Science!

Who would have think that a tyrannical asshole like Nye would fall this low? Well, I did. These supposed scientists, like Nye and DeGrasse-Tyson, are nothing but left wing shills with delusions of grandeur.

Leading climate activists are warning moviegoers to shun the May 2nd nationwide one-day theater screening of “Climate Hustle,” a new film debunking climate alarmism and its big government solutions.

Bill Nye (not a real “science guy,” FYI), who entertains the idea of throwing climate skeptics in the slammer, warned the film’s producer, Climate Depot publisher Marc Morano, that “Climate Hustle’s” content endangers not just the nation, but also the world:

“I think it will expose your point of view as very much in the minority and very much not in our national interest and the world’s interest.”

U.N. Climate Scientist Michael Oppenheimer has, likewise, condemned the film – without even viewing it – for daring to dispute climate alarmism. “Marc is a propagandist,” the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change scientist cautions viewers.

Yeah, think hard on that. If you really believe the stuff you are peddling is science, you wouldn’t be this worried about contrary opinion. If you are peddling bullshit, having others point that out however will be detrimental. Basically a shorter Bill Nye is “drink our koolaid, and don’t let the facts get in the way”.

I am gonna buy a dozen tickets to this movie.

Vaccines are real science and I get annoyed at movies claiming otherwise. Evolution is real science and I get annoyed at BS documentaries on intelligent design.  I don’t see the problem here.

I’m also bit puzzled by these “Bill Nye is not a scientist” claims. I don’t have much use for the man, but which part of “degree in mechanical engineering” isn’t science?

Do you tell people not to go watch any production with a contrary point of view and that it is an issue of national security like this moron did? He isn’t getting annoyed, he is telling people that they should avoid it because it harms the nation. He is a fucking tool. Most people neither understand vaccines nor evolution, mostly because people don’t realize that there will never be perfect solutions as our society has been conditioned to believe things need to be these days.

Vaccines work on between 93-97% of people. On others it will not, or it will even do harm. It is an acceptable risk like driving. Not believing in evolution doesn’t bother me at all. I was not there at the start, and while evolution sounds like the most credible and reasonable scientific explanation right now based on the evidence we have and out understanding of things, it could be wrong.

BTW, me, I hope as many idiots as possible skip their vaccines, and then they die off before the procreate. If you don’t want to believe in evolution it is your prerogative to be wrong. It is none of my fucking business, and I certainly will not go around and tell people that if they listen to anti-vaxxers or creationists/intelligent-design types that they are doing something unpatriotic like this douche.

What this asshole is doing is telling people to avoid something that would expose the marxist scam he believes in, and that is because it is based on bullshit and very little science.

Yeah, I think Nye is in danger of creating a Streisand effect here.  I wouldn’t have heard of this movie if he and his ilk weren’t protesting it.

Nye and several others have lost me with this business of wanting to investigate climate skeptics.  He’s the Science Guy, not the Constitution Guy.

Does Bill Nye limit his science advocacy to mechanical engineering? Or to fields that are directly related to mechanical engineering? Or fields that are tangentially related to mechanical engineering? Or does he pontificate on branches of science that he has never studied nor been trained in?

Just because you have training and expertise in one aspect of one discipline doesn’t make you qualified to tell people what to think and believe about every branch. Nye has gone far beyond “one man’s opinion.” He’s advocating (dangerously, in some cases), he’s claiming expertise, and he’s speaking with the trappings of an authority he simply doesn’t have.

In my experience the most vocal and ardent supporters of AGW science tend to be people with no scientific background, with backgrounds in scientific fields with little overlap, or, in fields like political science  or some studies or another, these latest basically being the equivalent of the kids that eats the glue or paint in kindergarten while others are using it to make art.

My point remains that if you are confident that the facts are on your side or you really want to let the scientific method and principle rule the day, you would have no problem with skeptics or others that want to verify your finding. In fact, you would love for their attempts because if you are right, they will just end up providing confirmation for you. You resort to the nonsense we see now –  appeals to emotion and attempts to silence the opposition – when you know that scrutiny will unravel your nonsense. Mendacity is the hallmark of this cult and the morons that worship at its altar because they hope it will allow totalitarian governments that they think they are going to be fine with.

See, but this is a two-fold trap.

