Have you heard about this event?

I have to admit I missed this tragic event when it happened, and was wondering why the usual suspects in the LSM were not reporting the story 24/7 and demanding the 2nd amendment simply be ignored. It looks like most of the stuff the anti gun left loves about these stories was there:

A TEENAGER who may have had a grudge against a teacher opened fire with a shotgun at a Colorado high school, wounding two students before killing himself. Quick-thinking students alerted the targeted teacher, who quickly left the building. The scene unfolded on the eve of the Newtown massacre anniversary, a sombre reminder of the ever-present potential for violence in American schools. Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson identified the shooter on Friday night as 18-year-old Karl Halverson Pierson. The shooter entered Arapahoe High School armed with a shotgun and looking for a teacher he identified by name, Sheriff Robinson said. “(The teacher) knew he was the target and he left that school in an effort to try to encourage the shooter to also leave the school,” the sheriff said. “That was a very wise tactical decision.”

OK so it looks like the one thing missing is deaths. So maybe that was why the LSM was not all over this story and we couldn’t be left alone by the gun grabbers. Maybe I say, because if you keep reading, I think, you find out precisely why the LSM has dropped the story:

Pierson has been described as a dedicated and bright student from a religious family who attends Bible study meetings, leaving those that knew him shocked. “They’re just a normal middle-class family, like many of the families around here,” neighbour Diane Shea said. Thomas Conrad, who had an economics class with the gunman, described him as a very opinionated Socialist.

That bold section there is why this story never got legs. Remember, the LSM needs the narrative to be about the evil conservatives and such, but despite the fact that this low life was supposedly a religious person, which they definitely would have loved to use, it turns out he is a unicorn fart sniffer too. And that is the end of that story. Now if they could have only linked him to the Tea Party like their marching orders tell them they should, then this story would have some legs…

Do not want to minimize this tragedy, but I simply feel that the blatant bias of the LSM should not garner them a pass on despicable behavior. And you can bet you ass that this story is not getting 24/7 coverage because they think it isn’t a big story, but because they think it is a story with the wrong components.

We saw this with the Boston bombers, too. When in doubt, whitewash.

In other news, this weekend marked the tenth anniversary of the capture of Saddam Hussein. Also, Peter O’Toole has died.

Would the fact that nobody died not be sufficient to explain that?
Of course it’s impossible to be sure.

It was all over the news the day of. Once they realized no one had died, they moved on.

Huh? You confusing her with someone else? She got pilloried last time for not calling for more gun control and branding the shooters right wing extremists.

    And the reason it was over so quickly with no loss of life was because there was an armed deputy sheriff at the school at the time working as a school resource officer;

    http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/14/us/colorado-school-shooting/index.html

The rampage might have resulted in many more casualties had it not been for the quick response of a deputy sheriff who was working as a school resource officer at the school, Robinson said.
Lessons of Columbine and other school shootings helped in Arapahoe
Once he learned of the threat, he ran — accompanied by an unarmed school security officer and two administrators — from the cafeteria to the library, Robinson said. “It’s a fairly long hallway, but the deputy sheriff got there very quickly.”
The deputy was yelling for people to get down and identified himself as a county deputy sheriff, Robinson said. “We know for a fact that the shooter knew that the deputy was in the immediate area and, while the deputy was containing the shooter, the shooter took his own life.”

In the small town where I live there are 4 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school, the one school resource officer (armed) rotates from school to school on given days. I suspect this school district has a similar arrangement, how fortuitous it was everyone that he was at that school on this particular day.

No rotation Rich, he is there 100% of the time the school is open. Apparently CO started getting a bit more serious about police in schools after Columbine.

My school used to have a county deputy on site one day a week. His schedule was published. Not a great deterrent to a school shooter.

And, despite the lack of deaths (though the one serious victim may not survive), this should be news. The headline “NRA President was right about guns in schools” isn’t likely to be seen in too many places, though.

    No.

And you 1) don’t understand the US .000001% as well as you claim, or 2) are just being a complete fucking troll for saying that.

Quite possibly. There are so fucking many of these shrill, leftist, “smartest person in the room”, dipshit women over at MSNBC that they are all starting to blend together into one shrill, lying, uninformed, lying cunt of a commie. And I swear they all get their quotes from the same source – there is too much of common thread between all of them for it to be an accident.

Hist_ed, just curious, are you saying that in Colorado every single public school has a LEO assigned to it every day school is in session?

No, but that particular school had a a cop there full time. Didn’t save the article, but I believe it said something like “There is a police officer there any time students are present” which, if I am remember correctly, seems to mean beyond regular school hours.
