I've done a courtesy search for the term to ron paul or not to ron paul for you. See if you can find what you're looking for in the list below:
Because he’ll take a seemingly legitimate point and drop into a vat of stupidity. Here’s the clip everyone is talking about:
Buried within that stupidity is a legitimate point that the Republican leadership and a large part of the punditsphere are campaigning against a partially imaginary candidate. I’ve pointed out before that the “apology tour” stuff was bull and that Obamacare, bad as it is, was hatched in conservative circles and is to the right … Read more
A gem from my favorite writer that has a special resonance in this economy:
The elites who denounce poverty despise the poor. Their every high-minded, right-thinking “poverty program” proves this detestation — from the bulldozing of vibrant tenement communities to the drug law policing policies that send poor kids to prison and rich kids to rehab to the humiliation of food stamps and free school lunches to the loathsome inner-city public schools where those free
I’ve mentioned before the coterie of standard bearers that I find useful to check in with from time to time (Rush, Ann, Charles), not so much to get marching orders (how convenient for the left) but as a sounding board/backstop, to reinforce opinions already reached (when they go off the deep end, they really go canonball), or to discover an angle I had not thought of. And probably the guy preeminent on that list is … Read more
John Huntsman is dropping out and endorsing Romney after one of the more puzzling campaigns in recent memory.
I can not understand how Huntsman failed to gain any traction with the GOP. His record as governor was staunchly conservative. As I tweeted last night, he not only had a plan to deal with “too big to fail banks”, he seemed to be the only candidate — Republican or Democrat — who realized that “too … Read more
Must be nice to be able to stand proud, confident, and 100% behind any candidate, I’m not so lucky, and neither is 58% of folks like myself. I’ve illustrated before the downside of falling in love with any candidate, like equities they must be evaluated quarterly since the story and your reason for support can change.
For the purposes of a levity break, and sometimes this blog really needs it, I present a true believer … Read more
You know, the Onion has a point. They have a satirical article about Obama not wanting to run for President again:
Arguing he’d have to be certifiably insane or some kind of sadistic freak to extend his presidency, Obama asked why anyone with half a brain would willingly open himself up to constant vilification by media strategists, or place himself in a situation that involves so much work for such little reward. He also
The first official vote of the 2012 race is today in Iowa. It looks like the result will be a near tie between Paul, Romney and … I can’t believe I’m typing this .. Santorum. Perry and Gingrich are likely to finish a ways back. Bachmann and Santorum are likely to be way back.
This thing has already dragged out over a year and I think I’ve made my opinions of the candidates clear. I … Read more
In probably the most foreseeable political development of the last month, the Ron Paul newsletters have moved front and center in news coverage of the Republican primary. We discussed this issue extensively four years ago and I’ll just repeat what I said then: the content of the newsletters is deplorable; I believe Ron Paul when he says he didn’t write them; but he owes the voters a much more thorough response than he has provided … Read more
I have a sort of like-dislike relationship with Politifact. I think they are useful for gathering facts and providing background. I actually find their long-form articles, where they hash out the details of claims and allow both sides to make their case, much more illuminating than their offhand ratings, which are a bit arbitrary. They are certainly superior to, say, Media Matters, which unabashedly touts the liberal line. But I do occasionally find they get … Read more
Private Bradley Manning’s Article 32 hearing, the military’s equivalent of the preliminary hearing, where evidence is presented (not too much, btw, just enough to show cause for a trial) started last week, for a primer:
Next year the military will try both Manning and Major Hasan. Each trial will naturally have different elements since the charges are vastly different, but I am struck at the similarities of the defenses presented, or will be presented.
Much … Read more
