I am sure that it is the conspiracy theorist in me.. (UPDATED)

That makes me feel that there definitely was an orchestrated high level cover-up operation, led from the WH of all places, which included the usual willing leftard sheeple in the LSM, to help them hide the disastrous happenings in Benghazi, and when we hear how the WH is actively threatening anyone with dire consequences should they choose to ignore that WH directive to keep quiet, it is all bunk. What the hey! These crooks currently running the country would never do anything like that. Can’t be true.

Victoria Toensing, a former Justice Department official and Republican counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee, is now representing one of the State Department employees. She told Fox News her client and some of the others, who consider themselves whistle-blowers, have been threatened by unnamed Obama administration officials.

“I’m not talking generally, I’m talking specifically about Benghazi – that people have been threatened,” Toensing said in an interview Monday. “And not just the State Department. People have been threatened at the CIA.”

Toensing declined to name her client. She also refused to say whether the individual was on the ground in Benghazi on the night of Sept. 11, 2012, when terrorist attacks on two U.S. installations in the Libyan city killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens.

However, Toensing disclosed that her client has pertinent information on all three time periods investigators consider relevant to the attacks: the months that led up to the attack, when pleas by the ambassador and his staff for enhanced security in Benghazi were mostly rejected by senior officers at the State Department; the eight-hour time frame in which the attacks unfolded, and the eight-day period that followed the attacks, when Obama administration officials incorrectly described them as the result of a spontaneous protest over a video.

“It’s frightening, and they’re doing some very despicable threats to people,” she said. “Not ‘we’re going to kill you,’ or not ‘we’re going to prosecute you tomorrow,’ but they’re taking career people and making them well aware that their careers will be over [if they cooperate with congressional investigators].”

Yeah, well we were pointing out that the WH strategy from the start, and remember this happened close enough to the 2012 election that had the facts come out it would have mattered, was to silence anyone that had the facts. Even Snopes, which does its best to provide the scumbags in the WH with cover on this story, admits that they do not know why either theater commander was relieved, based on more cover-up from Panetta. Panetta had a vested interest in covering for this administration. But I digress.

The fact remains that the scumbags in the WH have been working overtime to keep the truth about Benghazi, regardless of if you believe it is trivial shit or actually horribly damning information about clandestine operations – operations that are far worse than any that the current administration and its party spend years excoriating the previous one about – like I suspect is the case, under wraps. That the people being called up by congress to testify are being threatened to “shut up, or else”, is exactly more of what I expected from these craven and despicable scumbags. They are trying to both provide the current “Community Organizer in Chief” and the candidate they hope follows him in 2016, Mrs. Rodham-Clinton, with cover from a botched incident that resulted in a US ambassador’s assassination.

I have a suspicion that once we do get the facts everyone that provided cover for them will pretend they didn’t do anything of the sort. Kind of like everyone on the left pretends these days that they were on Reagan’s side during the Cold War, and that they think he was courageous for standing up to the “Evil Empire”. Of course, those of us that lived through that period remember clearly how the left actively undermined any and all attempts to halt the evil red machine’s global attempts to spread the cancer of communism, making the US, and especially Reagan, the bad guy. I point out that we got a rear glimpse of their true feelings when the left’s mask and lies about how they were on the side against the “Evil Empire” was recently dropped when they put Thatcher to rest.

There is some serious rot here behind the Benghazi cover-up, but of course, the usual suspects will dismiss it as nothing but speculation, the facts be damned. Where there is smoke, there is fire.

UPDATE: If you had any doubt the WH was lying check this out:

A special operations member who witnessed the attack on the U.S. Mission unfold in Benghazi, Libya on September 11 last year, as well as debriefed those who took part in the response, spoke with Fox News’ Adam Housley on Monday night and revealed information that directly contradicts the administration’s insistence that there was not enough time nor resources to send to Benghazi to help State Department employees, contractors, and intel operatives who were under a terrorist attack. FNC kept their source’s identity hidden, as witnesses to the Benghazi attack have reportedly been intimidated by the administration into silence. The assault left four Americans dead, including U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens.

“I know for a fact that C110 was doing a training exercise not in the region of northern Africa but in Europe and they have the ability to react and respond,” the special ops member told FNC.

This operator was not the only one to make this case. Several other people have argued that help was available and that the commanders were sacked to keep them from testifying to that being the case. I am going out on a limb and betting the operation in Libya was something the WH was so desperate to keep under wraps that it blocked any help from going there so there would be no witnesses. Just look at the other shit they have done for proof these scumbags would allow others to die or try to profit from tragedy every given time.

There is definitely a cover-up with regard to Benghazi. Personally, I don’t think it will start to unravel until we fully understand the nature of the ambassador’s work in Benghazi and why exactly he was there.

Whatever the Administration wants to hide has its foundation there, I believe.

CM apparently doesn’t realize the difference between people noticing that the government is going to great lengths to cover up a a complete disaster of foreign policy decisions, and a group of tinfoil-hat wearing nutjobs that thinks the Apollo missions were all done on a sound stage.

Of course, the first thing any corrupt government or organization does is attempt to paint those that keep prying into cover-ups as a group of tinfoil-hat wearing nutjobs…..

Oh for God’s sake, Alex. It’s just a bunch of people trying protect their asses by getting people to shut up about it because they screwed up on some security arrangements. Pretty much like every administration regardless of political leanings since… forever. There were plenty of people who had their careers threatened under Bush I and 2, Clinton and yeah Reagan too (Contragate, anyone?).

