Just waiting for this to completely implode – the farce that is higher education these days cannot last much longer.

And you thought the recession couldn’t get any worse….

Man… the other story on there when I followed the link was about how you shouln’t judge people on welfare. Bah. You want to have people like me pay for you? You’re damn straight I’m going to question why you have things like an iphone, big screen TV, surround sound and a brand new Mercedes.

All that money is going to Administration too. University admins have exploded while faculty hires are flat. Many universities function on “adjunct faculty” who they pay slave wages to. And many departments farm out teaching to graduate assistants (our doesn’t because our grad students could get jobs elsewhere).

It’s going to be very ugly when this implodes. I just hope the universities go back to teaching. But they’ll probably ditch the teaching in favor of having only Administration. No classes. You just pay them $100,000 for that credential of a bachelor’s degree.

This is the part of it that tells me the people paying are getting a raw deal. If they were paying instructors to teach, it might still be worth the hefty price tag. These days college is the only endeavor where people pay premium dollar and then try to do get the least out of it for that money anyway.

It’s going to be very ugly when this implodes.

It’s already started in my opinion. Right now it is rolling down hill slowly, but it is going to pick up pace soon.
