CIA working overtime to cover up what happened in Benghazi

Well, I can’t say I am surprised to find out that the CIA is one of the primary agents in trying to hide what was going on in Benghazi, and I think it is not hard to figure out why the WH is helping them out. from the article:

Sources now tell CNN dozens of people working for the CIA were on the ground that night, and that the agency is going to great lengths to make sure whatever it was doing, remains a secret.

CNN has learned the CIA is involved in what one source calls an unprecedented attempt to keep the spy agency’s Benghazi secrets from ever leaking out.

Since January, some CIA operatives involved in the agency’s missions in Libya, have been subjected to frequent, even monthly polygraph examinations, according to a source with deep inside knowledge of the agency’s workings.

The goal of the questioning, according to sources, is to find out if anyone is talking to the media or Congress.

It is being described as pure intimidation, with the threat that any unauthorized CIA employee who leaks information could face the end of his or her career.

In exclusive communications obtained by CNN, one insider writes, “You don’t jeopardize yourself, you jeopardize your family as well.”

Another says, “You have no idea the amount of pressure being brought to bear on anyone with knowledge of this operation.”

“Agency employees typically are polygraphed every three to four years. Never more than that,” said former CIA operative and CNN analyst Robert Baer.

In other words, the rate of the kind of polygraphs alleged by sources is rare.

“If somebody is being polygraphed every month, or every two months it’s called an issue polygraph, and that means that the polygraph division suspects something, or they’re looking for something, or they’re on a fishing expedition. But it’s absolutely not routine at all to be polygraphed monthly, or bi-monthly,” said Baer.

I am now convinced they were running a secret prison there and/or involved in negotiations to, or actually in the process of, transferring weapons to the Syrian resistance, under orders from the WH. That’s what is behind the need to keep their people from talking both to the media and congress is to make sure we the people don’t find out about that.

What was going on was illegal, sanctioned from the WH – they would have thrown the CIA under the bus otherwise by now – and would seriously undermine Obama and the donkeys. That’s why they are able to keep this hidden: it benefits the WH to make it so. CNN hopes that what people take away from this story is that it is about National Security, and hence, it is OK now if we never find out what happened. What everyone should be able to figure out, as should the CNN reporters if their head was not so far up Obama’s ass, is that their excuse making is bogus. Something illegal, and likely very bad, was going on. And if someone other than black Jesus was in the WH, they would have done just that.

But hey, this is not a scandal. Nothing to see here!

The level of apathy concerning the whole Benghazi travesty is astounding. Not to mention the incredible amount of stonewalling coming from not only the State Dept. but the DoJ and WH on everyone of the scandals discussed here (and almost exclusively only on the blog-sphere) .

Pravda and the KGB had nothing on what we are all watching unfold right before our eyes.

The polygraph is a sucker’s tool; it only exists in order to solicit confessions from people that don’t know that it’s nothing but theatrics.

They hook you up, ask you a few loaded questions, and then tell you that you’re lying. Confession follows. After all, the only reason you are even hooked up to one is because they “know” you’re guilty.

Also, prepare for the Administration to go after whoever leaked this. Hard.

Enemies of the state. Hope they can get assylum in Russia or avoid the drone strikes…

Actually, I seem to remember some speculation in the days afterward that Ambassador Stephens was there, in part, to help the CIA recover weapons that had disappeared in the fall of Kadaffi’s regime. The other theory was there was a CIA prison there. I’ll see if I can dig that up again.

For the downvote on the polygraph machine, perhaps you’d like to explain how a device that has been scientifically shown to be barely better than random chance in detecting lies and isn’t allowed as evidence in a courtroom ISN’T a tool for eliciting confessions. Particularly since the police use it for that very purpose.

You might want to read the book(s) on how interrogations are performed. It turns out that TV shows aren’t that far from reality. Some things to remember if you are EVER “questioned” by the police:

    1) Get a lawyer before answering any questions

    2) You are being questioned because they have decided you are guilty

    3) If they mention the polygraph machine at all it is to elicit a confession – as a general rule, nobody “passes” a polygraph test

    4) Even though getting a lawyer and/or refusing to answer questions is your right, and has been determined by the Supreme Court to not be an admission of guilt in any way (and cannot be used that way to influence a jury), the police will see this as nothing more but further evidence of your guilt, which they have already decided upon

I laughed harder at that than I probably should have, but SO isn’t off-base. The polygraph is a dying art in the US, partly because of laws restricting it use and partly because of its questionable reliability. Speaking as someone who has studied “the book” well, I will agree that you should lawyer up prior to discussing anything with the police.

They are so easy to spoof that it is a useless tool. Trust me on that.

Here is a tip: even if your are innocent, scratch that, especially if you are innocent, always lawyer up. Cops may not all be bad people, but they are not looking to help you out, and if you fall for that bullshit you see on TV, you are likely to get fucked by them.
