President Trump

I’ll have more thoughts later in the day, including some thoughts on the future of the blog. Right now, the popular vote is tied but Clinton could still win it slightly. So as far as the polling goes, it wasn’t entirely wrong. The result was off by 3 or 4 points, which is a big error, but not historic. The people who projected a 99% chance of a Clinton win, as I said, were too drunk on state polling.

Right now, the Left is melting down, proclaiming that this proves America is a racist misogynistic country. Maybe. But the fact is that only real victories the Democrats have had in the last 22 years — 2006 and 2008) were the result of the disastrous Bush presidency. The Republicans have piled up win after win in Congress and the State Houses. This year, they nominated a woman had trouble winning the NY senate seat in 2000, lost a gift-wrapped nomination in 2008 and was just humiliated by a semi-coherent hamster.

Maybe they need to rethink their approach to this whole politics thing.

I will enjoy the salty tears because of things like this:

“We are disgusted, embarrassed, we are sorry on behalf of our country that the white male uneducated vote has spoken today,” railed Celia Rowlson-Hall, a 32-year-old filmmaker.

“We, as the other half of the country that believes in love, unity, and fairness — we have to gather together even stronger to fight against this man who only represents hate and bigotry and xenophobia.”

Nearby, 40-something Anne Shaw, a civil rights attorney from Illinois, could not hold back her disappointment.

“Trump is a nut case — he is all over the place,” Shaw said.

Hillary is a crook, a liar, a despicable human being, and you people deserve to have lost for looking down at others you consider to be nothing but dreggs for basically pointing out they were tired of business as usual from the failed and corrupt left and the globalist establishment in DC.

I would have preferred neither candidate had won. Barring that, I preferred Hillary went down in flames precisely because of the hair pulling, teeth gnashing, shirt rending, pants shitting, and downright insulting tone I expected these people to take. That and the slap across the face to the DNC operatives with bylines.

It was just juicy as hell to watching the idiots at the Clinton News Network, PMSNBC, and a slew of other places first act in total denial and ramble about how she could still win, come to the realization she was getting trounced, and then resort to the usual ad hominem attacks attacks about how those that chose to avoid the lying crook had to have done so because they were uneducated, misogynistic, racist, homophobic, xenophobic rubes, last night and this morning.

Now have Obama pardon her so he can avoid getting dragged into the aftermath as well and get back to making up lies and fabricating the most negative possible view of anything Trump says or does so we get gridlock for the next 4 years. Then America and Americans will have won.

Interesting. You’d prefer President-elect Child Rapist to an ordinary run-of-the-mill politician who has sold out to fixed interests.

I am back, btw. Just for a bit. Mainly to taunt Alex.

You must have a devastatingly low opinion of American politics if you consider Hillary Clinton to be “an ordinary run-of-the-mill politician” at any level……

proclaiming that this proves America is a racist misogynistic country. Maybe.

Maybe? Really? you are sounding about as nutty as Rowlson-Hall in Alex’s link.

First, congrats Cress, you called it as another Brexit, you could not have been more right.

Congrats to both Alex and Icon, our 2 reluctant Trumps supporters, you guys also had it right.

    For my own self…….What…A…Glorious…Day!!!!

I was the resident right thinker who slammed Trump, voted for Kasich in the primary and was for the most part embarrassed by our choice. Yes, I did actually vote for Trump, I’m not an idiot, but never in my wildest did I expect this, happy days.

Hillary gives her concession speech in a few minutes, for once in my life I actually want to her her speak.

    Some immediate outcomes;

The MSM has just been relegated to irrelevancy, ’bout time.

Obama gets his face rubbed in it. Never has an incumbant (and wife) run so hard for their nominee, all for naught.

With control of congress, Trump will get possibly 3 SCOTUS picks in his term, more Scalia’s, please.

