Lots of us going this way

Lots of us going this way

The establishment, and especially the sheep that want to virtue signal because they bought into what they deluded themselves was the right way of thinking, is pissed that the plebes have rebelled against the progressive nanny state, and are throwing a tantrum.

Thanks for illustrating the utter total nihilism that defines the Trump movement.  It’s all about pissing off liberals.  Rule of law, the Constitution, the economy — who gives a shit.  As long as you get to piss off liberals, you’re fine.

Nice strawman, Hal. Actually what it is is a “Holy fuck the left is a bunch of insane spoiled brats and how did we miss that before, because I am now off that fucking wagon” thing. It is actually a thing the left earned with their behavior. But hey, make it again about how the people have finally realized how fucked up the left is, you know, those deplorables, are the ones that have a problem all you want. The more of that we have… You know the drill.

Alex – I am actually keen on your perspective.

Outside of pissing off liberals, do you think a Trump presidency is good for America. Because all your posts are about how you’re enjoying the melt down, and before the election you didn’t exactly seem too keen on him (mature into the presidency, that sort of thing).

I get that you wanted to give the establishment and the left a bloody nose – and that’s happened. Apart from that do you see him as a good pick?

Try and answer without mentioning Obama or Hillary. They’re gone now.

As a so-con who reluctantly voted for Trump here is my take.

I remember when the GOP ran a successful, compassionate governor and businessman. “He gave an employee of one of his companies cancer. His running mate wants to push Grandma off a cliff. Eleventy!!”

I remember when the GOP ran a U.S. Senator and honorable military veteran who had spent several years as a POW. “He wants to blow up the world. He wants to kill brown people.”

I remember when the Tea Party first started in 2000.  Truly non violent, peaceful, protesting groups that left the protest area cleaner and neater than it had been when they arrived.  “They can’t stand that a black man is finally president.  Racist!!”

Every GOP since and including Dewey had been accused of being a Nazi.  Every nominee since Goldwater has been accused of being a racist.  Every conservative protest group is the second coming of the KKK.

Every nominee before Trump has let that color their campaign and policy in order to demonstrate (unsuccessfully) the falsity of those accusations.  While I don’t believe Trump to be guilty of those accusations any more than the previous candidates, but he didn’t let them color his campaign, and doesn’t appear to be letting them color his policies either.

And old, run down home may still have a solid foundation, and structure, but before restoration work to return it to its former splendor, animals may need to be removed, overgrowth may need to be cut back, and the interior may need to be emptied out of much discarded trash.

I don’t believe for a minute that Trump is the man to return us to constitutional rule, but he is removing the wild animals, trimming back the overgrown brambles, and clearing out the interior of all the refuse.  Once that is complete, the actual builder can come in and begin the task of restoration.

    Remember when Lee posted this?

And let’s not forget the classic Hewitt satire which is eerily dead-on accurate.

Shit Sandwich Suprisingly Tasty; I Give It A B+

I know what you’re thinking: “Why should I try a shit sandwich?” I might have felt the same way a few days ago, but now I’m a believer.

I was chatting with an administration insider over the weekend. During a sidebar in the conversation, it was intimated to me that President Bush’s favorite late-night snack was a “shit sandwich” with tartar sauce on the side. That encouraged me to give it a shot with an open mind. I know the president is intuitive yet discriminating in his choices, and isn’t afraid to go against the conventional wisdom. He also needs a lot of energy to get up early and fight the GWOT each day.

So I tried it. The verdict? Earthy, no-nonsense flavor. The tangy contrast of the tartar sauce is initially off-putting, but like Bush, I’m in this game for the long term. I’ll give it some time to grow on me. It’s easily a B+ snack.

UPDATE: My insider friend just called me again; apparently I misheard his end of the conversation, it was a fish sandwich. Well, that shouldn’t surprise me. In addition to introducing bold new ideas, Bush has always shown an appreciation for the traditional eating values that made this country great in the first place.

Speaking of… er <insert your own segue here> I just watched the interview Katie Couric did with Edward Snowden. It’s long. If you haven’t heard him talk directly before (like in Citizen 4), it is really profound.

Thanks for illustrating the utter total nihilism that defines the Trump movement.

Do you even know what nihilism is?  Hint:  It has nothing to do with making a nation great again, or about restoring that which is perceived to be lost.  Hell, nihilism is the absolute antithesis of that.

It’s all about pissing off liberals.

