Freedom of Press is limited to those who own one - H.L. Mencken
Monday, June 28, 2010I have a different question than all the others are asking…
by AlexinCT
If you missed it, the usual suspects in the MSM are all abuzz about some jerk-off by the name of David Weigel, a supposed correspondent hired at the WaPo to cover conservatives, that got dismissed from the after trying to prove his liberal bonafides on some “Journolist” – a secret internet group hosted online were a bunch of collectivist masquerading as a journalist get together to decide what’s news and what’s not in order to help the progressive agenda – by attacking Matt Drudge and the Drudge report. Weigel, which was hired by the WaPo to cover all things conservative, said these real nasty things in order to appease the 400 or so rabid libs that pass themselves off as journalists on that secret list, in order to make them understand he was one of them. Maybe he wasn’t getting the respect he felt he deserved from them because they believed or suspected him of being a conservative for occasionally giving conservative causes and topics what the losers on this list felt was unjust coverage (a.k.a neutral coverage). Forget the questions why a newspaper that supposedly is unbiased would need one of those conservative coverage guys. I mean, do they have correspondents tasked with covering liberals? Yeah, sure. Anyway, this guy was secretly outted by someone on the list, and the WaPo hoping to save face and make the story go away fired him. Have no doubt that what we had here was some guy that at best pretended to be neutral to conservatives & their causes was covering them. So the leftists in the MSM, now that it is obvious one of their own is under fire, are defending Weigel and disagreeing with his dismissal at the WaPo. Too harsh, or some such drivel. The Kos-nutjobs are even acting like this guy was railroaded in an illegal way. How evil that some lefty turned on another lefty! Forget the questions about the justice of his dismissal, if this guy’s rights were violated, if he was set up or not, or if this was fair or not. These are all beside the point, as well, and of no serious consequence to the real issue at hand. They are all bull to distract us, and all these questions are flying around about the story, are being asked except the one I and everyone of us should be most interested in: there is a secret meeting place where those tasked with providing us the news meet to rig the news to favor progressive causes? W-T-F???? Is it that we have become so used to the bias in the media that nobody but me freaks out when people nonchalantly skip over the fact that the news is skewed to favor the left, and hence one political party, and that these people meet in secret to set strategy, drive the news, and push a disgusting ideological agenda? This is scary stuff. Does anyone doubt that if this had been done by conservatives that we would have the left screaming about a fifth column and demanding an investigation by the DOJ? Do you hear the accusations of the right manipulating the news and people for their advantage? And yet, nary a peep on the fact that the left has just such a list of people that are supposed to be responsible journalists tasked to do just that: manipulate the news to favor the left and their causes. Again, W-T-F???

Friday, May 14, 2010Help me help 23.6 million people
by JimK
I really should have posted this sooner, but school kicked my butt this semester, and this week I have been on crutches & crying thanks to a perfect storm of gout-inducing circumstances. OWW. So I actually sort of forgot about getting the word out...and that makes me a terrible human being to be sure, but… ...I’m here now, blegging for your assistance. On June 13th I’m riding the Tour de Cure, a charity bike ride to raise funds for the American Diabetes Association. I know, these charities have huge overhead, but diabetes doesn’t have a lot of directly-donatable charities, and more people are getting this - especially children. Did you know they no longer call Type 2 “adult-onset diabetes?” Because the largest growing segment that gets it? Kids. Kids are getting a disease that used to afflict mainly the elderly, then fat middle-aged people, and now, thanks to a combination of flat-out evil behavior from food companies and utter laziness coupled with a lack of effort on the parts of parents everywhere...kids are getting “adult onset” diabetes as early as 8 or 9 years old. Just imagine what that means, what you have to feed a child in order to create a disease state that shouldn’t happen to them for another 40 years. Part of the effort to combat this trend is education (both parents and children), and that costs money, and that is where the American Diabetes Association can be useful. SO...go here: http://main.diabetes.org/goto/stark23x. Donate. Sponsor my (still fat but shrinking every day) ass to chug along the roads of North Haven, CT in support of helping not the fat middle-aged dude who eats nothing but King-Size Reese’s and KFC twice a day and can’t figure out why he’s 350 lbs. and his blood sugar is all over the road, but for the child of that parent who doesn’t know that what the kid is being given to eat is going to put them in the ground at an early age. http://main.diabetes.org/goto/stark23x. Right now my class’s team is signed up for the 25K. I should tell you now, that is NOT a challenge for me. However, if I raise $250, I will ride it twice, even if no one else from my team joins me. 50K is a bit of a challenge, but here’s the kicker. $500 and I’ll ride it three times. 75K will literally chap my ass, and I do mean literally. So if you despise me, here’s your chance to make me suffer. The more you give, the more pain I will be in on June 13th. :) http://main.diabetes.org/goto/stark23x.

Tuesday, April 06, 2010Hallelujah! Freedom of more than just porn on the net..
by AlexinCT
I have been busier than a one legged man at an ass kicking contest, and have not posted much lately, but I had to take some time to the fascistic power grab by the friends of the leftist in charge under the guise of promoting Net neutrality. It seems we got spared a drastic reduction of our rights to freedom of speech by the courts which were wise enough to tell these collectivist twits trying to shut up the opposition to take a hike.
Julius Genachowski is tight with Obama. Real tight. And this Net neutrality thing was targeted specifically at the blogosphere and especially those that have not drank the kool-aid. If you think this wasn’t such an attempt, but actually something noble, let me point this out for you:
That’s this Free Press. Check out their About Us Page for the details there. It reads like the usual marxist bull claiming impartiality but literally giving away the heaping pile of dung from the wafting and unavoidable stench you find in all these “progressive” agents.
What they promote, and this Net neutrality bill proves it, is the concept that the only ideas and communication that should be allowed is that which they want: the “progressive” or marxist one. When they use the term “democracy” they refer to it in the same way as the Soviets, North Koreans, East Germans, Cubans, and several collectivist holdovers such as Chavez, refer to it: meaning it is anything but. They are a hard core anti-capitalist bunch that agrees with Obama’s agenda of destroying our economy. Somehow I don’t believe that this rebuff will stop them from trying to control the internet. After all, if it was not for that dastardly internet, people would have to believe the DNC propaganda that the usual MSM outlets spout off as news, with no recourse to the real facts or truth, and that’s what this is all about, in the end.