    Now have Obama pardon her

You know, that would be fine with me. His legacy is alreadty crap, his own making, and everyone knows what a crook she is, both of these points would get asterisked with this pardon.

How astute Trump was, to have his finger on the pulse of the average guy sick of the establishment and so craving a real leader. Hopefullt Obama will slink away, out of the public eye, and spend all his days playing golf.

Side note, Hillary speaks any minute, just heard that she will use teleprompters, can’t she muster enough words and emotions to speak to her supporters, something from the heart, without using a pre written speech?

Well, not so fast — while I was a “reluctant Trump supporter”, I did repeatedly say that I actually expected Hillary to win.  This is one of those times where I am extremely happy to be proven wrong.

good riddance, now lets see if they have any honor and walk the walk.

    Oh look, CM is getting a new neighbor;

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg joked in an interview with The New York Times in July that it’d be time to move to New Zealand if Trump were to win.

    See ya.

I didn’t vote for Trump. Still don’t want him or Clinton as president either. But I have to ask, how was Clinton ever “overqualified” as a I have seen many of my leftists friends proclaim for quite a long time. She had a rather meaningless run in Congress and a SoS term that is most notable for carrying around a reset button and adding to further instability in Africa and the Middle East. It feels to me that all she did was ride on Bill’s much more charismatic coattails and if I was a believer of the supernatural and judging by how Bill looks nowadays draining the lifeforce from his body.

Expect them to double down on the very things that got them there today, because after all, the problem can’t be the broken ideology, the terrible candidate, or the partisanship without shame, but has to be the misogynist, racist, xenophobic, and homophobic plebs that just refuse to listen to their betters.

Mark my words: the constant accusations that dissent against this president was wrong (and racist), the talk about how the constitution is a broken compact by white slave owners that should be revised (especially around the 2nd amendment), and the executive branch doing whatever it wanted by fiat was a great way to dealing with an obstructionist minority congress, clearly driven by nefarious reasons, are all going to suddenly be the exact opposite of what the credentialed elite that look down on the rubes have been saying for the last 8 years.

That and wars will suddenly be evil and wrong again….

She was a miserable failure at all that stuff, but was great at making money selling out the US for favors, telling lies when the truth would have actually benefited her, was married to Bill the chubby intern chaser, and most important of all had a vagina!

One that Trump likely would have grabbed or will now grab since he has been rewarded for doing that! /panicked leftist derp

I am relishing all the salty tears from you progs. Hide your disappointment and your feelings of inadequacy behind whatever veneer suits you. Taunt away all you think you need/want bud.

I will just point out Hillary and Obama have been relegated to the dustbin of history. Even if Trump is mediocre my sole wish – to keep the Clintons away from the WH – has happened. the only thing that would top that is that Obama doesn’t pardon this evil hag and she ends up dragging him down with her. I suspect he will pardon her to avoid that and basically, as others already said, put the final nail in his own coffin of irrelevance.

    To quote Obama: “I won!”

Do you honestly believe that you don’t do this (and pretty much nothing else)?

What’s the relevance?  Alex never claims to be neutral, but the MSM is supposed to be.  Alex is just a blogger on what is ostensibly a right-wing blog.  Furthermore, Alex ain’t paid to do this, but the various MSM hacks are paid, quite generously, I might add.  So these paid professionals are failing to live up to what used to be expected: neutral, unbiased reporting of facts.  That this is no longer even expected is the real tragedy.

Also, Alex’ audience is a bit limited, whereas the MSM’s audience is vast.   This means that the thinking of millions can be manipulated and swayed by the MSM, which is simply dangerous, and which is why they are supposed to be neutral, even though all pretense of such has been long abandoned.

    Now have Obama pardon her

According to the Supreme Court in Burdick v. United States,  “[A pardon] carries an imputation of guilt; acceptance a confession of it.”

A pardon cannot be forced on someone so in some ways, it would be interesting to see if Hillary would accept a pardon, thereby admitting her guilt.

