I suspect the new strategy from the fucking tyrants in the WH is to pretend that they had the IRS scrutinize everyone, both conservative and otherwise, as what is supposed to be a bombshell revelation, issued last night by the new IRS director, Danny Werfel, an old employee of both Eric Holder and the OMB which for all intents and purposes is in the pocket of this WH, reveals. Werfel told reporters that the now-infamous “Be On The Lookout” list was far broader than originally disclosed as this AP fluff piece contends, and that the IRS was also going after progressives, Jews, and the Occupy movement. And if you believe this bullshit you deserve the shafting these people are going to be giving you sooner than later.
This is nothing but a desperate tactic, to cover for inexcusable behavior of targeting political enemies of this administration, by pretending that the IRS was just out to target everybody. Don’t fall for it. The devil is in the details, as Eliana Johnson’s NRO article clearly illustrates:
November 2010 version of the list obtained by National Review Online, however, suggests that while the list did contain the word “progressive,” screeners were instructed to treat progressive groups differently from tea-party groups. Whereas they were merely alerted that a designation of 501(c)(3) status “may not be appropriate” for progressive groups — 501(c)(3) organizations are prohibited from conducting any political activity — they were told to send applications from tea-party groups off to IRS higher-ups for further scrutiny.
That means the applications of progressive organizations could be approved by line agents on the spot, while those of tea-party groups could not. Furthermore, the November 2010 list noted that tea-party cases were “currently being coordinated with EOT” — Exempt Organizations Technical, a group of tax lawyers in Washington, D.C. Those of progressive organizations were not.
Clearly different standards were at play depending on whether we were dealing with a conservative or other type of organization. In fact, I will hazard the speculation that the IRS was ordered to look out for applications with “progressive” or “occupy” in it to expedite those requests, because these organizations were favorable to the WH and their win-the-2012-election-at-any-cost agenda. Where are all the progressive or occupy people protesting IRS scrutiny or denial of their application? Despite the media blackout, we know of plenty of Tea Party or other conservative entities being harassed or denied, but do you think that if there was even a single occupy or progressive entity that had been audited and denied, that this wouldn’t have been a leading story by now?
It is telling to me that they are so desperate to cover their asses that they want to first pretend this was just the work of rogue agents, then, when that story is completely debunked, that it was done by a coordinated effort, but not from the WH, and now, when that story is also falling apart, in a clear act of desperation, we are told they targeted everyone, including the left. Bullshit.
