Winter is coming…

April 15th, tax day, draws nigh!

Did you buy your jar of Vaseline yet? Yeah, that was a reference to the whole “Game of Thrones” thing, but it is apt. “An evil monster, undead and wanting to draw the very life out of you, the IRS is”, as Yoda would say.

Me, I will be mailing the IRS a check, as I do every year, because I refuse to let these crooks take more than the minimum I am required to allow them to deduct and it is still a big number. That way I can really see the impact these regressive policies have on my earnings. then again, I have the discipline to save, so it is something I can do.

I would not be surprised I end up audited either. The IRS, under this administration, has a documented history of going after people they have issues with. They want their pound of flesh and pint of blood, after all.

Expecting my annual reaming today, Alex. I am taking my traditional half day off this afternoon or tomorrow to do my taxes and to help my kids do theirs. (Oh the joy!) I usually have to pay also, since I too refuse to give the bloodsuckers free use of any of my money to maintain a zero-interest savings account on my behalf. I will never, for the life of me, understand how people do that and brag about it!

Also, I would think that the IRS is too busy tracking down poilitical opponents of the administration to spend too much time on rightwingAlex and his crowd trying to spot their questionable $175 deductions. Maybe not?

My Sister-in-law bragged about getting $12,000 back. She bragged because she didn’t pay any taxes during the year (she is an under-the-table voice teacher, and her hubby is a “student”). They got a new bed, and a trip to Paris. I got reamed for quarterly taxes all of 2013, and will still have to pay on the 15th. God bless America.

    fify SO:

“Why am I paying a third of my salary so that 51.1% of the people in the country can mooch off of the other 49.9%?”

That better reflects the maximized liberal goal for mob rule of our country…..

All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it — that that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. … These are people who pay no income tax. … [M]y job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.

Seemed like a natural progression that someone would post a Rand quote. I thought I’d be silly.
I’ve read some it, perhaps even a third, about 20 years ago (when I hung out some libertarian types at University). Didn’t really do much for me. Maybe I’ll give it another shot. I did read The Fountainhead around the same time.