Trap 1: You’re saying that unless you’re an expert on something, you can’t opine on it.  So no one should oppose terrorism unless they’re an expert on it? We opine all the fucking time on this page about things we are not experts on.  We opine on economics, on terrorism, on religion, on science, on law enforcement.  You don’t have to be a certified expert(TM) to opine.  You just have to know what you’re talking about.

Nye is wrong on many things related to advocacy but he’s not wrong on the science of global warming. This “he’s not a science guy” line is just a factually-challenged snide way of dismissing him. They’re not saying “he’s not a climate scientist” which be a legit complaint (if he was wrong on the science). They’re saying, “he’s not a scientist” which is a flat-out lie.

Trap 2: OK, but let’s remember that you guys think the experts are a bunch of liars and frauds.  Michael Mann is an expert on climate science.  I’ve seen him talk and he has an excellent knowledge of the field and (at least in talks) is willing to admit where the science is uncertain. And yet he’s considered the devil, an idiot who we should ignore, someone whom a national magazine compared to a serial child molester.  The vast majority of climate scientists think global warming is real (not 97%, but probably close to it).  That doesn’t necessarily make them right.  But you guys routinely dismiss their opinions anyway.

This is the catch-22 of global warming denialism: if somebody is an expert on it, he must be a greedy liar who’s conspiring to impose communism on us.  Tens of thousands of climate scientists, atmospheric scientists, satellite engineers, geologists, ice scientists, science advocates, physicists, zoologists, ecologists — all of them part of a Vast Left Wing Conspiracy.

Firstly, I’m not talking solely about climate science. Nye advocates on a range of topics for which he is not qualified, and he damn sure isn’t qualified to carry the authority he is given. Just because you think he’s right about this topic doesn’t excuse his bullshit. The fact that you’re willing to give him a pass is why people believe in things like “AGW cults” and the like. If Nye isn’t qualified to influence the masses on a topic he should shut the fuck up about it. His voice is not the same as some random person on the street talking. He operates with a gravity and an authority he doesn’t deserve, and you know it. You just happen to agree with him on climate change so you’re willing to give him a pass.

Secondly, boy, you better hope that no new data is ever found, because a lot of people have hitched a pretty hysterical wagon to AGW, you included. Not climate change, because fuck, we can see that. The hysteria is around AGW. I don’t know enough about this shit to take a stand. But I do know that hundreds of times, millions of people have been proven wrong with new science. At one point most of the world’s medical professionals believed in miasma theory. And they convinced everyone it was true. And only by challenging the idea, and building on the science of the time did we get to germ theory. Rejecting John Snow got a lot of people killed. (NO GOT JOKES YOU FUCKERS)

ANYWAY, I’m not saying that climate change or even AGW is fake. I’m saying people need to get the fuck down off their high horses and accept challenges to the science like a fucking scientist is supposed to. And I’m saying fuck Bill Nye, he may as well be dead to me. Being right on the science isn’t license to be a fucking cunt.

On that, I agree 100%.  I am getting extremely annoyed with this effort to silence AGW skeptics.  And not even skeptics.  Just “lukewarmers” who think global warming is real but not disastrous.  Or even people like me, who think the solutions proposed to AGW are crap.

You may need to read some history about the people you are aligned with Hal. After the Soviet, Chinese, Korean, Cuban, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and every other one of these people’s revolutions – and have no doubt that the AGW is completely owned by people aligned to these types of revolutions – the first people to be dealt with in the most brutally and horrible way, were not the political opponents, but the close friends with which there were minor disagreements. You fall in that category…

BTW, does the revulsion and reactions of critics by the AGW cult not smack of a combination of the catholic church’s reaction to challenges to its authority during the Dark Ages and the reactionary and wanton destruction by communist movement, to you? If it does, it is because it is exactly that: a quasi-religious totalitarian movement by evil people with a nefarious agenda they hide behind a veneer of social justice or saving Gaia. Beware the supposed do-gooder on their crusade.

There is no compromising with these people. They want to punish those that dissent for a reason.

This is why I argue most vociferously about AGW on conservative and libertarian sites. Climate policy can be left to those idiots.  If they try to solve global warming, they’ll almost certainly just make it worse (as, indeed, they are, by opposing nuclear power, supporting scams like “carbon offsets” and embracing things like “food miles” that actually burn more energy, not less).

Nukes, man. Just fucking get on board with the god damned nukes, people. There’s a reason you always build nuclear power in Sim City.