Trump still has his own legal issues to attend to:

In less than three weeks, Trump is scheduled to take the witness stand in a federal civil trial over alleged fraud in the Trump University real estate seminar program, according to Politico.

Presided over by U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel in San Diego, the trial is one of twoclass action lawsuits filed by former students of Trump University alleging they were lured into paying up to $35,000 for real estate investment seminars that did not have the instructors or depth of subject matter promised.
The class-action case, Low v. Trump University LLC, 10-cv-00940n, is in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California and is set for trial Monday, Nov. 28.
The New York attorney general also has a suit pending, in New York state court, accusing Trump University of fraud for deceiving students.
Just as many elements of Trump’s candidacy and path to the White House were unprecedented, so too is this degree of legal entanglement: never before has a president-elect had to defend himself in court as he also begins the enormous transition required to assume the presidency in January.

In addition to the suits over Trump University, Trump declared in an October speech in Gettysburg that he plans to sue the more than a dozen women who accused him of sexual harassment and assault. Additionally, New York state is conducting an investigation into his charitable foundation.

Pardon her for what exactly? Has she been convicted of something? I must have missed that.

And I was in no way a Hillary supporter, but I certainly didn’t want another narcissistic, self-entitled sex criminal in the White House. One who has continually sold out his investors and screwed over small contractors.

    But moving right along…

Now that the Republicans control all three branches of the federal government, they should be thinking about the kind of electoral reforms that will strengthen the republic – this means cleaning up the institutions that currently allow disenfranchising voters, gerrymandering of electorates, and selling out to big commercial interests. Things might look pretty rosy now, but this path leads to Chavez mark II in 8 – 12 years time.

They won’t do any of that though – after all, they’re Republicans… (not Conservatives).

A pardon does not require a conviction.

Even the Ford pardon of Nixon acknowledges that:

Now, THEREFORE, I, GERALD R. FORD, President of the United States, pursuant to the pardon power conferred upon me by Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution, have granted and by these presents do grant a full, free, and absolute pardon unto Richard Nixon for all offenses against the United States which he, Richard Nixon, has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 20, 1969 through August 9, 1974.

I am willing to bet money this turns out to be another SJW person making shit up as has been the case in 95% of these cases. I expect a ton more of this idiocy now that Trump won. Just like the left did with GWB, and just like they have been doing during the last 8 years to feed the narrative. Of course, as soon as it comes out that this shit is a hoax we will never hear about that, or if we do, it will be a bunch of douches saying that even though this was fake this really happens all the time. Hey CM. Nice to be back. Did I miss much?

I’ve been working for a couple of years in parts of the world where people disappear for speaking out against the government. I am concerned that the US is heading in that direction too – not necessarily under Trump, but more likely under the person that follows him. So your post above rang a few alarm bells.

Howdy there. Not really. Alex has gone from bad to just laughable. He’s given up trying. It’s entertaining though, although I don’t think anyone reads at least half of it.

Some tantrums. Plenty of ad hominem, and rank hypocrisy. Some echo-chamber stuff and some internal squabbling about how much of a liberal sell-out Hal is. Loads and loads of Obama Derangement Syndrome and lately (inevitably) heaps of HRC Derangement Syndrome , although both of those will presumably die down soon and only show themselves when things go wrong for Trump. Inbetween there have also been some excellent and thoughtful assessments and opinion from a few people.

OK. So not so different from the past decade or so… I am expecting Alex will have to dust off his old talking points notes from the Bush era: Unemployment has never been higher lower, federal government debt is way up down. At least he can always run his solid “collectivist” rant when things get sticky.

    Glad you didn’t disappear then!

Not so much a problem for me (I would have most likely been put straight on a plane outa there), but some of the locals  who worked for me were politically active and working on human rights issues. Had a couple of bad run-ins with secret police that could have gone very badly. I am glad to be out of there (can’t say where ‘there’ is, sorry).
