  • The Least Surprising Mortgage Story

You remember the Tobacco settlement, don’t you? Based on dubious claims that smoking costs the states healthcare money, 46 states entered into an agreement that (1) froze the market for cigarettes in favor of a cartel existing companies; (2) took hundreds of billions from those companies, which they simply passed on as price hikes to the captive market; (3) paid lawyers tens of millions of dollars; (4) poured money into states ostensibly for healthcare … Read more

  • Obama Legacy Fun Thread

    Jeezus:

If you haven’t gotten enough of Barack Obama lecturing on constitutional law, just wait until you get a chance to read the White House’s take on presidential history. Rory Cooper at the Heritage Foundation was the first to notice that the Obama administration edited the official presidential histories on the White House website to include a blurb about Obama on the page dedicated to Ronald Reagan. Commentary’s Seth Mandel followed up and found

  • Happy Dependent Mother’s Day!

    From the White House website:

    These people really are shameless.

(And while I’m up … it’s still disgusting how insurance companies charging women more because they use more healthcare is seen as some evil plot needing government intrusion. It shows that the Left really don’t understand what insurance is. Insurance is risk management. I just had a $20,000 surgery, which would have been a devastating cost, but was manageable because it was effectively spread out … Read more

  • There is a lot more to this story…

Everyone is up in arms about the new school regulation banning bake sales in MA. The parents that usually use these sales to raise money for school sports and other such activities are incensed.

Bake sales, the calorie-laden standby cash-strapped classrooms, PTAs and booster clubs rely on, will be outlawed from public schools as of Aug. 1 as part of new no-nonsense nutrition standards, forcing fundraisers back to the blackboard to cook up alternative

  • The Wisconsin Elephant

The big story for the next month is going to be the recall of Scott Walker. The Democratic primary is on Tuesday and they seem to be coalescing behind a semi-electable candidate. And then, in June, we’ll have the recall election. If you want to keep up, I highly recommend Ann Althouse (actually, I recommend her even if you could give two shits about the election). She’s front-and-center of the fight, objective and insightful.

  • Hindsight is 20-20, and progressive stupid is forever

And I have no doubt that Barney’s claim that he told Obama to not push for the government takeover of healthcare seems a lot like this tool is again trying to dazzle people with his bullshit. Monday morning quarterbacking, and a piss poor attempt at it at best:

Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., said he advised President Obama against taking up health care reform following a special election in 2010 that changed Democrats’ fortunes in the

  • The Founding Fathers Said What?

I must hand it to Harvard: only at Harvard could someone be educated enough to make such a weak argument:

In making the legal case against Obamacare’s individual mandate, challengers have argued that the framers of our Constitution would certainly have found such a measure to be unconstitutional. Nevermind that nothing in the text or history of the Constitution’s Commerce Clause indicates that Congress cannot mandate commercial purchases. The framers, challengers have claimed, thought

  • Stimulus update

If it costs, on average and pulling it off the top of my head, over $600K per job created by the stimuluspatronage bill, then I guess nobody should be surprised that it also cost us tax payers $205,075 to ‘Translocate’ One Shrub from Path of Stimulus Project in glorious People’s Republic of San Fran, where Queen Pelosi reigns supreme:

(CNSNews.com) — The government spent at least $205,075 in 2010 to “translocate” a single

  • The Left Loses it on SCOTUS

Imagine the most bizarre rant you’ve ever heard about “judicial activism”. Imagine it being delivered by Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly simultaneously while drunk. Imagine them delivering it in Esperanto, a language they don’t know. You will still not reach a thousandth of the anger and spittle and incoherence being spewed out by the Left Wing commentariat over the possibility that the Supreme Court will overturn Obamacare. And remember, this is just days after saying … Read more

  • My Belly and Me

So, yeah, the last few days have been somewhat eventful. My gallbladder attacked me and I had to have a laparoscopic cholecystectomy to get it out. I’m home now, under 24 hours after the procedure, recovering nicely and perusing the last few days of Google Reader to see how stupid the Left has been while I was out (answer: very).

Just one thought I’d like to share:

And the more I think about it,
