Again: you have to go to the foreign press to get the facts

Our bought & paid for DNC propagandists in the LSM are all busy providing cover for a terrible budget. For example, AP reports the budget as follows:

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is sending Congress a $3.77 trillion spending blueprint that seeks to achieve an elusive “grand bargain” to tame runaway deficits by raising taxes further on the wealthy and trimming popular benefit programs such as Social Security.

The president’s proposal being unveiled Wednesday includes an additional $1.8 trillion in deficit reduction over the next decade, bringing total deficit savings to $4.3 trillion, based on the administration’s calculations.

It projects that the deficit for the 2014 budget year, which begins Oct. 1, would fall to $744 billion. That would be the lowest gap between spending and revenue since 2008.

But instead of moving Congress nearer a grand bargain, Obama’s proposals so far have managed to anger both Republicans, who are upset by higher taxes, and Democrats upset with cuts to Social Security benefits.

The president’s spending and tax plan is two months late. The administration blames the delay on the lengthy “fiscal cliff” negotiations at the end of December and then fights over the March 1 automatic spending cuts.

Obama’s budget is going to save!!!1! Not only is he dreamy, but he is trying so hard to strike a bargain which reduces deficits and still helps the oppressed! Never mind that the numbers used to make that claim come from his administration, and that so far none of the numbers they have given us, on any and all of their other bullshit predictions, have ever panned out, but focus on how it is those pesky and evil rethuglicans that are the problem, while the democrats are justifiably mad that they are ripping off those poor senior citizens. If Obama manages to get this through we end up with a huge reduction in our deficit gap! Only $744 billion instead of the trillion plus it has ran at for the last 5 years. Blah blah, blah.

Some others try to pretend they are criticizing the budget, like The Hill does:

President Obama’s budget to be released on Wednesday would leave the nation with a $744 billion budget deficit in 2014 despite new entitlement cuts and tax hikes.

The $1.058 trillion budget for fiscal year 2014 — which will arrive on Capitol Hill about two months late — would turn off the automatic spending cuts known as the sequester and raise $580 billion in new tax revenue over ten years by limiting tax deductions for upper-income households.

The budget increases spending in 2014 when compared to spending under the sequester. Leaving the sequester in place would lead to $966 billion in discretionary spending in 2014.

Total spending in fiscal year 2014 including on entitlements would be $3.77 trillion.

For the first time, Obama’s budget counts revenue from a “Buffett Rule” requiring that households with annual income over $1 million pay at least a 30 percent tax rate after charitable deductions. The rule is named after investor Warren Buffett and was only a suggestion in the last Obama budget.

If he but left the sequester in place we would save more. And that Buffet rule is finally there. We only will spend something a little south of $3.8 trillion dollars too. More Blah, blah, blah.

Then you have some of the other LSM propagandists focusing on how the donkey are peeved at Obama’s grand bargain:

Calling Obama’s offer “nuts,” Sanders went on: “The White House tells us they want to defend the middle class — that’s their mantra. If you want to defend the middle class you don’t cut Social Security, you don’t cut Medicare, and you don’t cut benefits for disabled vets.”

“Say it!” somebody shouted.

“Give it to ’em!” somebody else called out.

Sanders’s ire was real, as was that of his fellow demonstrators: a pair of congressmen plus representatives of the AFL-CIO, the National Organization for Women,, Campaign for America’s Future and the rest of the liberal establishment. “Inhumane,” they said of Obama’s proposal. “Dickensian … reprehensible.”

But, in reality, the progressives’ street protest did Obama a favor. He needs to have the likes of Bernie Sanders against him. It strengthens his hand and helps him negotiate a better deal with Republican leaders, who can now see that liberal backbenchers and interest groups can sometimes be as intransigent as conservatives.

Oh Bernie, aren’t you a dream? And look at how you make Obama strong and give him leverage because you feign anger at a reduction in expected growth, a stupid accounting trick that should not fool even a child, that the DNC propagandists are bandying as a cut! How noble. Blah, blah, blah.