This doesn’t make it right, but it isn’t a grand conspiracy to overthrow the republic.

Their credibility went to shit when they sold out to the cult of AGW and the watermelon agenda it has. I quit reading them more than a decade ago for that very reason. Science stopped being of importance to them.

Actually I bet that it was either an illegal interogation prison or a weapons deal with the Syrian militants gone bad, and both of those things would be far, far, more damaging. Of course, I do want to stress that if this had been Boosh people like you wouldn’t be so blase about the whole thing and so eager to play it down. On the contrary, I bet you would be calling for his ass to be dragged in front of a war tribunal at the Hague. I guess Boosh’s crime was not getting a Nobel peace price for starting more wars….

I’m no fan of this current administration. They’ve done some pretty stupid things, and there is little to separate them in terms of policy or practice (particularly in terms of economics, energy and foreign policy) from the previous one. I just don’t think we need to follow the Hannity road, if you get my drift, and make up stuff where these isn’t any evidence of willful wrongdoing.

stogy, thanks for never letting us down.

Who had their careers threatened under W? It seems like ex-Administration types weren’t shy at all about writing tell-all books and revealing highly confidential programs to the New York Times even as those things were ongoing.

Who had their careers threatened under W?

Thrill, it’s anyone with a newsworthy narrative the administration at the time finds inconvenient. In the case of Bush, I remember a couple off the bat. But I’m sure there were others:

Climate scientists under the Bush administration often found their findings hushed up, watered down or reversed, and then they were threatened with dismissal for wanting to speak publicly about it. Hell, they even suppressed the report on catastrophic climate change issued by the Pentagon.

I also remember that the Bush administration threatened a Medicare official Richard Foster with firing over blowout costings of the program.

    Thumb up 1

  11. Thrill

I think you’re really reaching on those three examples. The Foster example in particular looks to be an unproven and not unlawful or even improper act by a low-level bureaucrat.

None of them present the same kind of systematic cover-up that the Benghazi situtation does.

My big question is where are the Benghazi survivors? These people have a story to tell that makes Blackhawk Down look about as exciting as a Jane Austen novel. They ought to be getting interviewed on every channel and having book deals thrown their way. Their absence and even the apparent inability of Congress to pin them down is the kind of thing that speaks volumes to the conspiracy-attuned (and on this issue, I’m proud to be one of them).

I don’t see how you can put it in that same category of a conspiracy theory though. We don’t know why Amb. Stevens was in Benghazi or why the Administration felt the need to lie for three weeks about this being a demonstration that got out of hand when officials certainly knew from the drone video what the nature of the assault was. We’re seemingly nowhere closer to getting those questions answered than we were before the election.

This shouldn’t be a partisan issue. If the reason for the diplomatic mission’s activities in that area had anything to do with secret prisons or gunrunning (two of the more interesting theories I’ve heard), I would absolutely expect a liberal guy like to you to be interested in it. I’ve had enough discussions about foreign policy with you to know that you would condemn it.

I am not asking these questions as some kook or ODS-afflicted teabagger. I just know a fiasco in the damage control phase when I see one and view the cover-up as obvious.

We should never let this issue go undiscussed without letting the question come up once: Why was the ambassador in Benghazi on September 11? You may write it off to mere incompetence, but there had to be a damn good reason for putting him in such risk. Why? You don’t know and those who do aren’t saying.

There’s nothing crazy or even divisive about asking questions here. We were definitely lied to from the beginning.

That’s not a good excuse for any Administration to prevent the truth from being spoken, stogy. They have no control over whether it’s believed or not (and there will always be those who try to ignore facts to further a beloved agenda), but that does not absolve them of the responsibility to tell the truth.

    Oh look, something shiny;
Federal authorities arrested three friends of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Wednesday, accusing them of trying to obstruct justice by hiding evidence in the case and lying about it.
Why there’s even an undated picture of three of them taken in …wait for it… Times Square.

but that does not absolve them of the responsibility to tell the truth.

These things take on a life of their own, Thrill. It wouldn’t even matter if they told the whole story from beginning to end.
People would still pick holes in it that weren’t there. And come up with nefarious motives that didn’t exist.

And haven’t we already had a congressional inquiry – well at least the Accountability Review Board and four other congressional committees?? Didn’t Hillary get accused of faking concussion to avoid it? And the so called “Whistleblowers” who are claiming their jobs are being threatened? They’ve been told

“The State Department would never tolerate or sanction retaliation against whistleblowers on any issue, including this one,” deputy agency spokesman Patrick Ventrell said.

But that isn’t what they want. No… they want the state dept to explicitly say that they’re jobs won’t be put at risk if they testify… oh wait they did. The is all smoke and mirrors – inventing grand conspiracies when there is only incompetence and a little finger pointing (“whoa, not me!”) there. Pretty much as it says in last week’s congressional report.

But all you have to do to throw up a whiff of conspiracy is get a lawyer to say that someone unnamed has been blocked from testifying, even when they haven’t.

I have no problem with yet another congressional inquiry , but I doubt it will solve anything. I call bullshit.

I would be willing to bet the house that all things being equal and the coverup was being done by the other side Stogy, that you would have the exact opposite stance on this issue as you conveniently have now. But then again, why would that be surprising? This pretense to care about facts and objectivity when the story hurts their cause is the lefts SOP, and we see it even in the LSM: if the story can be spun to hurt the other side, they run with it, and facts be damned, but if even when there is heaps of evidence that something that hurts the left is a big story, they give us the “lets wait till we have the evidence” bullshit.

Let me repeat it again: if it was not for a double standard, the left would have none.
