Free shit! Now vote for us…

In a blatantly obvious effort to just buy votes, President Obama has decided that he will make the Social Security system insolvent even faster. Yeah, leftards love the idea that Obama will hand out more free shit:

President Barack Obama called for expanding Social Security on Wednesday, prompting progressive groups to declare victory after they tangled with him over a plan to save costs in the entitlement program three years ago.

After all, I was going to say I predict, but that requires I have a chance to be wrong about something I am gonna say, so I am just going to say what these morons will make as the go-to argument for taking this idiotic step: “you can just pick the pockets of the productive and rich some more, can’t you?”. And as I point out:

“And not only do we need to strengthen its long-term health, it’s time we finally made Social Security more generous and increased its benefits so that today’s retirees and future generations get the dignified retirement that they’ve earned,” Obama said in an economic call to arms in Elkhart, Indiana. “We could start paying for it by asking the wealthiest Americans to contribute a little bit more.”

Yeah, sure, “a little bit more”. That will do it. The facts be damned. This boondoggle is already running a massive deficit, and the truth is that even that number is bullshit, because that substantial deficit is made smaller by an accounting trick that ignores the massive $10 trillion discrepancy caused by government borrowing money from SS to fund other social spending over a couple of decasdes, and replacing it with worthless IOUs that will basically have to be paid off by US tax payers.

It will take a fucking ton more than picking the pockets of the rich to overcome the existing problem, let alone finding enough money to allow the system to pay up even more like the “free shit” democrat voting block likes and wants. But Obama knows he can say this shit, and heck, even push it through a spineless congress, and never have to be held accountable for it. Someone else can be blamed and hated when the whole thing collapses, and I bet Obama will say that things were doing just great – and get the DNC parrots in the LSM to go along with that whopper of a lie – when he decided to nail yet another stake into that vampire.

This is the shit that passes for great political action these days. We truly deserve the end to this once great country. How far we have fallen.

What is your point CM? The fact of the matter is that no matter how often and brutal the failures of collectivism and collectivist regimes have been, used car salesmen can always count on people that are persuaded by appeals to feelings (primarily greed and envy) to keep this shit front and center.

The fact is that we have not had capitalism on this planet, certainly not from any government entity, anywhere for decades. What we have is a crony system, ironically created by the very left telling us how horrible the system they have been created is of all things, that basically allowed the political class to profit from selling favors. Note that the claim your article makes about how the current economic model has served to only make a few people very rich fails to mention that the people that have not just allowed that to happen, but have exacerbated it, are the very people now telling us that this system has failed.

You can’t bend the laws of economics or human nature, no matter how hard you try. The left has corrupted things, and done so badly, and then waged an incredibly successful and well orchestrated orchestrated campaign of lies to convince people that the reason isn’t what they believe and have done, but the fault of capitalism of all things. Let me remind you of what the system you want to straddle us with really looks like.

Note that just like we have it in today’s system, a very few elite (Chavez’s daughter is now worth billions) have all the money and power, and the rest live at a level of misery that is simply staggering. The only difference between what we have today and Venezuela is that the corrupt elite in Venezuela managed to sell the lie to enough idiots to allow them to take full control and rape everyone after that. I have no doubt that people like Obama, Clinton, and Sanders would do the same to this country if given the chance.

Memorize this quote: “In a truly capitalist system the rich will have power, but in the collectivist system only the powerful will have any riches”.

That is in a nutshell the difference between the two systems.

  2. Iconoclast

To reiterate what Alex said, calling what actually exists “neoliberalism” doesn’t make it so.  What they admit is failing is actually crony capitalism.   From the article:

They have riffled through every page in the textbook and beyond – bank bailouts, spending cuts, wage freezes, pumping billions into financial markets – and still growth remains anaemic.

Those are all government intervention measures, the absolute antithesis of how neoliberalism is defined (emphasis added):

modern politico-economic theory favouring free trade, privatization, minimal government intervention in business, reduced public expenditure on social services, etc

Just more Orwellian nonsense, calling crony capitalism (which absolutely is failing) “neoliberalism”, and proclaiming that it’s neoliberalism that’s failing.

At least they admit that they “have riffled through every page in the textbook and beyond”, which means it’s an abject failure.  They’re just lying through their teeth by calling it the wrong thing.

You should go read this CM: Equal Is Unfair: America’s Misguided Fight Against Income Inequality.

What we have today is credentialed crooks and criminals playing on the envy and greed of people that are willing to buy that the system is rigged against them by someone, but failing to grasp that the people that have rigged it against them are the very crooks and liars promising to fix what they have broken, and broken on purpose, so they can shift it even more in favor of the crooks and liars and their buddies.

What we need to fix the economic inequality is less government. Less government means less chance for people to buy favors from government. But corrupt collectivists, or craven people that give lip service to the failed collectivist dogma because they know idiots like you lap it up, know that a system where they can’t sell favor means both less power and less opportunity for graft. Hence the bullshit article you link and people that are fucking us over but pretend to be doing the shit they do to fix what they broke in the very first place. And idiots like you simply can’t see that’s happening, for whatever reason, or worse see it fine but don’t care, because what you really want is to punish those that are better of than you because you dislike the fact they are.

After all, in the mind of people like you, and granted, if you are a collectivist and you see collectivism at work, I understand why you believe this is the case, success can only come by abuses of power and a rigged system. But to attribute that despicable corrupt system to capitalism is the height of hypocrisy.

The only fair system is one where we are left to our own devices to pursue our dreams. There is neither a guarantee of success, nor a metric everyone should meet, because whether we want to admit it or not, we are all different.

Ideologues on both sides argue the same thing: it’s not ‘pure’ enough. But it’s human nature which won’t allow ideology to function IMHO.
