Hollywood Doing It’s Part

About a month ago I saw this really cool movie about Abraham Lincoln and the little known facts concerning his vampire hunting. American history has always had an appeal with me, any new material unearthed about our famous fore fathers, well, pile my plate high. Obviously when his mother succumbed to a vampire bite, naturally I could see why he wanted to kick some serious vampire butt, preserving the union and freeing the slaves came a distant second and third to his real passion.

NBC is working on another opus magnum, equally diligent in chronicling a great life and presenting it to the masses, somehow I think this work of art will be as historically accurate as an ax swinging vampire killing president;

A Hillary Rodham Clinton miniseries timed to precede the 2016 presidential election is part of NBC’s effort to create “event” programming that will draw viewers to the shrinking world of broadcast network TV, NBC’s programming chief said Saturday.

Let me translate that for you ,”Not resting on our laurels from that magnificent smear job we did on Palin last go around, we figured our anointed could use another helping hand. Targeting the all too essential (and all too numerous) low information voter, the ones that haven’t a clue between fact or fiction, we will be highlighting her many accomplishments (even if we have to embellish their importance) because really, who else are we going to support?”

If you think this reach around is going to be anywhere within the same zip code as honesty, take a look at who they have as playing Hillary, what, Kate Upton was off on a photo shoot and unavailable? Would not this woman be more accurate?

I was thinking about that time she said she came under sniper fire in Bosnia and how the GOP could use that for ammo, come to find out that she is pretty bad ass under fire.

The triumvirate (Hollywood, the MSM, academia) presents a tsunami of support every election and the GOP is usually a day late and a dollar short. But I see they have started campaigning early, and who’d a thought, they are not above idle threats;

  1. Seattle Outcast

    And it will star ……Dianne Lane…seriously?

    Have you SEEN what a complete bucket of ugly Hillary deliberately is? More accurate casting would be a bulldog in a wig and glasses…

    Her super powers will be her selective amnesia and her “Cartmanesque” demand everyone respect her AU-THO-RAy_TEH!!!, right?

    I tell you, the left has no shame.

    Nexus: What would provoke you to even read the book? Good science fiction/fantasy creates worlds where unique things happen within or beyond the realm of normal human observation. “Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” could not possibly contain any of that, and if it did, it seems just too damned easy……

    “Teddy Roosevelt: Zombie Slayer” might make me some money, no?

    Excuse me. I wasn’t aware my reading choices required your approval, or that you were the sole judge of what is or isn’t ‘good science fiction’.
    I read it because I wanted to. You have a problem with that?

    Easy there:

    Just making fun of the genre. Sheesh……

    I get it all the time, as I am a total Star Trek/Star Wars geek.

    Further question: Does having Abe as the main character make it MORE or LESS believable than “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”?

    Yeah, you”ll probably blow up at that one too. Grow a set and embrace your choices.

    some Sub-genres, of Sci-Fi such as AL:VS, both written and movies. usually do require you to take out your brain and set it in the seat next to you, to thoroughly enjoy….. call it a guilty pleasure…
    Pacific Rim was one such movie… and yes i want a sequel , because thoroughly kicked ass!

    Exactly. Star Wars requires you to check your brain at the door for lots of things. I throughly enjoy things like that and Warhammer, despite what the grown ups say about me. Pulling Teddy Roosevelt in as a main character, OTOH…………

    The REAL interesting thing about the Abe vampire movie was it’s proximity to the release of the historical Lincoln movie by Speilberg. I wonder how many adolescent-arrested guys like me got suckered into seeing that movie expecting vampires only to be asleep by the second hour of the movie (like my daughters were!). I loved it but it was apparently too much history and not enough impalings for the average 18-21 year old Twitter junkie?

    Heh.. I recall when I was 17 or so getting shit from friends about liking sci-fi because I absolutely ripped on the movie Darkman. I actually liked the idea of the movie, but when you essentially shit all over your own rules (the “hero” survives as massive explosion he’s 2″ from the flash point of, but a bad guy tossed out a window a few stories up dies?!?) you piss me off.

    I hate when any scifi sets some basic rules then just ignores them later because it’s convenient. Now, come up with an interesting reason why said rule no longer applies, then I’m interested. Things like the DS9 cross-over ep to the TOS Trouble With Tribbles explanation for why klingons looked so different was good/funny. The eventual Enterprise episodes to actually come up with a real reason and delving into it… classic.

    This Whole nightmare of Hillery running for president, reminds me of a scene from David Lynchs Dune.

    Baron Harkkonen is reviling his plans tor Arkkais he turns to his nephew Raban and tells him to squeeze squeeze …………….. and when they had enough when they been beaten enough , he will send Feyd, lovely Fyed…… the Coup d’ gras…………….

    Hillery is Feyd…
