damn point?” every time I ventured a political opinion. (And that wasn’t just here, it was everywhere. I swore completely off politics for quite awhile.) Plus, hey, like the man said, if one person tells you something it might not mean anything, when a bunch of people tell you, maybe it’s time to consider it. I wanted to step back, tone it down, and not be so confrontational all the time. I finally decided I should try posting something again, though, if for nothing else than that the front page sometimes looks like Alex and Hal lobbing wads of paper back and forth at each other’s desks with miniature siege engines made out of rubber bands and post-its, and boy are they screwed because I have got this MASSIVE paper football that is like eighty percent scotch tape… I kid, I kid. Anyway, I think we can all agree we’ve had a preview of the upcoming elections in the whole Brown/Coakley issue. Coakley went all-out, accusing Brown of wanting to kick sobbing raped women out of hospitals, while Keith Olbermann went so insane attacking Brown that even The Daily Show called him on it. Brown, meanwhile, kept his cool and answered the bait with all the right lines… no one’s responded that well to an attempted verbal ambush since a little French chick said “If I am in God’s graces, I pray He keep me there, and if I am not in God’s graces, I pray He put me there.” (No, I am not saying that Brown has taken levels in Paladin, I’m praising his ability to think on his feet.) The Democrats went nuts, the Republicans focused, and the Republicans ultimately won. Meanwhile, here in Texas we’re steadily ramping up for our election for Governor. And so far, most of it is between Kay Bailey Hutchison and Rick Perry. Now, why I’m mentioning it is that Hutchison voted for Porkulus and it’s hardly her first venture into pork, earmarks, and other wasteful spending. Voting for the stimulus alone has her heading out of RINO territory and towards “Democrat who somehow screwed up their party registration”. Sure, she talks a good game about small government items such as term limits and proper resignation procedures, but she’s also broken every single promise she’s made, and she’s going after a guy under whose stewardship Texas has remained one of the strongest economies in the country. So I figure she’s a fair fit for the “Democrat” in this Republican primary process. She’s basically been using scare tactics. Every ad against Perry she runs is filled with terms that are about as fearmongering as they can get, and show that Hutchison has a pretty low opinion of her constituents. (Did you know that Rick Perry let FOREIGNERS have something to do with our road system?!) Meanwhile, Perry’s ads against her have been hitting her with the thing every Democrat (or Democrat equivalent, in this case) fears the most… her promises and her record. They’re very simple ads, showing Hutchison voting for the Stimulus during the term in the Senate she previously promised not to seek. It’s damning in and of itself, without any need for reactionary hyperbole. I think… and desperately hope… that this is what the coming elections are going to look like. Democrats flipping out and not just smear campaigning, but losing their damn minds with how over-the-top they go, and Republicans keeping their cool and hitting back with facts. It would indicate not just smart campaigning, but also possibly a shift in thinking. “Gee, if we’re going to make this about records and behavior, maybe we should watch our own asses on those.” God knows that if McCain had stepped up and had the smarts and balls to hit his opponent with his record like that, we might not have Barack “Present” Obama screwing us over now. (We’d have McCain screwing us, but there might at least be lube and a condom, and some pillow talk after.) If the Republicans look at Brown vs. Coakley not just as a signal, a rallying call, a hope, but rather as a model, as something to do their best to copy, then they’re almost unbeatable. Because if there’s something Democrats can be counted on to do, it’s to completely flip their shit. All Republicans need to do is steadfastly refuse to flip their shit, and it’s practically a walk-in; but aside from staying calm, campaigning on record? That’s not just getting the seat, that’s victory.

Friday, January 22, 2010The more things change, the more they stay the same…
by AlexinCT
So, now that the government healthcare takeover agenda seems to be all bud dead, the leftists are setting their sight on taking over the financial sector. They are going to cripple the economy and get their hands on our money one way or another, because we are too stupid to understand that they know what’s best for us. Wall Street reacted appropriately, and from the looks of it, despite the concern by some, there will be more of the same to come. Before you start ranting about the evils of Wall Street remember that they are not able to do anything without the tacit and regulatory approval of a politician, and while the left has made a great case of convincing people that these favors are the acts of the right, the truth is that the real big and rewarding sweetheart deals – think AIG bonuses for example – come from democrats. They are the ones that are the easiest to buy. Anyway, I guess this is how Obama plans to help the economy create more jobs? How much longer do we have to endure this destructive economic crap before the next elections clean house?

Wednesday, January 20, 2010Well Now It’s REALLY Dead
by Hal_10000
The Democrats are sounding a conciliatory tone on healthcare. Last night’s election was, of course, a part. But the biggest blow came today. The AFL-CIO said they won’t support the bill. Without Big Labor on board, the Democrats can’t do this thing. While I’m happy with last night’s outcome and the likelihood that this has derailed a bad healthcare bill, I do think we need to get some perspective here. The Democrats still hold 59 seats. We are also at the peak of public anger. Unless the Republicans come up with a real agenda—and by that I mean something other than Sean Hannity’s program notes—they will not be able to sustain this success into November. They’ve given the public something to vote against; now they need to give them something to vote for. Because at some point, the public is going to notice a few things. Breitbart runs down Obama’s first year, by the numbers. There are few things that work in Obama’s favor:
We have a larger presence in Afghanistan. The Iraq War continues to wind down. The bank bailouts are tapering (and were far less than under Bush) and the hysteria about nationalization proved mostly unfounded. If unemployment turns around and/or Obama takes a serious stab at debt—the likelihood of which I leave to your imagination—the tide of public opinion could turn in a hurry. The biggest concern out there, the one driving the tea parties and the one that croaked Martha Coakley’s senate run, is debt. The GOP needs to strike while the iron is hot and come with a serious plan to reduce the debt, short term and long term. I fear this will not happen. All I hear from them is mindless burbling about cutting taxes and protecting Medicare. We saw how well tax cuts and spending hikes worked in the last decade. Last night showed that they have a chance to turn the country around. Will they blow it yet again? I think the next few months, maybe even the next few weeks, will give us the answer to that question.

Tuesday, January 19, 2010Scott Brown wins it!
by AlexinCT
The count is almost over and they are basically saying that it is a done deal, a nail in the democrat coffin, and the less nutty donkeys are already seeing the writing on the wall and backing away from the government healthcare takeover. The message was loud and clear: your government takeover plan sucks, and we don’t want it and we also don’t want Cap and Tax either. The left’s response? We can’t win them all? WTF?? I pray you keep pushing for this government healthcare takeover plan and the Cap and Tax plan that Pelosi & Reid are ramming through, bud. Then you can lose a ton more come November. Just a year ago the leftist twits were telling us that the age of conservatism was dead. That the republican party was toast. While I certainly want the republican party to be toast unless they start acting like conservatives, I am going to toot my own horn and point out that I told everyone that once the democrats got to doing what they do, people would turn against them. The democrats were in a hurry because they knew time was against them. Lucky for the American people they are such moronic idiots that they could not destroy us in one fell swoop. Not saying they can’t still screw us over hard, but the odds they pass any of the damaging and destructive crap they want is now seriously diminished, if not gone. Oh, how I am going to enjoy the fake attempts by the leftists to minimize this loss. Call me petty if you want, but I don’t care. Payback is a bitch.