Even Fox News goes along with the DNC established line that this budget must be awesome because it riled both parties and seems to be an exact duplicate of the AP propaganda piece. I will spare you the repeated drivel since it parrots everything the AP story says almost verbatim. More blah, blah, blah.

And then you have this:

Early analysis: Obama’s 2014 budget numbers are based on bad math, phantom revenues, imagined spending cuts and a middle-class tax hike:

* White House promises $1.8 trillion in deficit reduction, although similar previous claims have been debunked
* New method of measuring cost-of-living increases will lower benefit payouts and push middle-class earners into higher tax brackets
* Speaker Boehner’s spokesperson: ‘Any deficit reduction will come exclusively from tax hikes’
* Administration’s formula depends on cost savings from Obamacare, which may be more costly to implement than previously thought

We finally got some truth and reality. But it had to come from the foreign press. And I think these revelations are tame, because the reality is bound to be far worse. From the article:, a program of the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg Policy Center, reported in February that Obama’s total sum included about $600 billion, however, in new taxes – not spending reductions. It also included $500 billion in reductions of the amount the federal government planned to pay in future interest on its debts.

Only about $1.4 trillion consisted of actual spending cuts – or at least what Washington wonks call spending cuts.

Federal budgets are configured along what’s called a ‘baseline,’ providing a predetermined level of year-on-year increases that Congress has set on auto-pilot, and with which the White House generally considers it unwise to interfere.

The $1.4 trillion in cuts were merely reductions in those planned rates of spending increases.

The Daily Caller quoted House Speaker John Boehner’s press secretary, Brendan Buck, who dismissed in an email the idea that the White House’s budget will actually trim spending.

‘So where are the net spending cuts? I guess they don’t exist,’ Buck wrote. ‘The president’s budget will – at best – be flat on spending – or potentially even be a net spending increase [and] any deficit reduction will come exclusively from tax hikes.’

That’s the facts. The donkeys are not cutting anything. They are using accounting gimmicks and a partisan media to pretend that’s happening, and a complicit media and stupid republicans that can’ or won’t do much better, are going along with this nonsense. In fact, if things work out as they usually do when it comes to predictions of any kind of savings or cuts by our collectivist masters, what we end up with will be a spending increase. Bank on it being an increase in spending. Leviathan never cuts, and that’s a fact you can take to the bank when the left is in charge.

What this budget does do for sure is again raise taxes. And despite the banter about how it will be the rich paying up, those getting socked will be in the middle class. Leftists hate the middle class. They like those that are sucking on the government’s teat and have to vote for them and the stinking rich that pay homage to them. Everyone else is a mark to be fleeced. Party of the little people, indeed, but let’s pretend this pile a shit is a step in the right direction. We are going off the cliff, and the train is speeding up instead of slowing down.

I remember the good old days when we bitched about evil Booosh’s 400 billion dollar defecits that contained the cost of two wars we couldn’t afford. Why do the current idiots get held to a different standard? I am fucking SICK of it!

    Thumb up 3

    So, let’s see:

Evil Booosh increases spending from 2 to 3 trillion dollars over 8 years with a major attack and a jihad to defend against.

Obama increasses spending by the SAME AMOUNT (from 3 to 4 trillion a year) in 4 years and you say Boosh is worse? Percentages can make a LOT of things look different than they actually are.

You just CAN’T cut Bush a break and/or TRULY denounce what these idiots are doing, can you? These guys have doubled down on stupid and you are still blaming the previous guy. I’m confounded.

And, cuts in SS are political suicide. They are necessary, but the Republicans are simply trying to make it Obama’s issue. He has been “nonstick” on everything so far, so I don’t blame them for trying. This fucker hasn’t paid the price for ANYTHING he has done yet, imo.

That’s because the bill will be paid by the American people. Well, at least those of us that are productive, do not think living off government handouts is living, and pay taxes. The others don’t much care because they have nothing to lose but the free shit they are getting.

    Thumb up 2

Wow, no economic meltdown in there at all. Misleading comparison much?

That’s because the bill will be paid by the American people.

Whereas the previous President’s decision is paid by the American and other nation’s people in lives. AS WELL AS the economic side of the equation.