Friday, December 04, 2009START to expire.
by AlexinCT
It looks like despite the fact that the START treaty is about to expire at midnight tonight without a replacement agreement, that the Russians and the Obama admin have a tentative agreement to stick to it. While this is no loner a big deal these days - the Russians win big getting rid of all their older and crappy missiles that from what reports were leaked by our people would be just as likely to blow up right at launch time if not launc at all with this deal anyway - it is nice to see that Obama and his crew are not getting snowed on this issue as they have on practically everything else. At least not yet, or obviously.

Saturday, May 16, 2009Quick Apartment Bleg
I’m going to go out on a limb and tap into the body of collective wisdom at RTFLC. Three months ago, I moved into a new apartment downtown, third floor, top of the building I’m on. At that time, I was promised verbally (by a broadly trustworthy guy) that the linoleum in my bathroom would be replaced in about a week. A week turned into two, three, and now it’s been three months. Last time I asked was a month ago, and I was told that his son (the repair guy) was working in another building and would be done soon. Obviously, at this point, he’s pretty much put it aside entirely, but the linoleum really does need replacing: there’s a spot where it’s literally held together with a piece of duct tape. Prior tenants clearly weren’t cautious about water. This morning, I woke up and went into the kitchen to make some chili mac (the breakfast of champions), and when I looked down, realized that I was looking at a dying, adult roach on the kitchen floor, lying on its back kicking. This is not only disgusting, it’s also unacceptably unsanitary under NYS law to allow an ongoing infestation. I’m on the third floor, so an adult roach is unlikely to just be a stray from outside, though I’ve never seen any others or any signs of a roach presence. I suspect that it either came in from a nearby apartment via the hallway (the outer door has a substantial gap to the hallway) or through the adjoining wall to the next apartment, where I get the impression they live in a way that might be conducive to roaches. (Unlike in NYC, roaches are not a common problem in Binghamton or upstate NY in general, so you generally really have to be doing something awful to develop a problem.)
I think it’s probably best at this point to put both of my complaints in writing. I also need him to treat the entire building for the roaches, or else it won’t do any good. Anybody have any experience making these particular kinds of complaints to landlords, in a way that gets action without creating ill will?

Monday, April 27, 2009Car guys: halp!
by JimK
Small bleg here...Anyone here know about cars? I have a 1992 Taurus (2.9 ltr v6), that is making a loud, sputtering sharp noise once the engine has been running for a minute or two. Always takes a couple minutes to start, and stays steady and loud at at the same basic intensity no matter how much gas you give it. It *seems* to be coming from the top of the engine, but that could just be deceptive sound. It is definitely coming from the engine compartment somewhere and not under the car or from the back. It does sound like an exhaust leak, and it has been six years since anyone has looked at that exhaust system. Just want to know what direction to nudge the mechanic is so I don’t get burned when I take it in. Any ideas?

I’m looking for a solid GOP conservative to balance out the posts here. You don’t have to be a fundie or anything like that, you just have to be someone who thinks that it’s a mistake to vote for anything other than GOP, and that you generlly agree with what the GOP does. If this is the case, send me and tell me who you are, with a general synopsis of what your beliefs are. I’ll pick the best applicant based on what you write. (And yes, you will be judged on your writing abilities.) Sounds like something you’d be interested in? Hit that email button.

Sunday, September 14, 2008Ping! Fundraiser reminder
by JimK
First of all, thank you SO much to every person that has already donated to the server fund. Some of you did it anonymously, and some of you let me know. Either way is cool, but those of you who let me know who you are...I’m trying to figure out something cool with which I can thank you. At the very least I will address each of you individually, as I have developed at least that much class over the years. Well...almost. As I said the last time, if you think we’re worth a few bucks...please hit the tip jar. It’s not an emergency, it’s just a bit of a rough patch and this server never gets cheaper. It never gets more expensive, thankfully, but it never gets cheaper. All we’re asking for is a small contribution. Think of it like buying us a pizza...or a couple of microbrews. Just a few bucks to get the monkey called Softlayer (our hosting provider) off our backs.

As always...you rock.

Monday, September 08, 2008It’s fundraising time…
by JimK
JimK here… People, you have no idea how little I want to write this post. I have been putting it off forever, but numbers are numbers, and numbers don’t lie. My numbers are telling me that I need to once again ask for the support and generosity of the readers of the blogs on our server. If you read anything by me, Lee, any of the guys at MOA, Moorewatch or Right-Thinking or anyone else we host, and you think we’re worth a few bucks...please hit the tip jar. It’s not an emergency, no one is dying, no one is losing their house, although our house is part of it - our tax bill went up because our house is worth more, so our mortgage escrow is short and you homeowners know what that means! Monkeys on backs. All we’re asking for is a small contribution. Think of it like buying us a pizza...or a couple of microbrews. Just a few bucks to get the monkey called Softlayer (our hosting provider) off our backs.