No, that’s just gravy, and an indication that things are going right.  If liberals hate it, it must be good for the country as a whole.

Rule of law, the Constitution, the economy — who gives a shit.

The Obama Administration sure didn’t seem to.  Liberals certainly don’t seem to.

As long as you get to piss off liberals, you’re fine.

Yeah, because it, again, indicates that you’re doing something right.

Yeah, here we go again.  When Republicans are in charge, dissent becomes “the highest form of patriotism”.  When the Dems are in charge, dissent is pretty much treason.  At the very least, it’s racism if the Dem happens to be quasi-black, or sexism if the Dem happens to be quasi-female.

Er…. I supported Snowden from the beginning. Against Obama. He was a patriot then. He is still a patriot now. No change. I didn’t mention Trump.

    Meanwhile …

Me a year ago:  “Please, anybody but Trump.”

Me today:  “Dear fucking God, what the hell did Trump do to trample all over the constitution yet again today? 2018 can’t come soon enough.”

I’ve never voted Democrat in my entire life.  Trump’s dictator-wannabe antics and blatant disregard of checks and balance (as well as the Senate and House Republicans simply marching in step doing whatever Trump wants them to do) is pushing me towards voting a straight blue ticket in 2018 (and probably in 2020, depending on how much I like the Libertarian candidate and how realistic that candidate’s chances of making 5% is).

Fair enough.  I apologize for the misunderstanding.

It doesn’t matter. We’re a homogeneous group. They, on the other hand, are individuals. Get with the program.

Or, perhaps, I simply didn’t have a chance to respond until now, but let’s not let reality interfere with your mental masturbation snarkiness.

That said, you are correct to a degree.  Those on the left are more collectivist and those on the right more individualist, generally speaking.

So far Cress, the fact that he will dismantle most of what was done during the Obama years, and that he represents a rebellion against the status quo and the establishment,  done without allowing the left to use their usual tactics of shame, all make me feel far, far more optimistic for the future than I did at any time before the election, and to be frank for a couple of weeks after.

See, I think what people miss is that I hate used car salesmen politicians. The credentialed law degree class has lost touch with reality. The level of condescension they have towards people they see as their lessers, combined with the staggering delusion they have about their capabilities, has not dissuaded them of any of the nonsense they belief. People like Krugman saying that after we pissed away trillions on idiotic social and social engineering programs, that the reason these failed was that we simply didn’t piss away even more money, gall me. Couple that with a political class that despite the horrible failures, both costly and deadly, demands they be allowed to fix the problem of their own making. That is if they admit they made the problems in the first place.  Idiotic ideas like multiculturalism, which has only served to divide instead of uniting people, while allowing special interest groups to abuse a system that is rife with egregious abuse already, have rendered society untenable. Every time we hit an economic crisis caused by attempts to social engineer against the laws of economics and human nature, they basically throw away good money, make it harder for those of us not part of a special class, and then double down on the stupid by not giving up on the very social engineering attempt seeking to bend reality that caused the problems in the first place. Or look at their humane socialized medical systems that cost a fortune, without exception all deliver sup-par or  below sub-par value, and basically rations care. These people fail on every level, but refuse to accept that the problem is them and what they believe.

What passes for the common beliefs amongst the world’s intelligentsia – that leftist feel good pap – has not worked, and none of the people in charge want to admit this and tell people that things need to get hard for a while so we can avoid the impending and unavoidable collapse from the path we are on. Trump to me is promising because he basically has told all these credentialed douchebags to take a long hike off a short pier. I have no idea how successful he will be, but that he is willing to try something different than the same stupid shit, something which the credentialed elites kept doing while telling everyone that this time it would produce a different result, wouldn’t, is a great thing.

That and the fact that the left has gone berserk because the guy plays by the same rules they have been playing and continue to play by: something no establishment republican would ever have done. I love me some progressive tears. Especially when it is loaded with the pants shitting, crazy ass, butthurt, hormones that the snowflakes are all creating in their overdrive to virtue signal their coolness to each other.

Ummm, is it good for America that a codified defined procedure exists (The Constitution)  that allows the people to decide who their president is? Is it good for America that opposing positions carry that particular day and is allowed to formulate policy as an alternative to what the other party had in place?

Now if your question is ,”Will a Trump presidency be good for America” I would answer what I’ve said all along…………lets see what happens?  Try to fight the urge to bury him after only 2 weeks in the job.
