I am surprised that this didn’t happen sooner, and I hope they succeed

Ever since the days of Ataturk, the Turkish military has been the guarantor of their nation’s constitution and their first bulwark against the islamification of that country. After Edrogan spent the last decade pissing all over their constitution’s clear separation of church and state, I am not surprised to see that the military decided that there had to be an end to Edrogan’s abuses:

An announcer on Turkey’s state broadcaster TRT has read out a live statement, reportedly on the orders of the military, announcing that the army has taken control.

The statement said the country is now being run by a “peace council”, declaring that martial law and a nationwide curfew are in place.

“It looks like a relatively well orchestrated coup by a substantial body of the military, not just a few colonels,” an EU source told news agency Reuters.

“They control several strategic points in Istanbul. Given the scale of the operation, it is difficult to imagine they will stop short of prevailing,” the source said.

According to Turkish media, the military statement said it had taken action to: “reinstall the constitutional order, democracy, human rights and freedoms, to ensure that the rule of law once again reigns in the country, for the law and order to be reinstated.”

Frankly I am glad to see this, as I feel that Islam in its current incarnation is a cancer on humanity, and it needs to be dealt with. I hope that these people succeed, with the least amount of casualties and trouble, and that some sanity can return to Turkey, which plays a key role in that part of the world as a stabilizing force as well as the gateway to Europe from the Middle East. As a NATO member, I think Turkey was close to being a dangerous weakness and liability with Edrogan in charge, and while I am sure the authoritarians in Brussels will huff and puff, many of them will also be hoping that the military prevails.

I am sure Obama will be on the wrong side of this and if you needed another reason to see how inept this administration is, remember that they got got caught unawares according to the news going around out there. I am sure that if they knew they would have sided with the islamists causes, like they always do. Don’t be fooled by the half measures taken against ISIS into thinking otherwise. Remember Iran.

It seems very possible now that the coup was staged in order for Erdogan to purge some folks.  He’s been just horrible about people who disagree with him, including suing people in Germany for vocally criticizing him (seriously, Germany, that shouldn’t be a thing).  He’s also been a lot less secular than we’ve been used to out of Turkey, so I’m guessing right now that we’ve all been played.  Rather than getting deposed, Erdogan now just got the additional power he needed to get rid of thousands of military personnel who don’t agree with his direction.  This sure didn’t need to happen this way, and you can thank the Obama administration in advance because I’m sure that they’ll come down on whatever side of this is the worst for our interests.

    Thumb up 0

After reading this this, I now am certain Edrogan was behind this coup for sure, and all so he could have an excuse to do exactly what he is doing now. It’s the Reichstag fire all over, and anyone claiming otherwise is a delusional fool.

The reaction from the EU and from our own administration is what cements this villainy for me. Tyrants will give props to other tyrants.
